Highly recommend, but review cons so you arent surprised about the mushroom gravy (carrots & celery in it) & collard greens (cooked w/bacon) like we were. Now we know these things, the next visit will be even higher rated! Pros: Great atmosphere, killer pinball room, solid beer & cider options, great prices for high quality food, solid happy hour offerings. Cons: The poutines mushroom gravy includes diced carrots (offsets the black pepper spiciness well!) and celery (unpleasant surprise & I like celery but not in my poutine gravy). Collard greens have bacon cooked in them, this is great if you eat bacon/pork but not if you dont and if the person youre with doesnt eat cooked greens. *The waitstaff didnt know the collards were cooked w/bacon in them beforehand, when the person learned - the info wasnt shared w/us until after the order was put in/just before the food was served, had we known we would have ordered the veggie poutine w/the kale-greens option on the side (for me to make a mini veggie poutine & my SO to enjoy poutine sans greens raw or cooked!).

I live within walking distance of this place so I end up here at least once a week. The atmosphere is great. Good music playing almost always, which beats a juke box in my book. Interesting movie always on the screen. Big Buck Hunter and a decent selection of pinball. Pool. It is never too crowded, even on weekends. The drinks are a great deal. Could use a few more beers on tap, but the selection is always good if limited. The happy hour menu is decent (I do miss the black bean dip). The regular menu is great; try the bread pudding. The staff has always been really friendly. There are 4 individual bathrooms, which is pretty uncommon for a place of this size. I do not want to ever live not in walking distance to this place. And most bars you go to in Portland, expect you to go to the bar to order, so I do not see why people are so concerned about the service in a few of these reviews. It beats dozens of bars I have been to in this town, where you wait 5-10 minutes at the bar to order every round.

Amazing! I asked our server for suggestions (everything looked delicious) and mentioned that I hadnt had a Monte Cristo in years. She suggested I try theirs, so I did. What I should have told her was that I THOUGHT Id had a Monte Cristo years ago, because this thing put that one to shame. The ham was reminiscent of a perfectly cooked steak, the grilled bourbon French toast was sweet and delicious, the cheese was enough to accent it all without feeling heavy, and the egg was fried over-easy to exactly the way it should be! I am full and enjoyed every last bite... The only sad part was being too full to try the other items in the menu! I will definitely be returning to do just that.

I live a few blocks from C Bar and it has quickly become my favorite neighborhood hangout. Ignore the older reviews, theyve since changed owners and employees. Fantastic, unique menu with absolutely delicious food. Bartenders are friendly and attentive, the decor attracts a good looking crowd, usually the music is pretty good and they have a game room and porch out back. New brunch menu has me checking in every Sunday morning for my fill of sausage biscuits and gravy. They also have a generous Happy Hour and late night HH menu that makes it easy to drink and eat relatively cheap. Great asset to the neighborhood.

One of my favorite neighborhood bars which is also a great place for a date. Amazing beer selection always changing (Look at the board and get lost), the bartenders are so nice and friendly! Pinball in the back and I believe minors are now allowed before 9 or 10 or something, which didnt use to be the case, but is cool for families and Ill just come when yall leave at 10. Do NOT sleep on C Bars food, they are always changing the menu seasonally and put such high quality ingredients together in the best ways. You wont be disappointed.

Every time I have been to this bar, I have sworn that I wont return. The service is just plain bad. The tatood female bartender who wears those pretentious large black glasses is the most unfriendly bartender I have ever interacted with in Portland. Life really isnt that bad honey, I promise. And please dont mutter things under your breath when I tell you, "yes I only had one beer". Its rude. That all being said, they have a great beer selection and the food is pretty good.

Damn you C Bar for being so awesome! Tough having a neighborhood bar within stumbling distance that is so damn good. Not just another decent Portland bar, this is a decent bar with amazing food. The staff is almost always friendly and on it, with a very rare bad night (which is saying something with how often I find myself here too tired to cook my own meal). Decent prices on the booze too, I dont have to go across the street to get ship wrecked for cheap any more.

I had a great pulled pork sandwich. The plate looked AWESOME when it came out, the fries are dusted with spices and herbs and mine were PERFECTLY crisp and brown. The pulled pork was meaty and flavorful, overflowed the large square foccacia bread and the citrus slaw was great and fresh! The draught beer list is way too short, but the happy hour prices are okay and the service was quick and friendly.

The pinball arcade is an attraction in itself; definitely worth a look even if you dont play. The venue is a bit worn, but not unpleasant. The service is good, not great. The food is very good, with a few pleasant surprises among the specials as well. Prices are fair. Theres a happy hour menu, but dont go out of your way: the discounts are insignificant, and everything is available on the normal menu.

I stopped by on a whim of desperation a month ago and was pleasantly surprised by new, FRIENDLY and attentive waitstaff. They serve brunch now, and I must say its pretty darn good. I recommend anything on the menu paired with a "Caesar" cocktail to cure what ails you. Oh yeah, and new pinball machines doesnt hurt the situation either. Glad I gave this neighborhood bar a second chance.

Food is kindof good. Thats the Only reason for the stars. Staff is super unfriendly and stuck up, they take a really long time to bring your food so its usually cold, and they take even longer to bring the bill. The Only thing going for this place is the food. Its very loud, full of pretentious people, and staffed by elitists who dont seem particularly elite to me...Meh.

Stopped in here for an after dinner beer. Its a pretty classic bar. Lots of wood and stuff all over the walls combined with several giant TVs for sports. They had a pretty good beer selection and service was fine but nothing really stood out to me. Wouldnt mind coming back for another beer but not where I would go for a memorable night.

Great beer selection. Grilled cheese and tomato soup w/chèvre is a solid go-to, and their menu items are consistently good. Brunch on the weekends is delicious as well. Some of the hardest working staff in the industry. Im always impressed and amazed how they run things on the weekend and remain professional (and stay sane).
