Hands down, this is the best Asian anything restaurant in the entire Los Angeles/San Gabriel Valley area. Yes, they do take credit card. Expect an 1.5 hour wait (worth it) The waiters are great, polite, and attentive. The food is absolutely mouthwatering amazing and no msg. The house special lobster is a must. I came here with a party of 6 adults and the waiter recommended a medium lobster for our group and it was the perfect amount. I appreciate the honestly at this restaurant. Its truly rare to find Chinese Seafood restaurant where they dont try to cheat you out of your cash to get more than you need. The lobster was roughly around 4.75 lbs at about $16.60 per pound, came out a few cents over $80.00. What I also appreciate about this restaurant is they actually weigh the lobster and youll see the exact weight on your receipt. Ive noticed at a lot of Chinese restaurants theyll just round up, not this place. So you can rest assured your actually paying 100% of what you bought, not them trying to swindle your cash. The French beef was perfectly cooked. It was tender like filet mignon and tasted like filet mignon and perfectly red in the middle of each cube of meat. Highly recommend you order this dish too. The Crab Asparagus soup was AMAZING. It had tons of crab meat in a lightly flavored crab broth with bits of white asparagus. Perfect for a starter. I get tired of pea shoots and chinese broccoli so we got the bamboo shoot with black mushroom. I highly recommend this, too. Excellent veggie dish. There is a TON of lobster roe in the House Special Lobster. Be sure when youre done to mix the white rice in all the pepper/green onion/lobster roe bits left on the plate. Its like getting an extra rice dish for free! The House Special Lobster dish itself is of course awesome. It has a light peppery sauce on it and you can pick how spicy youd like it. The lobster is initially steamed then its quickly sauted with green onion, peppers, lobster roe, and that peppery sauce, just to mix it all together. They should think about selling that sauce. Its finger licking good!

Everyone I know raves about this places lobster. Since it is near my hometown, I did want to try it. The wait.. always atrocious. I had the pleasure of waiting 2 hours in the crowded clusterf*ck of the rude people of 626. Old people loitering every which wear, not caring about the crowd waiting behind them to move to the side. Little kids running around, crying, or both! But lets get down to the food. The shaken beef (bo luc lac) was good, not because of the technique of the chef.. but because of the sauce. And the sauce is easily replicated. We got the basil clams, which were good as well but tasted like that of any chinese/viet restaurant in 626. The fried tofu was a disappointment. My friends know I have an obsession with Seafood Coves fried tofu and this didnt compare in ANY sense. The sauce as ordinary soy sauce, the tofu wasnt even soft on the inside. Just dont get it! So now the lobster... I was surprised it came out SO quickly. Again, it was good but not amazing and still dont know why people wait in that crazy line just for this. Its def not a place I would go again (unless there is no wait). A LOT of places in 626 have lobster comparable to this. But I did really like the service. Its atypical of the restaurants in 626. Waiters refilled our waters promptly. They asked if we enjoyed everything. They actually cared!! My parents attributed it to the number of "Americans" frequenting that place haha

We came here on Chinese New last year. We knew that it would be crowded so my friend got there at 4:30 PM hoping to get seated at 7 PM (No thats not a typo). I wont lie, it was a long 2.5 hour wait, we went to Boba, explored the market across the street and watch screaming kids and families in the parking lot. That being said, I think the wait for worth it! The food was so good. The waiter we had tried to tell us to we were ordering too much but we ignored him and ordered basically everything. You obviously have to order the Newport Special Lobster which is amazing. I would also recommend a noodle dish (Beef & Black Bean Sauce) and House Special Steam Duck. Now the waiter will tell you that the House Special Steam Duck is not like normal Duck, but do not listen to them, its very crispy and falls off the bone (unless Im thinking or the wrong dish). This place is a little on the expensive side so be conscious of that before going crazy on the menu. Ask what the market price of the lobster is before deciding. Also be prepared to wait. Like everything good in LA, its not worth it unless you have to wait 1.5+ hours ;p

#1903th review. Does it even matter anymore? Someones probably reviewing it right now as I am. Its probably 1904th by the time I finish this. After a certain number of reviews that a restaurant receives Yelp should just take away the numbers of reviews and say "Try it dummy." In my book that number is +1500 review. If that many people took the time out to review it, its got to be good enough to try. Best coursed meal ever. The best of 8 course meal at a wedding could never beat the amount of awesomeness and variety of seafood this place has. 8 years in the making for this review so that has to be proof enough right? Shakey Shakey Beef Shakey shakey wake and bakey! I tried to get hired on as a dish washer last week just so I could steal the recipe for this dish. They told me I was too buff and I would break all the dishes so they didnt hire me. Dont over look the non seafood items, the bo luc lac and kung pao chicken are among the best items on the menu.

Whenever I take my parents out to non-Asian restaurants, doesnt matter how much they enjoy the food, they always say this at the end of the meal, "We shouldve just gone to Chinese restaurants. Its cheaper and you get more food!" Newport Seafood is one of THOSE Chinese restaurants they refer to. You can order a huge lobster, a Dungeness crab, steak, a whole fish, clams, seafood soup, plus maybe some kung pao chicken and green veggies to share among large group of people. The price usually comes to about $30/person. Seriously! Where else can you get that much food, with different variety, and different tastes for that price? The food is delicious and seafood is always fresh. They can get very busy, but service is always great. Unfortunately, they do not take reservation. So its best to go early to avoid the wait. If you have kids, you can take them to see the giant crabs and various sea creatures at the fish tanks. Its both fun and educational for them.

Super disappointed. Whole night ruined because of the bill. Bill was 101 and some cents. Put down $120. Was given a quarter back... And was told I had put down 102. For a party of 6 people... We all knew how much we were putting down together in order to leave a good gratuity. One of the servers/cashier took or miscounted how much we put down to pay for the bill and leave gratuity. Was told it wasnt a problem but it is a problem.... Someone didnt count right/ perhaps dropped the money/ perhaps someone stole the last $20 bill we left for gratuity. And someone didnt get the right gratuity we left. The girl at the cashier was the one who counted it. And our waiter was a gentleman of older age. The one who picked up the check and money was a younger woman. For how expensive this place is... Whoever screwed up needs to be more careful. I expect to speak to the owner soon.
