Easily the best Chinese food in the whole WORLD! I dont know why those haters are giving them anything less than that. They are very fast and friendly. Always remember me and family & friends. Always remember what I like and how I like it cooked. And I am the Pickiest person on this planet. Seriously ask my family. But the family that own SPICY CITY and actually work their EVERYDAY, ALL DAY LONG might I add, know what they are doing. Thats why they are they only restaurant in the whole plaza that is always packed, with no empty seats at all, and most times with massive amounts of people outside waiting to be seated. And they are very fast at getting ur food out to u. Its to die for. OMG. They should be charging double for the amazing food they serve. Everyone who visits san Diego definitely needs to make a stop here before leaving. Many stops. Believe me when I am there, I eat there at least once a day. I love the spicy egg plant.

Sichuan style Chinese food. Huge portions and a majority of them are spicy (as in you can see the loads of red pepper on the dishes). Our two dishes lasts for two separate meals. I have come here a number of times and even if im not a particular fan of spicy food I do really enjoy their non-spicy dishes - black bean fish with tofu and the chefs special green beans. amazing. The combo of those two entrees are delicious. The fish is soft and not overly drowned in the black bean sauce. The beans are crisp with so much flavor - garlic, soysauce, etc. Other tables in the restaurant even order two of the green beans for a table for two. Its that good. Of course service here isnt great but what Asian restaurant is. You go for the quality of the food not service. Also bring cash if you are spending less than $20.

Only a Chinese person craving some authentic Szechuan cuisine would really appreciate this place. The dishes they roll out have perfect portions. My rice noodle soup was so unforgettable, the noodles melted in my mouth without me having to chew them! Their Dan Dan noodles are a bit oily, but the flavor was just right with the spicy sesame oil and chili seasoning. Their spicy fish with sprouts is enough to share with 3 people. Their crispy spicy chicken was fried to perfection. Their fresh vegetable dishes that you wont find elsewhere! Theres always a slight wait during dinner time, but be prepared for some spicy kick in your tongue.

Ive gone to this place for the past 2 months. Ive always ordered the pork intestines dried pot and around 2-5 Tsingtao beers, and Ive never could get over the fact that they always over charge me just because Im there by myself and seemingly *wasted*. The people seem nice but god, no matter how much wasted I was, I knew that in my calculating head theyre cheating me. I guess its the Chinese way. Ive live with my wife in Changsha for 5 years and I know how it goes. today, 8/10/13 will be the last time Ill be there. I just cant stand the cheating, no matter how seemingly *good* they two-face you.

I really like Chinese food, particularly Szechuan style, and have tried a lot of restaurants all over the country. Spicy City is the best--hands down! I dont care for spicy food, but my regular dining companion prefers his with a big kick and Spicy City can accomodate both of us quite well. I recommend our favorites: Chefs Special Green Beans, Baby Bok Choy with Mushrooms and Ma Po Tofu. Sample a few dishes when you go--you wont regret it! By the way, Spicy City is good for vegetarian and vegan options, but has a full range of meat selections as well. Very friendly and accomodating waitstaff.

I am from Sichuan and finally found something that reminds me of my hometown. The food is great! Excellent and balanced. The service was good and the owner (I assume the lady there speaking Mandarin with a distinct Sichuan accent) was friendly and recommended the hometown style cured pork. Man, it was good. I have not had that kind of flavor in years. She claimed to have made the cured pork herself. I could attest to its authentic flavor. The market version is just not the same. The price is slightly higher than the restaurants I am used to in L.A., but reasonable in San Diego area.

Really good, if youre into spicy and garlicky things - thats Szechuan cuisine. Portions have been getting smaller over the years for some dishes. Some other dishes are huge but mostly filler items like tofu rather than a bit more of fish filets. Its rather pricey compared to stuff in LA but standard fare for San Diegos food scene. Considering how weak the Chinese food is relative to the price in San Diego this is one of your better bets. Its a small place though and students frequent here.

Very RUDE service. They always make mistakes on the food and they never accept their mistake. NOBODY SPEAKS ENGLISH and it always smells bad. It SMELLS LIKE SWEAT in their restaurant and in their food. Very inconsistent food and service is always is poor. AT $9 PER DISH THEY LOOK CHEAP BUT THE FOOD IS WAYYY OVERPRICED I even found animal hair in their food so who know they are probably COOKING CATS AND DOGS!

A great place to get your Szechuan fix. The food has a very homey feel. The place is small but the turnaround is fairly quick. Make sure to bring your friends and family to try more dishes family style! Be careful with your order since most foods are really spicy. Also most of the food are very greasy and oily. The parking can be troublesome sometimes but you can find some street parking on Engineer road.

We were excited to try this place out since we love spicy food. We ordered 4 entrees (our eyes were bigger than our stomachs) and 2 were just okay and 2 werent very good. We had ordered the frog legs since we like to try different things and were very disappointed since they were very small and had bones. Trying to eat these with chopsticks wasnt ideal...

Good delicious food. Some food could be hot but the menu will indicate that for you. Price is right as well. Recently renovated inside. Nice, friendly, and courteous waitress and manager. Hard to get table during busy hours. Could make reservation for 7 people. Recommend come early for dinner to avoid 30 to 60 minutes wait but worth it.

Very good Sichuan restaurant. We ordered BoBo Chicken, the chicken was cooked perfectly, tender meat with light crunchy skin. The chilli source is on the spicy side, so be prepared. The spicy fish filet with Tofu is nicely done, both fish nd tofu are tender. The stir fried leek and dry tofu was done nicely which has the right texture.

Delicious! Authentic Sichuan cuisine that is very unique. This place definitely lives up to its name as most dishes are truly quite spicy. The chicken clay pot contained at least 3 different kinds of peppers. The green beans are amazing as well, perfectly cooked, you definitely have to get an order!

Food is very delicious and Very spicy. Reminds me of my grandmas cooking in Guam. If you dont want it spicy tell them not to cook it spicy. Cause I said not to spicy there was a pound of chilli in the food. They have authentic Chinese food they have a dish with frogs. And they serve lotus flower.
