I was first introduced to Con Pane about a year ago. The ambience was not so impressive but the bread and sandwiches were wonderful. I attend services in Liberty Station and have time and time again stopped in for lunch..mostly for the great sandwiches. I invited some friends to meet me there today and my friend ordered the Turkey Club. Being unfamiliar with gorgonzola cheese, he just could not come to terms with its pungent taste and ask if they would remake the sandwich without the cheese. The server was willing to do that and minutes later the manager "Luke" came to our table and said to us that he would not remake the sandwich and that the ingredient was listed on the menu and there was nothing he could do about it. He even refused to return the patrons money, a whopping $4.75 cents. Having not been at the table during this exchange I proceeded to order my meal and planned to hire the bakery to cater a huge pre wedding luncheon scheduled for October 8th. I estimate that it would have been a $1000 job. In addition to my order, I can safely and conservatively estimate that I have spent $2500 over the past year for lunches with friends and clients. While that may seem like small potatos, it is $3500 dollars less that this establishment will ever get from me again and every chance I get to tell others about the ridiculous encounter I am sure to increase that loss of revenue. Research has shown a high percentage of businesses and organizations fail to realize that the impact of a poor customer service experience can lead to a drop in profits and turnover. By providing poor customer service negative word-of-mouth can spread very quickly in the community causing the business or organization to suffer by having a reputation that can be very hard to shake off. Not over $4.75. I certainly hope this review reaches Catherine Perez, owner of Con Pane in Liberty Station. As a former financial analyst, I am sure she can see the value of treating customers better than her Gen Mgr has. Ive been in the business of serving customers for over 30 years and recognize the error this young, inexperienced and foolish manager has made for the sake of holding his ground (ego). Furthermore, what kind of impression did he leave on some of the employees. Sad and uncalled for. Some one please educate him.

The bread & scones are actually very good but there are some major drawbacks. First, it that there is not a choice of what condiments the customer wants on their sandwiches. Second, today I waited 25 minutes for one to go sandwich. The restaurant was not full, there were only three customers in line ahead of me and there were an abundance of staff. While waiting, I was trying to figure out why they are so inefficient. There were three women making sandwiches and three men putting together the orders & delivering them. There did not seem to be a ticket system where all involved knew the order in which customers had placed their orders and everyone seemed confused about who was doing what. The three women spent a lot of time chatting with each other instead of making sandwiches and one even spent 10 minutes on the phone while she was supposed to be making sandwiches. Is there actually someone overseeing the many young staff? The men appeared to be working hard but often could not figure out what the orders were since the women did not always get the tickets to them in the correct order. None of the staff appeared to be concerned with how long customers had to wait and certainly were not concerned when I asked whether my sandwich had been overlooked after waiting 15 minutes. The response was "the ticket is up there." Although I generally enjoy the food, every time I go there, I tell myself that I will not go back. However, the location is convenient when I take my dogs to walk in Liberty Station. Does Con Pane think that they no longer have to provide good customer service since they are in such a desirable location? The service was fast & efficient in the old location on Rosecrans. What happened with the move?

When this place shuts down I will rejoice. The owner, Catherine Perez, has a high turn over rate for a reason. She treats her employees terribly. Like a slave mill. Not only did she promise more money in her ad for an EXPERIENCED administrative assistant but she did not follow through. She pays her employees pennies and discriminates against English speakers by only speaking Spanish. I have never endured such abuse from an employer to where it was borderline sexual harassment. When I left she sent me a series of abusive text messages which I have saved. The office is FILTHY and when one tries to clean, they are met with the response "I dont pay you to clean!". This woman has some deep rooted personal issues that she takes out on her employees. One cannot ask her ANY questions or come to her for anything even if it is placing a time sensitive order. I have never been in that womans office except to leave an order sheet on her desk and she has accused me of stealing. She mailed my check far later than 72 hours as it was sent via fed ex. It is impossible for anyone to function in such an abusive environment. Her own office manager quit without giving notice. She views her customers the same way she does her employees. She talks about "cleanliness" in good service yet every day for weeks she wears the same pants with a red stain on her behind.

Sad I waited so long to walk into the bakery because this is easily one of the best, if not the best cinnamon roll I have ever had. Quality ingredients. Not too sweet, strong spice accentuations, especially in the icing. You will not regret coming here. Strong cinnamon flavor in the roll, strong vanilla flavor in the icing, avoids the overuse of sweetining agents like sugar. As I write this and eat this roll I am undoubtedly convinced that this IS the best cinnamon roll I have ever had. Also had the vanilla shortbread and was pleasantly surprised to learn it was not overly sweet and nicely accentuated with vanilla as well. You can tell a lot of thought and effort was put into this recipe and delicacy. Extremely fair prices. I have nothing but positive ratings for this establishment and I consider it to be nothing less than extremely high class.

Best bread outside of France!!! Their bread is made fresh daily, they usually sell out of most of their baguettes by the end of the day. So the early bird definitely wins! They have really good sandwiches, and they make picnic boxes, if you want to go enjoy San Diego. They also make scones and other pastries. Their cinnamon bun is really good, as is the sugar pearl brioche (only weekends). I love the traditional baguette and their epi, and as far as loaves the rosemary and olive oil is really good, (would recommend for any sandwiches). Their focatia bun are also really good for burgers. This is definitely a neighborhood place, they know the locals, and everyone is super friendly. It gets very busy on the weekends, so be prepared to wait in line. They are closed on Wednesday.

A bread lovers ideal place... I went there for lunch with my roommate accidentally and ended up thanking all our luck to have got us there... Loads of varieties of breads... Huge place with quite a lot indoor and outdoor seating... We had the Turkey Cobb Sandwich and the Seasoned Beef Roast Sandwich... Both had completely different textures and flavors give your taste buds a fun ride... Both of them were complimented good with good amount of cheese and veggies... We had Apricot tea and Cafe con Chocolate and both of them stood up to the expectations brought to the table by the amazing sandwiches... The service was worth mentioning with lot of friendly smiling baristas helping you around and getting your orders to your table pretty quickly...
