(tl;dr: Good food. Try the Kobe Cream. The Egg and Bacon pastry is good too!) Review: All of the items made at Mahoroba are just like those I came across while in Japan. Light flavor with soft pastries, these treats and breakfast items continue to bring people back time and again. Ive tried almost all of the pastries and I would recommend each pastry to my friends. Aside from their famous Kobe cream pastry, I am partial to their Sunrise, a soft roll with a light, cookie-like shell on top. If youre looking for soft bread, just try their soft loaves in either the normal US slices, or in the thick slices, common to Japan. There are other varieties of bread here as well. Try them all! My favorite so far is the raisin bread, in thick slices. Overall, come here when you can, and enjoy Mahorobas treats!

I frequent this Asian bakery often. All their buns are amazing, Ive tried almost everything they offer. My favorite would have to be the green tea sunrise bun, its a sweetbread roll with a green tea (matcha) sugar cookie baked on top, its their version of Japanese melon pan. The bakery offers limited seating and a small selection of bottled drinks to purchase. Recently Ive seen more savory buns being added to their selection of breads, however the usual sweet buns (kobe cream, sunrise buns, sweet cream cheese, strawberry adzuki, blueberry cream, etc) are always available.

We go to Mahoroba monthly. Im a HUGE fan of their pizza bun, and I also like the sausage bun. My wife likes the Kobe Cream bun so much we named our dog Kobe. I know... Its weird. I dont really understand, either, but shes Chinese, and Im still learning, even after 10 years together, about the cultural idiosyncrasies. So far weve had three dogs named after food. Anyway, the baked goods at this joint are awesome, and everyone should get up on this!

UNBELIEVABLE!! I love this place. I have tried five or six different pastries and have enjoyed each one so thoroughly I am not even sure which is my favorite. The Kobe cream is of course awesome, the other cream-cheesey one is phenomenal, the double chocolate one is amazing....I could go on. And they serve coffee. And some lunch-ish items. So glad this place is on the other side of town from me, because if it wasnt, Id be outgrowing my clothes.

Been coming here for a long time for my Japanese baked goodies! They have consistently good service and more importantly, consistently good baked items. We usually buy by the box a variety of items for parties and get togethers consisting of old and young folks. We have never had left overs. If youre looking for good, light and tasty baked treats that are not jam packed with sugar, this is the place!!

So many delicious things to eat! The desserts are amazing. Like most Asian desserts, they arent overly sweet, but so good. There are buns filled with custard, blueberry cream, chocolate, and more. The savory baked good are just as tasty. Buns with hot dogs, teriyaki meatballs, bacon...really you cant go wrong.

Being a lover of all things cupcake, I feel like a connoisseur, but I end up loving all cupcakes anyways. That being said, this place is GREAT. I had a lemon cupcake and it wasnt too citrus-y. It was just perfect and delicious. They do have a twitter as well with specials, which I always appreciate.

I will fight someone for a strawberry anko they are the best things there. Always very clean in there and polite staff. They are super accomodating whenever I ask if they can whip up a few more strawberry ankos because for real dont even waste your time with the kobe cream the anko is where its at.

Their specialty is Japanese buns with a variety of fillings, like red bean, chocolate and others. They are so soft and moist, especially when fresh. There are other types of buns including savory ones. Not a lot of seating inside; most people buy them to go.

curry pan pastry for a tasty lunch, warm it in a toaster oven for the best flavor ever.... I love green-tea pastry too. wish they can do something for the smell which sometime doesnt smell like bakery but more like other food, I guess this is a minor detail.

Brought my little sister here, who just got back from a year and a half living in the Tokyo area, and she said they were authentic. Very tasty! I love the sausage rolls. They remind me of Portuguese pastries we had back in southern Massachusetts. Yum!

I love this place been going since they opened. Then moved away for school and when I would come home this place was always on my list. Just moved back so happy I can come back and get some very yummy treats. One of my favorite places in the world.

The pastries are to die for. They have a chocolate mousse pastry with dark chocolate drizzled on top and then the dough is soft, sweet and ooooh. And the pastry with the spicy dog in the middle. This is worth a trip from any location.

Cant get enough of this place. I use my son as an excuse to get here as often as possible. Unique and awesome bakery items that I crave. Busy on the weekends so hit it early or they might run out of your favorites.

Excellent bakery, and probably the closest you can get to a delicious authentic Chinatown bakery. Be sure to try the curry buns, green tea buns, custard, well just try anything there because EVERYTHING is so good!

Im lactose intolerant, so the curry pan is my favorite. My kids love the kobe cream, but they would eat anything from there. Bonus points for the fishsticks on a hotdog bun.

Traditional Japanese bakery, very interesting and delicious pastries. Not the fastest service but very high quality. Get there early as they run out by late morning.
