Our family began picking berries at Gizdich Ranch before our daughters - now 31 and 32, were even born. As they grew up, we went from the one on my back dribbling olallieberry juice down my neck to having them actually contribute to the family picking. I love the fact that Gizdich has always allowed children to pick, even though they emerge from the berry patch rather purple. This year, the berries ripened earlier than usual, which caught me unprepared. Since I had no time to pick, I ordered two flats of already-picked olallies. They were gorgeous! They had obviously been picked just that morning. All of them had the sheen of fresh berries and were dark and luscious. While I was at it I also purchase two containers of olallieberry purée, which saved me the time and mess of sieving half the berries for jam. The cobblers are in the freezer and there are three batches of jam in the cupboard. Although I missed the enjoyment of picking berries, myself (and I do enjoy that), it is nice to know that the already picked berries are of such high quality.

This was my first time going apple picking and I had an absolute blast. We went at the peak of apple picking season and the trees were COVERED in delicious apples of all varieties. We picked 10 pounds of apples and so far every single one we have eaten is delicious. I recommend chatting with the staff before picking since certain apples are better for baking, others better for eating straight up, etc. etc. ALSO - they have a wonderful picnic area. My husband and I brought a little picnic out with us. We also purchased their apple juice (which has no preservatives or anything at all added to it) and it is phenomenal. You absolutely have to at least try it! We got a slice of apple pie as well, and it wasnt my favorite (Im biased towards the pie I make at home), but it was solid.

Gizdich Ranch is a local destination for good times and outstanding farm fresh pies. Their apple pies are so yummy, youll probably buy two. I know I do every time I go there. In the summertime they also offer pick your own strawberries in their near by field. Theres lots to do if youve got kids and it makes a wonderful destination for a picnic. The Ranch is centrally located in the Monterey Bay.

While picking strawberries against a beautiful backdrop was the highlight, the place has much more to offer - shaded picnic tables, nice walks through fruit trees, delicious pies at the on-site cafe, and more...all supported by helpful staff. Heads up: youll get weak to no cellular coverage with some carriers with the exception of one or two specific spots at the ranch.

Weve gone here the past two years when apple picking even though u-pick is either closed for the season or too small to bother with but the pies they sell are awesome, so its worth the trip every time. Plus their Apple cider is delicious and also worth the trip. Theres a small play area for kids and a large gift shop if youre looking for nick-knacks and such.

I would drive back to the middle of nowhere just for their boysenberry pie! My goodness, everyone told us how good it was and it still was better than we expected! They also have an apple juice slushee that is delicious! I wish we had more time to explore the farm, but regardless that pie made it worth the trip!

If you like a place that offers homemade pies with ice cream and in a country setting its excellent i especially love the olallieberry pies and they have another pie that is a BlackBerry and raspberry combination that is just the right balance between tart and sweet.

What a gem! The pie was fantastic and a nice shaded eating area to watch the kids play in. You have to know this place is there otherwise youll miss it! Parking is tight and the line was long when we were there on a Friday afternoon.

My most enjoyable visit to Gizdich was during the morning, mid week in February. So peaceful enjoying the hills of Watsonville with a nice cup of coffee and a delicious piece of pie. Did I mention it was quiet and peaceful :)

. . If you like good pies or even if you dont like pie, this is the place to go to. Yeah its a farmhouse on a working farm . If youre in the central valley take time to stop and pick some fruit and DONT FORGET THE PIE.

Came here for berry picking and stopped for some pie. Love their blackberry pie! Do yourself a favor and buy a whole pie instead of buying individual slices. The whole pie is huge and ends up being much cheaper.

The best freshest pies ever, good daily boxed lunch sandwiches. Fresh apple juice, one ingredient: apples! Antique shop, picnic tables, agricultural views. Truly worth the drive, very family friendly.

A very nice place for family visits, specially kids! We went for strawberry and black berry picking, the strawberries were not plentiful but what we got was tasty and nice. Very well organized!

Cool place. Took the kids strawberry picking and it was cheap. Got there at 10 am and it was not bad. Not too many people. Only cost $10 worth of berries that we picked ourselves.

Amazing Deli/Pie shop. Cant go wrong. Keep a look out for their seasonal pies! My favorite is a classic apple pie a la mode when I visit and get a pie to go.

We have been coming here to pick strawberries for several years. Other than large juicy pesticides free strawberries, the place is kids friendly.

Always really fun to go picking and get a slice of pie from the bakery. It can get really crowded on some of the weekends, but still worth it!

The experience for kids is unique, it is worthy the trip. Plus they a Dutch Apple pie that is worthy every gram of sugar on it.

Nice pie. Friendly staff but unsure why this was #1 on the Trip Advisor, things to do in the area? It was ok but not amazing.

CA

Great pie! Seriously hard to find and off the beaten path. You can get a slice or a whole pie and watch the pies get made.
