Some good food some bad food; some good service some bad service. For the price, I expect it all to be good. I was initially seated by one waitress whose name I did not catch. Though the restaurant was practically empty, it took almost 10 minutes for the second waitress, Flor, to come and take my order. I sat there wondering if it were perhaps because I do not have as generous of a clothing budget as my fellow patrons clearly did. No matter. I generally dont mind elitist wait staff as long as the food is good. The lox that I ordered for an appetizer was flavorful and of good quality as was the cream that came with it. The hard-boiled egg and capers sprinkled along the rim of the plate however did not much add to the ensemble. But it was not bad. Steak-Frites is a simple staple available at any respectable brasserie and is generally a foolproof choice: Very few restaurants can get this wrong. Unfortunately, Brasserie Capitale turned out to be one of the few. Though the fries were both perfectly cooked and perfectly flavorful, and the steak was cooked to the exact level of doneness that I had requested, the steak had zero flavor. I have had steak frites in West Africa that were more flavorful and more closely met the standards of a traditional French brasserie. When I made a comment to my waitress Flor, she simply replied, "im not your server. Ill get your server." Then, as she walked past me she practically yelled into the bar, "She wants to change her order" and the whole dining room could hear Flors eyes rolling in the tone of her voice. Bizarre claim since I had neither communicated nor intended as much. When "my server" Roman -who up to this point had only delivered the food, so I could not possibly have known was "my server"- offered to let me order something else, I refused mostly because I did not want to stay any longer in a restaurant which had just served me up for public flogging. I simply asked for salt, ate a small portion of my plate, and retreated. For months, Ive been hearing advertisements on NPR for this restaurant. I wish that the proprietor would have invested more in quality ingredients and less in advertising for the experience was a bitter disappointment.

Weve been fortunate to dine at some of the finer restaurants in the USA as well as Europe. Here, giving Capitale the benefit of a doubt, weve tried dinner a couple times and a lunch. Wonderful interior; yet, thats where anything positive ends. Food is marginal at best, uninspired, inconsistent, and, frankly an insult to the concept of "French Cuisine". Service is spotty. And, unfortunately, the Chef and a separate dynamic manager left within a short time after opening. Smart men. Oh, and, you pay Paris-like prices. Ridiculous! Theres too many other choices in midtown. Bon débarras Capitale!

Food was AMAZING! Best duck Ive had in a long time, and my über-persnickety dining partner raved about everything that reached his lips! Wish we had room for dessert, as Im sure it would have exceeded all expectations, as well. I had read reviews that noted the service was not up to snuff, however, every staff member we came into contact with was jovial, attentive, & prompt! I have only the utmost regard for this establishment & will be adding it to our shortlist of special occasion restaurants. Thank you, Brasserie Capitale, for making our anniversary dinner one for the books!

We had fantastic dinners here twice. Brasserie Capitale is clearly in the company of Sacramentos finest restaurants, yet feels relaxed and fun, not stuffy as one might expect a French restaurant to be. Extremely well curated wine and beer selection that is surprisingly reasonably priced; Cocktails are $9, wines by the glass are $10 and under. Everything we have had here from salad to appetizers to entree to dessert have been high quality, delicate and refined. Highest recommendations.

Wonderful! Five Grain Mushroom risotto was delicious! Small hopping place, friendly service, good variety of wine, didnt try their many delicious looking desserts this time, but next time Im in Sacramento I will be stopping in for sure! Great for dressy, romantic date night.

The escargot was some of the best Ive had. My rack of lamb was perfect. But the best part was the great service. As soon as a dish was finished the plates where gone. Our bread basket never was empty. Most places you have to ask for more bread.

Great food, skilled staffs, has the usually French dishes, for example, foie gras and escargot (some "French" restaurants dont have these…). Good location for a decent meal, romantic occasion, and social events.
