This has to be the worst excuse for a sandwich I have ever eaten. The reason I even gave them one star was because the roast beef was at least 1" thick. But we paid $17 for one sandwich and 2 drinks, so it should have a good amount of meat on it. The thing is they pride themselves that they are all about the meat, not telling me that the bar where you add all your sandwich fixings had no tomatoes, onions or lettuce . You had to settle for sliced pickles and beets, carrot & celery sticks and some very plain pasta salad. Had I known the only thing there that would be good for my sandwich was sliced pickles I would have left. So finding nothing to put on this beef sandwich I asked if they had any Bar Ba Q sauce, and they said no! So I was stuck with white bread with a inch of roast beef with pickles on it. It had to be the most tasteless thing I have ever eaten. I was splitting it with my husband and was so sick of eating plain flavorless meat that I gave him rest of my half. Oh yes it came with a side and my husband picked the baked beans, and it came in one of those little white paper cups you might use for a side of salsa. There might have been 2 tablespoons of beans in it. Knowing this was our first visit we were asked what we thought , and I was honest and told him exactly what I thought ( though in a nice way). He said we dont have those extras for our sandwiches , because thats how everyone else does it , we like to be different here , its all about the meat here.I told him " boring flavorless meat". To top it off when I got home I had such bad heart burn I thought I was having a heart attack. If you like a flavorless heart attack meat sandwich this is the place for you!

Love this place. Been going here for decades! A great sandwich place with an awesome complimentary salad and condiment bar! I love the exterior courtyard eating, although you can eat inside as well. I love the hipster art from Mr Robot and others, all the succulantgardensmermaid, the birdhouses, the fountain. I love to sit by the fountain. I also love to sit in the stained glass area in the corner. It would make a great group luncheon area there. The roast beef sandwich is awesome! Love the squaw bread there. And absolutely love the sale bar with pickled cucumbers and radishes and veggies. A nice pasta salad as well. Free drink refills. Waitresses come around and ask. There banana cream our is pretty good. Parking an issue which is why like to go at eleven in morning or after the non rush. You can park at the big lot in Brockton right at Merrill and noon rush not a big deal then. Friendly casual place. Nice people. Simple menu. Beautiful atmosphere. Youll love it. Only open Monday through Friday for lunch.

Limited menu that features sandwiches. Self service. You stand in line and order from the counter, pay and choose garnishment from a refrigerated table. Then you are allowed to choose your table. Most seating is located outdoors and is decorated in an eclectic motif. I ordered the Corned Beef on rye bread. It was served with mustard and pickles and a choice of baked beans or coleslaw. I opted for the slaw that had a unique flavor and was not sweet at all. Pepsi soda products are available. Table staff are very attentive and quick to get your drink refills. However I was put off by the young lady asking me for my tray while I was trying to situate myself at the table. She explained that are needed for customers that are arriving. Im not sorry I experienced this lunch spot but I dont see myself returning anytime soon. There are several small eateries in the area I prefer.

Whats the HYPE! Okay got in line, here you see regular white bread looks exactly like Weber bread, so I get scaw bread. This was the WORST SANDWICH EVER! no taste . My friend bragging about the potato salad if you like picked potato salad this is your place. Canned beets, all the boring veggies you can eat! THUMBS DOWN. $10 BUCKS FOR A CAFERTERIA LOOKING SANDWICH. The seating area is great and the staff is very attentive, but the sandwich NO LIE is just regular bread, it looked like something I would have got in elementary school kitchen. NEVER AGAIN. PANERA BREAD HERE I COME. THIS PLACE FOOD IS FOR THOSE WHO DONT CARE FOR FLAVOR! SORRY A HUGE HUGE THUMBS DOWN

The staff is very friendly and attentive and the food was simple but good, I had tuna on rye and enjoyed it. I would say that the outdoor patio is the real selling point. Its a clean, quiet, and large area and is a huge part of what makes this place worth coming back to. Thank you to the staff for making my visit a memorable experience!

Lots of atmosphere. Neat patio area to dine at with a lot of memorabilia on the walls. Serves sandwiches and salads. My roast beef was very dry. Would recommend to a friend. Sandwiches come with chips and some sides (pickles, pasta salad, horse radish) that you choose from a side bar. Sandwiches are HUGE!

Sandwiches to die for! I had a pastrami on squaw bread sandwich with potato salad. It tasted like heaven! Plenty of delicious condiments available. Everyone there is so friendly and chatty. The environment is just peaceful. LOVE IT. Definitely going to recommend and visit this place more often!

Its a convenient location close to downtown restaurants and bars. Rooms are nice sized and clean. Breakfast was decent and the gal who was helping out in that area was very kind and helpful. Im sorry I forgot her name.

It was the best sandwich I have ever eaten.the staff is friendly and accommodating the grounds are beautiful and tranquil. The banana cream pie and chocolate tart were the perfect ending to lunch.

If you have never been to this jewel of Riverside, you definitely need to put Backstreet on you things to do next week! Sandwiches are terrific and the banana cream pie is sooo good, a must have!
