I stumbled upon Cafe Pascal by using the Yelp "Nearby" feature as I was out in Richmond on business and needed to find a close by lunch place. Im glad I did. This little place is charming and full of character. French style character. Nicely setup, it has quintessential French cafe chairs and tables. Ive been lucky to have been to Paris around 20+ times over the past 15 years and always liked sitting in those chairs. There was also live music. Very interesting for a lunch cafe in Richmond. Made me want to stick around longer. Nice touch. Surveying the menu, I was struck by the amount of choice yet it stayed within cafe character - not too much but not the typical limited menu most cafes have. I order the veggie panini. Sitting outside, theres a very nice little patio area with the parking surrounding it but it still felt nice - not like youre in a parking lot. Out came the food. On first glance, I liked what I saw - a French style panini. Not a squished American sandwich in a panini grill but an actual French style creation. Did I mentioned that it was about 5 minutes after we ordered? Good for a business lunch. How was it? I could have had two. It was the best panini Ive had since I can remember. Service you might ask? Extremely personal. Exceptionally welcoming. Duly impressed. They made sure we had everything we needed, checked in without being overbearing and... this was for a cafe lunch, not an expensive restaurant. Cafe Pascal is right off the freeway in Richmond. Easy to get to. Instead of screaming by at 75, crank the wheel onto the offramp, hit the brakes and head into the parking lot for a great lunch. Now, Ive only been there once and I dont give many 5 stars... but in my opinion, Cafe Pascal is deserving. Im pretty convinced that if I ordered anything else, I would be as impressed.

Oh my. I really dont do these review things, but I had to for this place. I went in on a Saturday for lunch since I work right around the corner. I odered a roastbeef sandwich on wheat. I then paid almost $10. $8.95 plus a small t.i.p.. went back to work to find out, my sandwich was made with two thin slices of roastbeef, one piece of cheese, and a tower of lettuce, with two slices of tomato. I tried to return it for a refund. The Indian manager (from India) made a specticle of the situation. He called security and the police. All I did was ask for my money back. Did not cause a seen. I was not loud. Did not even get upset. Long story short. I recieved my refund, and will never return. I work for a biological firm that send a lot of business to this particular venue. They have also agreed to not return to this place. Total disgrace to sandwich making.

Coffee is good. A little pricey, but I would come here again for coffee exclusively just due to convenience. However, food was mediocre at best. Ordered a carrot cake, but got a cheesecake instead. Luckily, I didnt really mind. However, one too many things just added up. Bacon was the thinnest Ive ever seen, Normandy omelet was dry, and hash browns looked pre-packaged (as a lot of the food here probably is).

Definitely one of my favorite places for breakfast and lunch in the east bay. The food quality is extremely fresh, and much of it is organic. They have very filling and nutritious meals, especially for the price. Its a pleasant environment to be in. The staff is super friendly too. I highly recommend this place!

The food is good as for atmosphere not so bad until you go around the bathroom area it stinks and no freshness in the bathroom no air going out anyway as for service well they only have one person working in front and she had no smile on her face only stress she looks like she can use a vaction.

Very comfortable atmosphere and tasty food. Maybe one or two things could be a bit more jazzed up, but the menu is solid.
