Came here the first time a year ago to celebrate a birthday and we were very disappointed (halibut way over cooked, dirty glassware, and a fly in our dessert). We decided to come a year later to celebrate a birthday once again and this experience takes it all. What a HUGE disappointment!! First, we had reservations a week ahead of time, originally for 9 people, but called Wednesday to change the reservation to 7 guests. I walked into the ladies room which was disgustingly filthy. When we were seated, they placed us at a table much to small for 7. We asked for a larger spot but were refused. We were seated in front of the window which was stifling hot!! We settled down and ordered drinks and decided what to order. We ordered two appetizers, and our meals. Finally, our food arrived, minus one meal which they say they somehow screwed up on and it took 20-30 mins to bring the order as it had been requested as. (She ordered shrimp and scallop plate, they tried to give her salmon!) Appetizers never appeared. When we asked, the response was "oh, well, do you still want them?. Ha! No, that is why we ordered them! At this time I ask for a refill of my iced tea. When it comes, it is in a glass with bright pink lipstick and crusty stuff stuck to the inside of the glass! I returned it and asked for a new one, which ultimately took 30 minutes to get to me. Anyway, three of the seven meals were edible. The rice was hard and crunchy as the side with one meal, the carrots were so hard that they were inedible on one meal, the lobster over cooked and rubbery on one meal, and my linguine with clam sauce was so salty that I couldnt eat it. I did not replace my order. I ate the shrimp cocktail that finally arrived instead. Dessert was ordered and the key lime pie was pretty good, but one of the lava cakes was pretty darn sad. No lava, and the cake itself was rubbery and gross. What a joke to have both experiences at this restaurant turn out so bad. When the manager came out, her only offer to us was a 20% discount. We will NEVER go back here. What an absolute shame. Beautiful setting, terrible experience.

Was pretty disappointed with my experience tonight. For the price and atmosphere, I really expected to be blown away. However, not the case. To start with, I ordered oyster rockefeller. I could barely taste the actual oyster from the rediculous amount of parm cheese. Next i decided to try the strawberry smash drinks. First one was great! Next one was watered down, no alcohol/fruit taste like the first. For the entree, i ordered the blackened swordfish and my wife ordered the king crab legs. The swordfish was extremely bland. In fact, the only blackened flavor i tastes were the grill lines. I had to mix every bite with the rice and veg medley just to get it down. My wifes crab legs were awesome though! Biggest crab legs ive ever seen. However, that was all she could eat due to the sides being bland as well. Hardly worth $50. I also decided to try the lobster bisque. I had this brought out with my entree. To be honest, i had a hard time keeping my previous food down after my first bite. Again, BLAND. Tasted just like a can of tomato paste, with a horrible seasoning sprinkled over the top, which increased the BLAND-NESS. To top it off, the waiter tried to explain this by telling me, "sometimes the cook just cant get the flavor right." After my experience, im guessing he/she is like this with every dish. $120 spent here tonight for sub-par food. Joes crab shack is less than a mile away, ill go there next.

Went there on Sunday for lunch. My sister had called ahead to reserve a booth table out on the patio for 6 and a baby. My wife and I arrived a little early, and when we saw the table, it was not going to be big enough for us and a high chair. The hostess said a high chair would be a fire hazard, and we could also see that, so we asked about the booth at the end, where no one would need to walk except us, but where still told "NO", we then asked about moving a couple of tables together, and were told "NO". We decided to wait inside for our sister to arrive, and let her work it out. While we were waiting, all we heard from the two hostesses were complaints about how this customer wanted this, and that customer wanted something else. It seemed that all they did was try not to accommodate but rather put up roadblocks. They eventually set us up at a wonderful corner table with a nice view. We ordered several different dishes, but when one of us wanted to order the "brick Chicken" off of the menu, we were told that they could not do it because the grill is still being used for bacon and other items, and would take about 40 minutes. We also had to remind the server about bread and water refills that were asked for a couple of times. The food arrived hot and looked good, but unfortunately it looked better than it tasted. The fried fish was greasy and limp. Not worth the high cost, and we wont be returning.

Not worthy of 4 stars. 3-3/12. The bad: Seafood was bland. Often the only option was saute or broil the fish then dip it in their special gravy. For the price, they should actually have a season blend on the fish. The free range chicken was black. I tasted more carbon than rosemary and herbs. The server warned us not to get the gumbo. I thought it would be helpful to pass on this advice... The good: I enjoyed the marina view. The wedge salads were visually appealing and tasty. The inbetween: The service was OK. I was a little annoyed that we had to wait for a table even though we had a reservation. We had one main server and also an assistant. They were very prompt at refills, but the food took 30-40 minutes to be served. By the time our dieting friend finished her salad and her soup, the main courses were still not on the table. I am not an LA native, and I was surprised that they would not let us pay the bill on more than one or two checks. (We had a party of 8.) Overall: Not a bad place, but I would not recommend it. There is so much more flavorful and interesting seafood in the Redondo and LA areas. Bluewater just does not stand up to the competition.

We stayed at the Portofino in the area for 4 days last week. As soon as we arrived we went to the bluewater for lunch. Great time, and great views. Wife had the Ahi and I just had shrimp. Prices were reasonable. Just a good way to relax after an 8 hour drive from AZ. The last night we were there, wife ran in to get a reservation. Girls up front were Bitches. So we went elsewhere. Basically, my wife was crazy for wanting to have sushi at our table. DUH!, you have to have sushi at the sushi bar, not your table 20 feet away. Since we didnt know that such a request was un-acceptable to them, we just didnt make our reservation. Went to Old Tonys and had a great time there. Overall pretty good place, but attitude that we dont really appreciate when we are on vacation.
