Ace of Sandwiches is fantastic. My first lunch there was probably at the worst possible time. A Saturday with a whole soccer team ordering sandwiches. It took a long while for me to get my sandwich, but they worked so incredibly fast and it was fairly obvious it would take some time. The next time I came back, Lauren remembered my name. Im pretty sure everyone of the usual crew remembers my name. I dont know how they do it. There are places where the service is "good", but the service at Ace of Sandwiches feels geniunely friendly. I think they are proud of what they do, and it shows. They know theyre awesome and the sandwiches are awesome. Its because its true. The sandwiches arent extremely cheap, though they have some good deals. You can find more organic and more "perfect" sandwiches. What Im not sure you can find, is a place with as interesting of a menu, sandwiches that are as fun to eat, and such a good experience overall. Sure, more seating would be nice, but Ace of Sandwiches is what it is, and does it perfectly. The menu is diverse. You can go for some of the safer bets or go pretty far out there in the sandwich category. I like the Texan and the Rocky. My favorite, hands down, has to be the Brown Derby. Its insane. If I were to have a sandwich before being executed, it would probably be the Brown Derby. The dutch crunch bread is awesome. It has bacon, coleslaw, egg, pastrami, thousand island, and probably a few other thinsg Ive forgotten. Its enough of a meal that if I get a drink or snack with it, I have a pretty tough time finishing it. Unless you really want that much food I wouldnt recommend getting it every time. But for me, its an awesome special treat. Its extremely tough to compete as a restaraunt and caterer in the Bay Area. The expectations here are incredibly high. However, even here, Ace of Sandwiches really delivers. If youre looking for an good casual meal, this is the one.

Awesome sandwich spot! A little hard to find, the parking lot is tiny and the place can get crowded quick. However ordering was quick, the variety of sandwiches is overwhelming! They have everything and if you dont like something on a sandwich, theyll even let you substitute within reason. ;) I ordered "The Realness" and asked for sourdough (comes with sweet french) and the wich was delicious! Bread was fresh and soft and crunchy as it shud be. Just the right amount of meat, veggies, and condiments. And best yet, the sandwich size is generous and filling! Price is about $9 so thats not ideal but you dont feel ripped off either. I will def come back to this spot! :)

The amount of sandwich combinations on the menu is mind boggling! It’s best to do your research first and come ready with your order. Actually it’s probably best to order on the phone or through their app as the wait can get long. I really wanted to like this place. And I want to think my first sandwich here was a just a dud. I had the “Billy the Kid” and they weren’t kidding when they say the sliced chicken is piled high. It was enough for two people. Unfortunately the chicken was very bland and didn’t seem fresh, which just drowned out the other interesting flavors. Maybe I just picked wrong and I’ll definitely try this place again.

My third favorite sandwich place in Palo Alto, after Driftwood and Village Cheese House. The sandwiches are generally very good. The sandwich I ordered for my young son (standing there next to me as I ordered) ended up being far too thick for him to eat, around 2 1/2 inches, so I had to do some surgery on it. Upsides: Good sandwiches, fresh ingredients, good prices, open Sundays. Downsides: Very little seating so plan to take out. Also the menu is bewilderingly large (50+ items) and the person taking my order was not helpful in sorting through it. As a newcomer I didnt feel especially welcome.

This place is definitely worth trying. Was hard to locate as its is small and hard to miss, but typically the holes in the wall are the best places to eat. This place has a variety of sandwiches to choose from and it is hard to decide on what you want to eat. The food is amazing although the price may be on the higher end. The food was made relatively quick despite the amount of people there. Would definitely recommend to others to try and will absolutely be coming back.

This is a pretty decent sandwich shop that serves Boars Head meats in generous servings in all their sandwiches. "The Realness" here is an awesome sandwich with all sorts of meats in it. Their dutch crunch bread was a bit disappointing though and not exactly "crunchy" or very fresh. The ingredients inside the bread were amazing though and they have quite a variety of sandwiches, or you can make your own as well.

The Atomic Pastrami and Louisiana Lightning are both REALLY delicious. Nice, but not overwhelming heat with good flavors. My wife and I order both and split them. Delicious. My only gripe is that last time we ate here they seemed to skimp on the meat a little bit. Looked like a new guy making the sandwiches, so Ill give give a little grace and hope its not a new policy.

The Ace is basically the best place to get sandwiches in the South Bay. Theres no sandwich Ive had there that I didnt enjoy, even the veggie ones. The sandwich board is huge and if you have never been there get a brown derby or a page mill (if eggs arent your style). Also get a potato salad, its delicious and they must be making their own mayonnaise.

Wife and I wanted a sandwich on our way to Stanford for a doctor appointment and Ace of Sandwiches was Googles suggestion. I couldnt have been happier with my Over Under and she was thrilled with the Realness (she likes her sandwich simple). We plan to stop here whenever we pass through now. Download their menu to see the ingredients. Great job guys!

Im not a huge fan of sandwiches but we stopped here because the food at the office sucked donkey balls that day. The sandwich was uninspiring which is a surprise because it had so much stuff in it. Needs more kick, more something to make it stand out. The sandwiches here are also on the expensive side.

The menu here is amazing - they had 44 numbered sandwich ideas, plus about a dozen named sandwiches all written in chalk on the board. I love seeing the suggestions and letting one of them jump out at me. The quality of the sandwiches was excellent.

Excellent sandwich place with wide choice of vegetarian and non veg sandwiches. This place is also ranked one of the 10 best restraunts in Palo Alto. Its worth a try and you will love it. Also, every 10th sandwich is free... So, grab one and enjoy...

This is a great, local sandwich spot right on El Camino. All the sandwiches have witty or inventive names. The sandwiches are made fresh everyday. This has been my go-to-sandwich place in Palo Alto, near Barron Park for the last two months.

Pretty good sandwiches. Id dare say the menus has WAAAY too many items on it to make sense. On the day I went, the staff seemed overwhelmed and struggled to keep up with what didnt really seem like a whole lot of customers.
