First and foremost I am obligated to mention that this place has, hands down, the best corn tortillas Ive ever had. Theyre fresh and amazing and if you havent had fresh tortillas you MUST try this place. Next I want to say that their salsa, albeit spicy, is so delicious. They have green salsa too if you ask. It isnt the cheapest in the world but certainly on par with other high quality Mexican plate restaurants. You can come here for a cheap burrito to go if you want but the real experience is dining in. The food is big and hot and most of it comes with their heavenly tortillas. I strongly recommend this place for groups because its always super empty. This part of lake Merritt is sadly not doing so well so take advantage of that and bring a bunch of friends here. There are always large tables available with short notice. Great for parties and large groups. It is also a good date spot because its low lit and kind of intimate and the food is top notch. They offer various drinks and I believe sometimes bottomless margaritas. The drinks Ive had were good and cheap for their size. This is also a good place to take kids because they have a kids menu. In general I really love the food here, its so fantastic and as more white-serving mediocre Mexican restaurants like El Papalote and others get more popular, it gets harder and harder to find REALLY EXCEPTIONAL Mexican food. As a foodie, this stuff is fantastic. I very strongly recommend the Birria because it is fantastic succulent meat that makes the mouth water. This will get you a real experience that you can only get at a place like this.

Average priced food for the bay area, A couple really good items but if you are vegetarian stay away from the beans and rice it is full of lard,and the salad is a sad warm spoonful of shredded lettuce with thousand island dressing.. I have had such bad service there I wanted to walk out, then a couple times the same person was pretty friendly. It is one of the few real restaraunts in the area so Im glad they are there. Im guessing it is very authentic but healthful it is not.

Run away from this place! I called them to order a pick-up and when I came them asked for more than twice the price displayed on Google. The ladies were the opposite of nice... Now the food: just disgusting and brings shame to all Mexican food! Save your money and go anywhere else.

The sopes are great...but my all-time favorite is the whole, fried fish with a la diabla sauce, I really recommend this dish. The staff is always very welcoming, especially if you act like youve been there before. Dont judge them...they wont judge you!

Love the place and food.The food is really good and delicious I recomend everyone what like mexican food should go there and eat. Good location and excellent service. Prices are cheap and confortable. Definitely I will go there always.

BLECH! Bad service, couldnt even keep water refilled....A Burrito means meat wrapped in a tortilla, yes thats it, meat and tortilla = $10 , Taco was meat, onion and cilantro, so basic for not basic prices. Will not return.
