Looking for a place that offered Saturday brunch in OC; this restaurant was on many of the top 10 brunch spots in OC articles I read. Excited to try this place out, I was at first a bit disappointed in the overall ambiance. Not the classy local place I was looking for, more like a bar /pub than anything else. Nevertheless they have both front and back patio seating ( which you can smoke in) . location is decent but not great with a view of an empty street / alley (as the name suggests) on the back and just the shopping center on the front. Food was good. Something special about the California Eggs Benedict. Overall walked out spending $35 including the bottomless mimosas. Service was very good. Overall decent place, not what I had expected though.

Waaaaaay too noisy! Have been coming here for several years, but will no longer go for dinner or Sunday brunch. The place has been taken over by 20-somethings that drink too much, are loud and rude. Its a real shame as it was always our local "go to" place for any meal of the day or night. Went there last week and literally had to scream to be heard by guests sitting across from us! We all gave up even trying to talk. Will try lunch and see if thats any better with regard to noise, otherwise, The Alley is out for us anymore. Sorry guys...well miss your great food!

I felt like this place looked really good. Also, my friend said it is really good. Unfortunately it was closed for the day because it was the 4th of July, but my day was just such a damn good day that Im giving this place 5 stars anyway! I probably wont be back, though.

Went there to celebrate my daughters birthday. First time for all of us and we loved it! Food was amazing, service was great, and who can beat $10.00 bottomless mimosas! Nice pub type atmosphere. We will be back!

One of the great staple bars on Newport. The food is amazing and this place remains as a timeless bar in OC. Stanton the bartender is great and by far one of the best bartenders in Orange County.
