If I can rate a 0 star I absolutely will. The service and management was horrendous. Absolutely ridiculous! I had called in to place a reservation for a party of 8 which they said they were able to accommodate. 1-hour before the reservation, they called to confirm that we will still be coming for the reservation. I responded that we will be there. Their response was "k were just confirming. Itll be ready." We arrive to the restaurant 15 minutes before the reservation the hostess said were a few minutes early so they are just getting the table ready. So he walks in the restaurant, someone else later walks out and said "Did he tell you whats happening?" We responded with confusion, "No." She then says sorry we didnt notice we placed too many reservations someone had written it down somewhere else and we didnt see it." The lady apologized very unapologetically and quite snarky actually. Her exact words were "Were sorry, but theres absolutely nothing we can do." Which is the truth, but now were paying for their mistake and incompetency. I then asked why did you guys call to confirm and said it will be ready when clearly it will not be. Why werent they just honest on the phone so we could have planned accordingly instead of just telling us when we got there. I wasnt given an answer, just a walk around the park response. So I gave up on that topic, I asked for an estimate wait time and she said "Oooh I will say it will be AT LEAST a 45 minutes wait." By then It was already past the reservation. We asked them to call us back when the table is ready while we walk down the street to look for other options. We walked down the street to look for a different restaurant that can accommodate us. We walked in to the seafood restaurant down the boardwalk, they were able to put 2 tables together and make a table for us. They called back 30 minutes later saying the table is ready. By then we had already sat down and ordered drinks already. I just told them we will not be returning, ever! Ill give them the credit that it was less than 45 minutes estimate wait time but it was way after our reservation time and after we found a different place. I spoke to the manager Julio on the phone very briefly about the situation. When I asked, "Why did they call to confirm the rest when they clearly knew they had over booked reservation?" And the phone call conveniently gets disconnected or he hung up on me. But he did call back a couple minutes later. Needless to say, there were no communication within the workforce. Usually Ill always give a place a second chance before I put in such a dramatic review but this was just unacceptable. I will not be giving this place a second chance and will never be returning! Hope yall have a better experience than my non-experience!

Pros: The food was delicious! We received the food quickly. The environment was nice. Cons: The food made me sick. It was a bit on the pricey side. When we asked to substitute the cole slaw for something else (or to simply gives us a few more fries instead of the cole slaw), the waiter checked with the manager who said no. This was disappointing because everywhere else would have made the substitution for us. Potatoes are dirt cheap. They wouldnt lose money by substituting. So perhaps Fly N Fish doesnt seem to want to make their customers happy? Not sure on that one. The kid at the door was very pushy to get us inside asking us 4 times while we looked over the menu if wed like a seat. (Yikes!) Overall, it was a good experience along with the nice environment, but the people (including the manager) certainly dampened the experience.

We are regular patrons of this restaurant, all experiences have been great. Except tonight....we ate at the bar, the bartender, he never gave us his name, waited on us. He was arrogant and condescending. We sat there for 2 hours watching a baseball game. In the bottom of the 9th inning the bartender turn3 d it off, without asking if it was OK. When I asked why they said the owner told him to. I tried to approach the owner, but he denied being the owner. Such arrogance. We used to like this place, Vinny went out of his way for us. But this bartender, and the owner, have a sense of entitlement and arrogance tgat do not deserve your money. Please dont go here as they do not appreciate it.

This has nothing to do with the food quality of the restaurant itself or the integrity of the place, but rather the owner himself. My friend and I had rented bikes for the first time and were unaware that we were not allowed to be on that part of the side walk. He proceeded to call us names and when we apologized he called us "stupid bi**hes. He couldve kindly explained, but chose to use derogatory terms towards us as people watched him yell. Extremely unprofessional and rather rude. Especially when we expressed our apologies for not knowing. If the owner is that rude to two girls on a bike I wouldnt want to see how he is towards his staff and customers. No thanks.

My husband and I went on a Friday evening and the place was packed, but we easily got seated. We ordered the Fried Oysters, my husband loved it and he doesnt like oysters. We devoured our Calm Chowered! Waitress was friendly and didnt pressure us to get any drinks so we ordered a whole bottle of their Pinot Grigio, Santa Cristina. We ordered their Fish and Chips as well. Everything was fresh and we had a great time watching the Chef cook/sear food! Good atmosphere!

I have an uncommon food allergy to peppers. When I explained that to the server she giggled but didnt offer any suggestions. I chose several dishes that appealed to me but every time I made a choice she went back to check with the chef .After several attempts, she said that every dish had a peppery spice. Most chefs would have offered to make something special but not here. Not accommodating to peoples special needs!

Great food and Sunset View of the waterfront in Newport. With a mix locals and tourist for the perfect mix. The environment is a up scale restaurant and spirits The kitchen is open to the restaurant and Bar allowing all of the great food preparation to be viewed and admired. One of my favorite Friday night stops for dinner Randy

Great location. By far the best clam chowder Ive ever experienced on the West coast. Wonderful fresh oysters, shucked when you order. Truffle fries that smell like a bit of heaven. The seafood is always fresh, and treated with respect by a chef who knows what hes doing. Friendly professional service.

Such good food and service. Its a fun place to go just for happy hour, however there is usually a wait later in the night and gets a little cramped and loud. But, its all part of the experience. Definitely going back.

This restaurant stands alone. The food is passionatly perfect. You can taste the attention the chef puts into his food in every bite. You have not experienced Newport Beach unless you have eaten here.
