I love everywhere i go with my favorite Uptown Girl, but im torn about this place. and the night was already special to me because it was exactly 5 years earlier that i had first met Jean P. in the flesh, but... okay, let me start with the pros (aside from the aforementioned favorite Uptown Girl): -the MIA sushi roll was surprisingly reeeally good. whoda thunk to top sushi w sweet plantain? apparently MIA did, and it was awesome. -the flan as well was reeeally good. super caramelly, the way I like most things. *wiggles eyebrows* -the rest of the food wasnt bad, but just okay, so, um... okay, so the big con: -the drinks just werent getting it. I started with a LIIT. while I appreciate that she (the bartender) topped it with sour mix instead of soda, it was too much sour mix. i needed a few glasses of water to release the pucker after drinking them. Jeans coconut mojito was tasty, but lacked any kick, & Josies drinks werent getting it either. I mean, we saw bartenders pouring some kinda Hi-C (or the like) "juice" from a bottle into the drinks. for what they were charging Id expect better. I mean, Im not at a backyard bbq over here. what you need to know: COME WITH CASH! -they only take cash after midnight. -they ONLY take CASH for TIPS -who knows where the nearest atm is... -happy hour is advertised as 2 for 1 drinks. in reality they just ring each drink as 1/2 price - so dont think if you had 3 drinks that fourth is due you - you can just end it with paying for 3 half priced drinks. i know it may seem unimportant, but it can throw things off if youve paid the bill and are expecting that 4th free drink so when you order it now you have another mini-bill to pay. -dont be surprised if the bartender/waiter gives you the bill when youre not even tryna leave yet. her shift is probably just ending and she wants her tip. like now. because you can only tip in cash. but she doesnt bother telling you that when she gives you the bill.

I absolutely love this place and I dont really like sushi that much. Parking is in the rear so you dont have to worry about finding street parking. I liked the atmosphere of this place cause it also has outside seating for a warm day as well as the sushi bar inside. My group and I ordered a large selection of rolls and sashimi but here are some I highly recommend: the potato shrimp, oxy roll, dynamite, firecracker roll, highland park roll. All the rolls were so flavorful and honestly, I prefer this place over Kabuki! Thats how amazing this place is. I also loved their service as well. Theyre super friendly and they make you feel welcomed right when you step on their porch. I will definitely be back soon!

My husband I went here a few months ago and were unhappy with the whole experience. The sushi was just average, in that the fish was fresh enough but the presentation was a bit on the sloppy side. It took us a very long time to get our non-sushi entrees, such that our server kept apologizing to us. We ordered the steak rare and it was not just well done, but actually overcooked and tough. It sounded from our server like this was not the first time they had this problem, and we had to start our long wait over again to get a new plate. This place is not particularly cheap, and definitely not worth the wait.

Nice ambiance. Very clean and modern. Good for dates or a yummy solo meal at the sushi bar! What I ordered: -Freshwater sea eel: Good! Not the best that Ive had but still tasty. -Firecracker roll: I was slightly disappointed with this roll. It tasted very Americanized and I thought that it didnt have enough fish in it. I felt like there was too much rice and tempura flakes. Free green tea ice cream with yelp check-in! Free parking (in the back) or you can find street parking

The service was terrible. There was hardly anybody in the restaurant but it was still difficult to place our order or get refills on water, ponzu sauce, etc. Three of the items we ordered never came and at the end we received another tables bill. When we questioned it, the waiter told us it was about the same and the other people paid ours. He was very annoyed when we asked for our own bill...and he charged us for the items we never received.

Excellent experience. Very friendly chefs behind the bar, where I sat. Quality of the food was great, you would have a hard time finding better at the price, which was lower than what I was expecting by half when the bill came. They didnt have a few items I normally get because, according to the chef, their selection is based on what they can get fresh that day, and what I was asking for wasnt up to par. Thats the way it should be.

I loved this spot! The inside is small, but there is outdoor seating available. The decor is clean and not overwhelming. The food was really good and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. There are a few parking spaces out back, through the alley, and plenty of street parking. Highly recommend this place. Ill be going back there again.

Minamotos is a great little sushi bar & dinning restaurant.I have to give this place a 5 start because of their amazing baked rolls & their great customer service. They are fairly price but you get what you pay for here!Friendly staff & the owners are great people running around and making sure everyone is pleased! Do not recommend this place, their staff is very rude, disrespectful and unapologetic. If you are looking for a nice hang out dinner with friends, wife, significant other or whatever this is NOT the place!! I will never come back to this place.

We just had a wonderful meal -- Camilo Roll, Teriyaki, Steak and Dessert. Excellent food, service, great night to sit outside. Everything was perfect. The food was fresh and the hospitality just right.. Saw some friends there. Great Oxy crowd.

Arnie makes you feel welcome when you show up. Ive been to other sushi bars were the music is blasting and everyone is screaming, crowded lines of DBs. And at Mias its low key and you can converse without screaming or listen to foul language.

They dont really deserve a star. Service was very very slow, very small portions and very expensive for mediocre food. We waited for a dish for 30 mins or more just to find out that they didnt even make it... such a big disappointment.

Mediocre Americanized-Japanese food. Plenty of unusual rolls. Suggest staying away from any tempura items--they are horribly breaded and likely to be premade. Too bad there are not more choices for Japanese food in the neighborhood.
