"Dont rest on your laurels." The owners are resting in their glory after creating fame. Today went to Lilianas Tamales on 1st Stree in East L.A. Bought a dozen of assorted tamales for $20 a dozen tamales (%1.66 per tamal- expensive). Later at dinner time, I heated up two tamales on a small steam tamales pot. And the tamales were old with a hard texture. The corn-maza was dry and tasteless. A new tamal never gets hard and in five hours. The frozen Ralphs Supermarket tamales taste better than the Lilianas Tamales. NEVER GOING TO BUY TAMALES FROM THIS PLACE. ************************************************************************ "CREA FAMA Y ACUESTATE A DORMIR" El dia de hoy fui a Lileanas Tamales en la calle primera en East LA. Compre una docena de tamales surtidos. Mas tarde a la hora de la cena, saque dos y los puse a calentar al vapor. Y los tamales ya eran viejos. La masa estaba seca y de mal gusto. Un tamal nuevo no se pon e duro en cinco horas. Saben mejor los tamales que venden en Ralps Supermrket que los de ahora en Lileanas Tamales.

Disgusting food. It shocks me how this restaurant functions. They offer greasy horrible food that is not cheap. They are ripping off the community that does not know better. Tonight I ordered chicken enchiladas in green sauce to go. While I was waiting I bought a nice homeless guy a carne asada burrito. He sat and ate it and I asked how it was! He said not good. He was spitting out most of the grissle meat. He said he gets street meat at the taco stands for a dollar and it is MUCH BETTER. When I arrived home the enchiladas were a disaster! It was pure mush. No structure to the tortillas like enchiladas should be. It was literally like someone ate it and hurled it out. Pure disgust. Weird pieces of dark meat that smelled very odd. Dry with a chunk of horrible cheese on top. How do these people justify such garbage Id like to know. This is not the first time I go there. My Father who lives in the area eats there because there simply is nothing better. Every time I have ordered it is inedible. Sadly people in the area have few alternatives and accept this vile food and pay a premium. Its not fair to them. During the Holidays people line up for their Tamales which utterly shocks me. They are dry and pure masa. It is wrong how this company takes advantage of the community. I could go on all day about this operation, but I will refrain. Instead I have reported them to the proper authorities. Shame on you Lilianas!

The food here is ok. I was expecting a big wow factor on the authenticity. Its a Mexican restaurant but its blended with an American style that doesnt quite sit on flavor. I agree some of the food here is delicious but it can do better on flavor, for the price they have set up. The tacos to me tastes a little bland and the food item I really enjoyed was the Gorditas. The Chicharron here tastes delicious and their salsa is tasty. Overall I would say that this place is ok at most. I would come and eat again but not as often as other real Mexican restaurants.

Hace mucho tiempo la comida era muy buena, yo llevaba a mi mama una vez a la semana a comer, desgraciadamente una de esas veces fuimos testigos de que un cliente encontró cucarachas en su comida, nunca volvimos a regresar.
