Its very handy to have Payless Mkt in Lockeford. Its like a very large convenience store. But like a convenience store the prices are high. There are sales which get the price down to normal competitive prices on some items. When I moved to Lockeford 20+ years ago Payless recognized its regular local customers and you got a gift--a bottle of wine--at the holidays. No more gifts for some years. The other reviewer who described huge turnover doesnt sound right. Im in there regularly and have been for years, I recognize some of the same faces for a long time. They do hire youngsters and they move on to bigger things I suppose. Because Payless does hire a lot of youngsters who you have to believe are making low wages I have reflected that Payless has a business plan that involves low wages and high prices--hard to beat, from Payless point of view. The lines are short, a lot better than Safeway in that respect. Of course you would be foolish to do any serious shopping there, given the prices. Oh, and the butcher dept is good my wife tells me, so she does do some serious but limited shopping there.

I used to work there and the management treated their staff horribly. It probably explains the constant hiring. Yeh, the weekly deals are mediocre. I live in Lockeford so I will only shop there if I need something immediately. Otherwise, I wont shop there. It is convenient for those who travel through Lockeford on their way to Valley Springs or Jackson, but be prepared to spend at least 3 dollars for for each item. I say be shop at discount stores before you travel or get your big shopping errands done in Lodi. Avoid I.G.A. at all costs, no pun intended.

There is a delicious Chinese take out place in the back of the store! Need i say more? Also their butchers and meat department are absolutely top notch! They have a great and helpful crew and are one of the only stores that will offer to take your bags out to your car and load it for you! The prices are a bit high for certain things but its Lockeford for Gods sake and when they do have sales they are worth it!

Love tis place. Great meat counter, and better selection than most places. If you compare the quality of the meat and products to other stores, the prices are about the same. Harris ranch prime meat is worth the money. Not to mention....the Chinese food counter is awesome too!!

Honestly its a pretty great place with good prices but one side was way hotter than the other, but also the employees have a great sense of humor. Overall I say this is a place to stop.
