Came here for dinner and was expecting a little more based on the reviews. While Piatti does have a great ambience and service, the food we ordered was lacking in flavor. Food: They start you off with bread and a plate of olive oil + balsamic vinegar. This was quite good! The oil and vinegar included what seemed to fried garlic chips and spices to give it a nice kick of flavor. For appetizers, we ordered the beef carpaccio. This was probably the best carpaccios Ive had in a long time! The beef was perfect and the toppings complemented the meat fantastically. While all this sounds great, our entrées were were quite subpar. She had the mushroom rotolo and I had the penne with lamb bolognese. The rotolo had a good wild mushroom taste but was pretty bland overall. As for the penne, I was a bit disappointed out flavorless the dish was. The lamb was okay but the dish as a whole didnt really come together for me. Service: The service was pretty good! We didnt have any issues although it would take them a while to get to us. Overall, I wouldnt visit Piatti again next time Im in La Jolla. Their appetizers are fantastic but the main dishes we had were boring to say the least.

I took my girlfriend to Piatti for an anniversary dinner and the experience was very favorable. The food is excellent. The best Italian Restaurant in San Diego if you ask me! I loved it and my girlfriend loved it to. The food didnt take forever to arrive (and it was pretty busy to) and the taste is just something you have to try if your a fan of fine Italian dining. .I recommend the Rotolo if your a mushroom lover or the Ravioli with the lemon cream sauce, both are amazing dishes! The atmosphere is really nice, be sure to get a patio seat if you are taking your significant other out on a special occasion, the best experience is out on the patio for couples. The food is not expensive either, it is a great price for the quality and size. The service was great, our waiter made sure we had what we needed and the starter bread, our entree, drinks & dessert were brought ought promptly once cooked. Thank you Piattis for making our night memorable and tasty!

Incredibly crowded on the weekend. Even overheard the hostess complain to a waiter about how loud it was. And it really was, especially because the tables are so close together one might wonder how waitress even get through them. We got lucky without reservations but I highly recommend you call ahead just in case. The place was packed so the drink service was slow but our waitress was so nice about it. All that combined barely brought this review to a 4. The food is just so good. Their non-alcoholic mixed drinks are amazing. I had the pomegranate, lemon, ginger, orange one. Forgot the name but look for it. Oh and the lemon sauce over the spinach basil ravioli is to die for. I brought leftovers to a friend and he was also blown away. Seriously just great food and it came out quick, even in spite of the throngs of customers. Recommended.

Wandered into this place after some lengthy beach walking on La Jolla Shores beach. Its just a couple of blocks off the sand. The interior of the restaurant is very loud, crowded, and hot, even at night. The kitchen is open to the dining area and there isnt great ventilation. Bathrooms are a logistical nightmare and also about a thousand degrees inside. That being said, the patio is amazing and so is the food. Service was friendly and knowledgeable, although slow. We werent in a hurry so that was fine. Id definitely go back. House cocktails are fantastic, pizza is epic (I had one with peaches on it!), and whole menu is enticing. Despite the petty complaints, Ill be back.

I went here on a business trip dinner. The place looks really elegant and clean and the servers are fast and intelligent. They give you unlimited bread and this good olive oil and basil-vinegar like dipping plate which was all pretty good. I ordered the stuffed ricotta ravioli with both lemon Alfredo and marinara sauce and they were both AMAZING. The lemon sauce was really good and I was sad when I finished it. Good, but expensive, selection of wine. My peers got different plates and they all enjoyed their food. The only thing that I would say is that its kinda expensive around $15-$20 a plate. But it has good atmosphere and servers.

One of my favorite spots in La Jolla! Location is quaint, and the decor is clean. Great date spot. Service has been consistently excellent; urgent waiters and attentive kitchen staff. My favorite dish by far has been the Orecchiette(?) pasta. House bread is served with a balsamic vinegar, olive oil, basil, chili mixture. I usually end up filling myself off of bread before my main dish arrives. And I dont mind, the bread and dip are the reason I return to Piatti over and over. Mind-bogglingly delicious~

Sorry to be the party pooper, but I find this place very mediocre. The daily special pasta with artichoke is overpowered by the tartness from capers. Tiramisu was almost bad.... The espresso to soak the lady fingers is very watery, so the bottom layer ended up very soggy. Its like dipping sponge cake in water.... Indoor dining area is cramped with tables very close to each other. Super noisy. Our waitress had almost no smile at all. The only good part might be the location.

Read the reviews before coming here. The lemon cream ravioli was definitely excellent. Smells like a lemon shortbread cookie. Such an interesting food experience. The starter bread/olive oil was good but I didnt think it was as amazing as everyone raves about. Their chocolate silk cake was really good. The crust is pecans and walnuts and gives a satisfying crunch, the chocolate itself is smooth and rich, and the raspberry sauce gives just the right touch of acidity.

We have been here for dinner several times. There is always a 20+ minute wait even with reservations. Food is better than most, always good but seldom great. The atmosphere is pleasant and the service is always very good. The space gets very crowded and very loud, not the best place for an intimate dinner date. Better if you can sit outside. With wine and appetizers plan on around $50 a person.

This quaint italian restaurant is a hidden gem of La Jolla. They start every meal with their fresh bread along with their olive oil based dipping sauce that is delicious. Every meal Ive had here so far has not disappointed! From the perfectly made drinks to the delicious entrees, everything Ive had here has been delicious. One of the top italian restaurants in San Diego in my opinion.

I have lived here for years and my favorite favorite place to eat is Piattis! You can show up after the beach with flip flops on or for a special occasion in full cocktail wear...you fit in and feel comfortable. The food is perfect! I love the bread dip best. The staff is friendly and honestly, I just cannot say one bad thing! My favorite place to eat in SD and LJ!

Absolutely a horrible very loud and cramped dinner. You can barely hear yourselves and the service was Okay but it took forever to get a waiters attention. you had to have YOUR waiter for anything no one else will do it. They dont mention you have to reserve ahead of time either. The drinks were horrible and pricey. Even the food wasnt great!
