I love this place! Chef Pasquale is the best! He is so charming, friendly, and a very hard working man. It seems like hes a one man show -- announcing the specials, taking our orders, bringing the food and pouring our drinks. I mean, there are other servers there but he seems to love what he does and doesnt mind serving his guests and making them feel at home. Even though hes the owner and chef, he makes sure to make all his patrons feel taken care of. On top of that, the food here is amazing!!! My husband and I really enjoy their crab cakes as an appetizer. I dont think its on the menu but its usually one of the specials they offer. The crab cakes are served over a mixed spring salad with a light, honey mustard dressing. Its amazing and a must if you like crab cakes! They also have this delicious canneloni with chicken, spinach and ricotta cheese with a tomato cream sauce, also one of their specials and not on the menu. I highly recommend trying that if you like ricotta cheese and vodka cream sauce. Their Osso Bucco with fettuccine and gnocci with meatballs are superb! This place has the freshest, best, melt-in-your-mouth gnocci Ive ever tasted! The ambience here is classy and cozy, not too pretentious. Feels like Im in a restaurant in Italy! They also have a nice wine selection and divine desserts. Their tiramisu is the best Ive ever had. My husband and I love coming here at least once a month on our date nights and this little gem in La Jolla has always been a winner!

We came in off the street and were greeted and seated shortly. The waiter (I assume he was a family member) was so pleasant and helpful . We ordered the Capellini Bosc/Mare and an extra dish to share, as we are seniors on vacation and would be unable to save any leftovers. It could not have been any better or more authentic. We added an insalada caprese, which was truly delicious. Never have we had such soft, fresh Buffalo Mozzarella! I guess the chef makes that as well as everything else on the menu, even the bread. As for the person who said portions were small, we shared this dish and couldnt have eaten any more. And no, the restaurant is not dirty and all staff members were so friendly and efficient it made our experience feel like we were with old friends or family. As we were about to leave, the owner/chef brought us a tiramasu . I guess Ive never had really authentic tiramasu because Ive never found it that delicious. This one was! We regret that we do not live near La Jolla so that we could come often. But we can recommend it to YOU.

My wife and I highly recommend the food. Both orders were very good (the clams were a bit on the small side). Excellent place to eat though. But, if you want to relax and take your time for dinner, this is not the place. The restaurant was not very busy at all when we got there about 5:30PM. Maybe four tables taken. Even so, we were so rushed by the server. We barely got our menu when asked what we wanted to order. When we did order, the food was out in record time. From the appetizer to the main course. Noticed the server was like that to all customers. There was no need to rush. We were in and out of there in no time at all when we wanted a nice slow, relaxing time.

We stumbled upon Cafe Milano while killing time waiting for a concert to begin, and what a find it was! The staff was friendly and attentive and the food was incredible. I had the cannelloni stuffed with chicken and spinach. The tomato cream sauce topping it was amazing! My husband had the lasagna bolognese with a side of house made sausage--perfectly spiced. The owner surprised us with tiramisu on the house--so light and delicious. We will definitely be willing to drive up from Chula Vista for a return visit.

Ill keep this short - great food. I mean seriously authentic, amazing Italian food. Owner was extremely nice. Took great care of us and was very friendly. Helped us with our menu choices and made great recommendations. We were stuffed when he brought out the dessert menu, and even though we declined, he still brought us a slice of tiramisu and joked it was "just for decoration" as he laid down two forks. Needless to say next time we are in La Jolla we will be stopping in. Thanks for a great experience!

After having lived in Italy for two years, it is often very hard to find good Italian food that compares to the real deal in Italy. I thought the food at Cafe Milano was pretty good and would recommend it to anyone. If you like tortellini get the tortellini milano dish, it is top notch! My only complaint is that they charged me $8 for two scoops of gelato. I mean the gelato was great but just way over priced. Other than that great place! The people who run the place are Italian which I really like.

Something to remember- perhaps the best food experience weve ever had. The service was friendly, genuine, and helpful. The restaurant was authentic, homely, and comfortable. And the food... Incredible. Some of the most fantastic Italian food Ive ever tried, fresh, flavorful, and beautiful. From appetizer to desert, to fresh Italian coffee, we loved every single bite and moment. Recommended to anybody.

If you appreciate authentic Italian food, you must dine at Cafe Milano. This is a family run place that takes pride in preparing flavorful meals using the freshest ingredients. All regions of Italy are represented and every course was done to perfection. You can spend twice as much at a trendy faux Italian restaurant but will not find a better meal in La Jolla. Quando si mangia qui, si mangia in Italia!

My wife had the gnocchi and I had the risotto with sweet sausage. Both were delicious. The marinara is perfectly seasoned and the risotto was rich and creamy. The owner provides great, genuine service. This place is really a gem. If you want traditional Italian cuisine, this is the spot. The tiramisu is wonderful as well.
