Yushoken Izakaya & Ramen dethroned Fukada 2 Go and Honda-ya Box to win my friends CFG choice award. CFG means cheap, fast, and good taste. :-D * Service is fast and friendly. Food quality and quantity are comparable to similar restaurants. It passed my Japanese buddys taste test. :-P * Lunch special gets 4 stars. Choose chicken katsu or karaage for $6.50. Include cabbage, edamame, rice, soup, and tofu. Add curry for 50 cents more. This is a bargain in Irvine, especially next to UCI. * Ramen gets 3 stars. Choose thin, thick, or extra thick. Recommend #1 Shio Tonkotsu ramen $7.95 or #2 Tokyo Shoyu ramen $8.45. Get extra ramen free. Soup is good (with less msg, oil, and salt), but I prefer richer flavors like Yamadaya. * Good selections of desserts, drinks, and snacks. Kirin draft beer 16-oz is half price at $2.30. Many snacks are not available for lunch, when they are too busy. * They do not offer take out or eating outdoor. Most restaurants in UCI University Center offer eating outdoor at the beautiful courtyard. They paid rent for it, so why not use it? This is puzzling. O.o

Personally, Ive had much better ramen. Ive been to several places in Los Angeles -- notably Little Tokyo -- and was always impressed by their broth. The broth and noodles here are sub-par at best. The flavor doesnt jump out at you nor does it really have the same texture for the noodles. In addition, the pricing in comparison to the places in Los Angeles is much higher -- especially if you consider the quality as well.

I was excited to see tskemen on the menu. I give it a try. It was excellent. The noodle was cook perfectly with the right amount of chewiness. The broth was porky and intense with little sour at the end. I kept coming back for some more, but each time I ordered, it never came out the same way it did on the first try. After like 4 more tries, I finally gave up. Their regular ramen is just okay, nothing special.

The ramen at Iza is killer, despite the fact that I will never master chopsticks. I will embarrass myself in any way possible to down a bowl of Tsukemen. Minus one star for the laughably poor service at the bar. Louder than a college house party in an "Oh damn am I too old for this?" kinda way.

Compared to other Ramen shops such as Santouka, Shinsengumi and Daikokuya (My top 3 faves) the quality of the ramen is very low. The broth is not as flavorful nor as savory. The noodles seems stale as you can tell from the texture. Service is pretty quick and the servers were friendly.

Tommy, our waiter was super nice and knowledge. Wait time for our food was little to none and the food tasted very delicious. I definitely will come back for another hot bowl of ramen at this place on a cold night

This is my favorite place in university center and some of the best local ramen. The wait can be a bit long a peak hours, and the returant atmosphere is nothing special, but the ramen broths and noodles are great!

Food is reasonably priced and tastes good. The ramen is good and lunch special is a good deal although it no longer includes miso soup.

Yummy ramen! If youre a student be sure to ask about the student specials. They also offer discounted lunch specials.

Food was good here but the service is INCREDIBLY slow. Not worth going unless you have 2 hours to spare.
