I was expecting much more from this place considering they had nearly a year set-back on their grand opening. The only thing worth having out of our meal were the oysters and live uni. The servers were disorganized and the food came out in the most peculiar order I have ever seen. I dined with 3 people including myself that evening. I ordered oysters and fresh uni for the table to start and the rest of the table ordered a clam chowder and chicken wings for appetizer. I ordered foie gras for dinner, the other two dining with me ordered soft shell crab and mussels as their main course. Now, the first thing to come out was the soft shell crab, which was intended to be an entree course. At this point nothing else was brought to the table, not even the drink I had ordered. So only one person is sitting at the table eating their entree while the other two just watch. Then about 5 minutes later, the entree of mussels were brought out. 5 minutes after that, my foie gras was brought out and it was cold, as were the mashed potatoes under it and the bread was very under-toasted and became soggy quite quickly, not ideal for foie gras. Then the fresh uni came, which was amazing, but I would have preferred it to come with the oysters. Finally, the clam chowder came after we had finished our entrees and of course lastly we were served our oysters, you know for dessert. Not a single person at my table ate the proper course at the same time. They also accidentally tried to give us a dish we ordered twice. The servers seemed to be running around like chickens with their heads cut off (pardon the crass reference, but it fits) not knowing which table ordered what. When a server actually arrived to place the food on the table, the were constantly confused as to where to place the plate on the table and it took them much longer than one would imagine to just put the food down. I have never in my life experienced such poor disorganization from a restaurant. I understand you are just opening, but havent the people you hired worked in the food industry before? Dont they know to serve and make the appetizers first, then serve the entree? This was appalling to me. I dont like to leave negative reviews, but I am rather stunned by the lack of professionalism and training the staff at EMC has. This place isnt cheap either, so a better level of service is to be expected.

Review for SUNDAY BRUNCH (10am-4pm) Ok, I know the price seems steep.. ($49/person) But OH MAN, is it worth it! Seriously dont skip out on this Sunday Brunch deal. All you can eat and drink for $49 (with tax and tip it rounds up closer to $60). Bottomless mimosas and a half lobster for everyone. The quality of the food is pretty spot on. I think this buffet would compare to a Vegas buffet. I tried mostly everything I could before getting full and the only thing I wasnt a fan of was the Foie Gras Flan but only because that was my first time trying goose liver xD. They have truffle pasta, seared salmon, oysters for days (all you can eat raw oysters!? Come on!), snow crab, clams, "kobe beef", lamb shanks, and your regular array of breakfast foods like sausages, french toast, and hashbrowns. Random asian food like congee and asian style pork belly. Clam chowder and random cheese platters.Theres also a sushi handroll station near the entrance along with a dessert table. The dessert table has a CREPE STATION. :L So save room for that if you want crepes. If you dont want the mimosas, you can opt out for coffee, sodas, or juice! Also, you can ask for cranberry instead of orange juice but the cranberry will just be in a separate cup from the champagne. Best brunch Ive had in a long time. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The location use to be an Elephant Bar so to the right is your bar things and dranks. Also a food station set up along half of the bar.

I notice that a lot of yelpers really rant and rave about this place. I found it to be wanting. Im a huge fan of seafood, sushi, and all foods raw (raw raw. Not that that hippie vegan nonsense). Dont get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with EMC other than me just not loving it. EMC has multiple locations and has built quite the name for itself. This location is its own free standing location right off the freeway with plenty of parking. From the outside it is very aesthetically pleasing. It is very large and spacious also. When you walk in, you are greeted by the hostess right way. Once you get past the hostess station, you see how large it really is. They put on quite a show in the center of the establishment. All their seafood is on display in the center on ice, and the chefs/cooks are in the same area. Inside, is just as nice as the outside. The menu is pretty extensive and offers rolls, sashimi, and sushi. They also have hot meals. My brother an average amount of different things. We didnt get stuffed, but we didnt leave hungry. EMC is super expensive. Our bill was over $200. I wont go on about the food quality, it was just good. I will say that ironically that in the opinion of my brother and myself that the best dish they had was garlic noodles. I do recommend EMC. Just dont go expecting the best sushi or oysters youve ever had. It is also not for those on a budget. Until next time...

"Went to see what all the hoopla was all about" -M.e So...i didnt go on a Sunday or on happy hour and that was my first mistake!! I heard its cheaper in LA. My second mistake was ordering the shaken beef which I didnt care for because it was definitely something we can make at home, avoid---- Kumamoto 5/5 less salty like how I prefer, so so buttery and delicious Kusshi 4/5 had more of a salty after taste, a pretty strange sweet flavor which isnt rly in my favor. Fresh uni 5/5 this was something to rave about, presentation was also excellent. I didnt want to finish it, b/c it was so orgasmic. I need more!! Uni pasta 5/5 I appreciate the additional seaweed and roe, very fresh and ughhhh once again hit the G spot. Our waitress suggested this b/c theyre very well known for this particular dish, and she was right :0) Service 5/5 sweet girl Ambiance 5/5 natural lighting from windows and great bar The bigger question tho is, would I come running back? Besides my bill being way way way outta line (only $132) I wouldnt rave about coming back anytime soon. Id probably come back during happy hour now that I know its 3-6 M-F, other than that... you wont be running into me anytime soon.

Let me preface this review by saying this review is for the happy hour at EMC. The food here is pretty damn good - cooked to perfection and very flavorful. The oysters were surprisingly fresh and tasted delicious for the price I paid for them. The food is only reason I am giving EMC two stars instead of one. Back of house, excellent job! Keep up the great work. The service, however, did not reflect the excellent quality of the food. My friends and I went for happy hour and things were going fine until happy hour ended. We sat and waited over an hour for a bartender to come back and ask us for another drink - this never happened. The last time an item was charged to our receipt was at 6:54 PM. We closed out our check at 8:00 PM and took our business elsewhere. THIS IS NOT OK!!! Please have your front of house manager/bar manager train their employees better. If they are incapable of doing so, find someone who can. I will definitely not be coming back and will advise others to stay away. Unfortunate, because the food here is actually quite delicious.
