The food was very good and they used very fresh ingredients. My 13 year old grandson ordered a hamburger and fries which is usually a disaster in a typical Mexican restaurant. Thank goodness Cafe Capistrano is anything but. The fries were great and the hamburger patty was made from fresh beef not a frozen patty, you could taste the difference. I ate the last couple of bites from his burger. The coleslaw is excellent tangy with lemon and a hint of heat, not at all sugary which I appreciate. I had the pork adobo which was flavorful and moist. My husband the steak sandwich. Id like to return and try more Mayan specialties . .

Great food. The panuchos (which are puffed fried tacos stuffed with chicken and black bean, topped with veggies and more chicken) are insane. A touch greasy, sure, but you didnt walk in here for health reasons did you? The cochinita pibil has an amazing unique flavour, slightly sweet, quite spicy, with a little hint of smoke. And the chicken adobo is perfect. Excellent food, paired with Xni Pec or dog snout salsa, named for its ability to make your nose water like a dogs.

Updated 12-27-14: Service disappointing (hostess) this time but the food is superb… Fish tacos were delicious large fresh fillet of red snapper… Crab melt also delicious. Coffee was good.they charge for chips and salsa fyi -------------------------------- Good huevos rancheros. Friendly waitress. Cozy dog friendly patio in back. She brought water for my dog. Coffee so so... The Fish tacos are awesome! Huge filet of fresh snapper!

This place is small, the waiter said he couldnt make a salad even though we said we could pay extra. On the menu vegan was spelled: vegen. The restaurant is kind of unorganized and my chair was old and had crumbs on it that made it uncomfortable. The food was OK and the menu options arent very good. Overall this restaurant isnt that good to go to. At least the waiter is nice.

This place is bomb! Im from Southern California, we have some of the best Mexican food in the world and this place is at the top of my lists! The Mayan twist on the food gives it that extra little flavor leaving you wanting mooorrreeee. This is my second day in a row eating here and Ive considered moving to HMB just for this place. Anybody have a job opening close by?

We went there on a weekday after lunchtime and had the place to ourselves. It turned out to be an adorable cafe with great ambience and lovely Mexican music which my wife and I loved. We had huevos rancheros and a burrito.. both were tasty and the service was excellent!

We showed up at 10:20 & I had forgotten they open at 11:00 on Friday and as we discussed alternatives Arturo stuck his head out the window and invited us in anyway! The best breakfast around & killer spuds! Hats off and thank you!

Shhhh, this place is our little secret! Dont tell anyone! Great food, reasonable prices, good service. A nice variation on Mexican food, with a Mayan flair. A bonus is that it is off the main drag in HMB. Cant wait to get back.

Absolutely loved the veggie Burrito!! Nice small place on the way to half moon bay Ritz Carlton with friendly staff. Went with a couple of friends and everyone enjoyed the food. Would definitely revisit this place soon!

Nice service, clearly labeled gluten free options. Food is DELICIOUS. Could do with more beer/wine options, although what they have goes nicely with the food. Friendly and accommodating with our large dog.

On a late Sunday on your way home and you got stuck in traffic, this is a good option since most restaurants in the area close early. I like their chicken fajita and their fish taco.

The food is a little on the greasy side. I cant shake the feeling that the place is not that clean. I did get an upset stomach once, therefore I dont eat there with any regularity.

Not your typical Mexican food. Pork sandwich was tender with a soft roll. Crab sandwich wasnt just crab "mush" like some places. Friendly service and a quaint setting.
