This a wonderful place to stay, whether you are looking for a charming place to stay close to Yosemite, spending Christmas away from your maddening family, or having a romantic weekend. The decor is authentic Gold Rush era, complete with large claw foot tubs, and beautiful quilts on wrought iron beds. They have industrial strength hot water heaters; so the baths were to die for - I took 4-5 during our 2 night stay. They provide a good buffet breakfast every day, usually involving scrumptious muffins and also shelled hard boiled eggs (for the protein lovers in your group), among other options. The small town is completely decorated and looks Christmas Village- at Christmas - which is when we went. The Christmas Eve dinner was delicious and full of good cheer at their restaurant Fork & Love. Doug & Jenn are the owners, and have hired good workers who are invested in their jobs. Everyone was attentive, helpful and gracious. I especially recommend Karen - the massage therapist contracted with the hotel. She is a very caring women who will do her best to resolve your worst muscle knots. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We played int eh snow a little up the road at camp ground called the Pines. No fee to play for the day - unlike many of the snow parks in the area, and in Yosemite. And Doug was kind enough to let us use their microwave to heat up the home made Christmas Dinner we brought with us. The only reason they dont put microwaves in the rooms is that they take up a little too much space, and in my opinion would ruin the quaint and charming decor. They offer a certificate on Living Social; but the best way to book is directly through them. They will give you the same deal as Living Social, but by booking directly with them, you ensure that they get 100% of the money, rather than 0% from Living Social.Apparently they fill up very quickly in Summer; so book ahead of time, if thats when you intend to visit.

Nice little hotel for the price. Wasn’t my cup of tea. I’d more call it a bed and breakfast (and that’s being generous with the word breakfast) The rooms are barely big enough to get around the bed and the TV in the room was absolutely tiny and angled so you couldn’t really see anything, might as well just had some interesting reading material in the rooms. Didn’t really interact with the staff (didn’t spend any time in the hotel really). But mt wife said they’re friendly. The tub was interesting but I think I was a bit too big for it (water came up to my navel while I was sitting in it) and I had to squat to see myself in the mirror, overall I think this was a hotel built a while back for much smaller people. Sound carries pretty well, mt wife was woken by our neighbors snoring and I could pretty much hear their conversations from our room across the hall. The coffee at the continental breakfast was good, didn’t try the fruit or hard boiled egg as we had already decided to go somewhere else for breakfast. Free wifi was a godsend since we came in winter and it was dark by 5. They claim to be “30 minutes from Yosemite” but it’s really 30 minutes from the entrance which is another 30 minutes from the loop where you want to go, but it’s all a nice windy road so it’s a fun drive. Overall, don’t set your expectations super high, it’s an old place in a small town, if that’s what you’re going for you’ll probably love it, but I’m more into fancy full service hotel.

I should have done this long ago! I forgot to write a review but want to make sure I did. This place is one of my favorites. Not only is this hotel charming, there staff is so kind. They all simply want to make sure you enjoy your entire stay. They welcomed us with open arms and most important our fur baby! Our dog Franco didnt want to leave! The breakfast was yummy and the girl who helped us check in gave us wonderful information. There is a cute vintage vibe in the neighborhood. We explored it all. The thrift store was awesome! I couldnt get enough amazing items. The tea place a few doors down and a cute little btq. Across the street. The old saloon the town is like a scene in an old fashion movie! EVERYONE who works in this hotel is amazing! The owner was great as well. We met an awesome couple while we stayed and had our own fun gathering in the lobby. They have board games and cozy couches. The hotel has history photos along the walls and it made me feel like I went back in time. I cant wait to return! Also get the cheesecake it was tasty.

We overall liked the hotel. The hotel had parking space behind the building that was very helpful. Great location: the hotel is about an hour drive to Yosemite Valley area. Complimentary breakfast was very appreciated. Note that the breakfast is served in another hotel that was just across the street. I liked staying at a non-franchise hotel as it has its unique feeling. Despite of the cons I listed below, I would still recommend this place for Yosemite travelers. Some cons though: we stayed in a room with two queen beds that fits 4 people. But there werent enough storage space for 4 peoples luggage. Also the staff is available from 7AM to 10PM only, so plan ahead if youre arriving late. I didnt mind the wooden floor (I actually prefer wooden floors) but the floor wasnt the cleanest. Also there was no refrigerator in the room. We got to ask the front desk to store our next days lunch to their fridge. But it would have been nicer if there was a fridge in a room or in common areas.

We love the hotel. My wife and I stayed here the night after we got engaged so it has special meaning for us. They comped us a bottle of wine that night amd we were so impressed with the town and our experience that it was the first place we looked at when we went back to the area with our son two years later. The hotel is still exceptional and so is the staff. The town is still quaint and its residents friendly. If you are planning to book though with the intention of seeing Yosemite, make sure you check on the status of the Tioga Pass as it provides the only close sccess to the valley. If the road is impassable, youre in for a twp-hour plus drive so please check the terms of your reservation in case you want to cancel in favor of somewhere closer. Have fun and enjoy the wonderful hotel!
