Never again. They lost our Christmas Eve reservation, and they didnt apologize nor make any effort to accommodate our family despite their mistake. Heres the whole story: My mother called the restaurant two months in advance to make a reservation for Christmas Eve. When she requested the big round table in the window for our party of six, the person on the phone told her she couldnt have that table because he wanted to save it for a larger party -- not optimal, but ok. She made the reservation anyway. When we showed up Christmas Eve, on time for our reservation, the people working the front desk couldnt find the it - there was no record of our reservation anywhere. I work in the restaurant business, and I know mistakes like this happen - but what happened afterwards was inexcusable. The hosts neither apologized for having lost our reservation nor made any effort to solve the problem/make space for us somewhere. All they did was look at their reservation book and keep asking what our phone number was, as if we were somehow at fault. At 7pm on Christmas Eve, where were six of us going to find another place for a special dinner? Oh, and that round table by the window? It was occupied by a party of 5. We will never, ever eat at Trattoria Milano again, which is no great loss because the food has always been inconsistent. If I could give less than a star, I would.

5 of 5 stars Im a local and have enjoyed this restaurant for years under its previous incarnation, Villa Venezia. So now theres new management, but the same chef, and the place is even Better than before based on last nights first rate dinner. The ambiance in the lovely old Victorian home is charming and cozy, and the food was simply phenomenal. I had this amazing crepe dish which was truly squisito (exquisite!) -- Very authentic, perfectly prepared and presented, and with the surprise delight of a fresh arugula w/ fresh tomato salad on the side. The foccacia bread was delightful and I also enjoyed a killer glass of Zin (from our own local Nevada City Winery). And the service was OFF THE HOOK. You couldnt feel more welcome, or fussed over but in a nice unobtrusive way, really congenial and uber professional + altogether charming wait staff. And I noticed this man subtly hovering in the background, watching everything, and yup...turns out hes the new owner. So I shook hands with him upon leaving and congratulated him as they simply did EVERYthing right -- zero room for improvement -- bellissima! My dining companion had a seafood/pasta extravaganza in a bowl + a fresh mozarella salad of some sort and was equally wowd. So high praise from us both, and well deserved....wishing them all the best, and Ill Definitely be back....SOON!

This is truly a gem for Grass Valley. My girlfriend and I got there early and had some wine from the extensive wine list. There were only a few people in the restaurant and it was very quiet. I nervously proposed to my girlfriend there and she thankfully accepted. The elegance of the converted victorian home was very impressive. The Italian Chef prepared excellent dishes. My fiance ordered the veal shanks while I had the roast duck. Both dishes were delicious and the sauces were tasty and authentic. We were served by a friendly italian waiter who treated us like royalty and added to the dining experience. This a a great place for special occasions. Within an hour the restaurant was packed. Everyone there seemed to have a great time. There are excellent restaurants in Grass Valley. But I think this is the best.

Slow service watched our waiter wait and help everyone else around! Different waiter decided to help us. Salad was nothing but oil and lettuce, main dish was good. Had to flag down waiter for a drink. Then had to ask the bus guy for the check and the waiter sends the bus guy to give an apology for the slow service and they were slow because they were under staffed. I think the waiter should have explained the situation.

This is a great place for dinner. The service and food were top notch. We shared a beet salad as an appetizer that was very tasty. I ordered the pork chop and it was perfect. My husband had a chicken dish which he really enjoyed. The ambience is charming - perfect for an intimate, cozy dinner.

Always excellent service great for date nights or to bring your kids. A beautiful Victorian house with 4 inside dining areas and a outside patio area for dining as well. Fine wines half local half Italian and the best Italian food around. All around 5 star service every time

Absolutely fantastic dining, menu, service and atmosphere. As someone who grew up in a Victorian home, this charming restaurant brings a warm feeling of home for certain. Genuine Italian family with grace and character as well. A true gem.
