decent. good mole sauces. when i walked in i thought i smelled the distinctive odor of dead rats but maybe it was just the neighborhood. the food was tasty, horchata was good (hard to mess that up) it is an authentic type of cuisine which may take some people used to other local fare by surprise. the salsas are very complex but not overly spicy. i tried mixing several of them together and it was good. this place is within a far walking distance of work, so it was worth it to come here and walk back? yes it was. it was good. my tummy left the place happy and didnt suffer any post-meal stuff in the mens room afterward so.. that says something.. erm, anyway, yeh. decent. good menu. so thumbs up, 3 stars. if it was really really good and prices a bit better (for what you get, its fine, but ... mmm... could be either better food or lower prices, not sure which, its not bad, its good, really, its just not really super duper grande good.. from the name and decor you end up thinking they maybe have better chefs in rotation and have truly awesome stuff if you go at the right time. granted i went in the middle of a weekday so they probably didnt do their best.) ok, ill shut up now.. parting words.. kind of weird how you order though. you come up to the counter and order, then you go sit down and they bring it to your table, i mean, why not just have a waiter do that? ..shrug.. it is tastefully decorated in that Mexican hallucination sort of style. they also have a tequila bar off to the side so you can inebriate yourself pretty well with shots if you want to.

My husband is a pretty picky eater (hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, pasta) from growing up low-income, so it is hard to get him to try new things. But I won him over with the idea that this place was all-you-can-eat! We had just had a horrendous travel experience from the east coast and were stranded at the train station nearby trying to figure out how wed get some sleep on the station floor while waiting for our train that was going to be 15 hours late. I went to Los Moles to get us some dinner but I love how it reminded me of Ocoticlan in Morelos so I just barely persuaded him to venture into the dark with all our luggage and give it a try. What really sealed the deal was when he tries some of their green rice. They had beautiful clay pottery to hold the food, not a tacky buffet table. They kept the food well stocked but fresh. I heard (I could be wrong) that much of the food is grown on the owners farm. If so this place tops the charts.

A consistently decent if not spectacular place to get Mexican food. They have mole to go on your burrito or what have you, which is the main thing I like about this place, because the burritos themselves are just OK. The one thing I really like here is the mole habanero with tilapia (not the chicken version, be sure to specify), which is rice with tilapia and spinach piled on it, mole all around, and 3 tortillas. Looks great and tastes great, although it takes a while for them to prepare as compared to a lot of their other dishes. The free chips are nice if a bit too thick, and come with rather unique rotating salsas that to me are a bit hit-or-miss, really depends on if you like whatever they made it out of.

The weekend buffet is amazing! Get there before they open because folks line up to get a table. 7 types of mole, pozole, menudo, beans, cafè de olla, tè, freshly made tortillas, all the toppings you want plus huge platters of fresh cut fruit, gelatina and flan. I probably forgot something but you get the idea. The star of the buffet is the moles. Flavor explosions. Amazing. Even when youre full, youll want more! If you think you dont like mole you clearly havent tried these. Of course you can go anytime and order off the regular menu. Chilaquiles anyone? Im drooling just thinking about It! Make sure to get the jamaica drink the servers walk around with! Theres also a full bar. Just go.

I wish I could write more reviews for Los Moles. I should visit on a weekday, because Ive only been to the ALL YOU CAN EAT MOLE BRUNCH BUFFET. Saturday and Sunday only. Seriously. $17 (as of December 2016) for a choice of 10+ Mole. The corn tortillas? Yeah, theyre made to order because this place gets busy. Theres multiple types of rice & beans, plantains, mini chocolate flan, salsas abound and fruit.... Because you gotta have something light. The Mexican coffee is what I imagine Santa Clause drinking to stay awake on Christmas Eve. The service is stellar, and its in a great part of Emeryville. ***NUT ALLERGIES - Stay away***

Raul up front is a happy character who swears the mole is the same as mamas. Chile relleno was presented beautifully: packed with shrimp, had almond worked into the sauce, and thankfully was not deep fried. It was a 20 minute wait for a table so I sat at the bar and Isai (the only non family member ; ) was took great care of us and even gave us some of his story which is a plus. I didnt go for it, but the buffet looked solid and is served all day on Sunday and until 4 on weekdays. Second visit on a week night there was no wait for a table of 6 and I got 4 kinds of moles with chicken, rice and tortillas. Pretty tasty.

If you care about how a restaurant treats its neighbors - DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE ANY BUSINESS From hours before they open until after close, these employees feel the need to pound the floors of the entire building with heavy bass. Ive reached out through many different avenues attempting to address this, and nothing has worked. It shouldnt be hard to operate a restaurant that plays music without levels of bass that wake up everyone in the building, and basically make it impossible to live in the building during the day. The food is pretty good. But the disrespect they continue to show their neighbors is disgusting.

As a Mexican with a critical palette I can say that this place is authentic. Ive traveled various states in the US and this is the only restaurant I would recommend to someone looking for an authentic experience. The burrito, chile relleno, and Carne Asada are the dishes that Ive had completely recommend. Orchata and Jacmaica (hibiscus) waters are superb as well. Ive only been to the Emeryville location, the place is kept clean and the staff is friendly.

Food is yyuummmyyyy great traditional Mexican dishes and lots of options. Can go on Weekends for Buffet and pay $17 per person all kind of moles and flavor water like tamarind, horchata,Jamaica... Drinks are delicious. Have to try Cantarito as the classic Mexican margarita. Wont regret it and you will be back soon
