Spent 2 nights on the 3rd floor facing the pool, and it was a bad use of our money to stay here. The room is on the small side, with a very cramped bathroom. One side of the 2 queen bed is so close to the wall that it cant be used. I had to crawl to the end of the bed to get up from the bed. The room decor is drably and dated, the curtains dirty and ripped. The mini fridge is extremely small and no microwave in the room. On the first night a Friday we ate at the on grounds restaurant and the food was ok but not worth the price tag, you can get a better meal for the price in downtown Carmel. The highlight was the Bloody Mary, which did have some nice spice to it and had plenty of Vodka. After going back to our room around 9:45 a handful of guests started to use the spa and pool and were very loud. All the written and posted pool times are 9am to 10pm. By 10:40 pm they were still going strong and I called the front desk. I was then told, that the summer hours were 11pm. These are not posted anywhere. They offered no alternative for my family to get rest. In the morning we ate at the restaurant for breakfast. It was just a run of the mill buffet. Dont expect real maple syrup here, pretty cheap food, but the service was good. Saturday night more people in the pool at night, not as late but still out there. Taking a shower and leaving the bathroom door open made the smoke detector start to chirp and go off, there is no extractor in the bathroom. At check out, no one asked how my stay was or cared about how it had gone. The take away here is: This is not a place that will be quiet. Not a place where staff cares about the quality of your stay. Its way overpriced, and leaves a lot to be desired.

We stayed here, a party of 6, and we had called in over 6 weeks prior and reserved rooms. Upon arrival at 1pm, we find out that checkin time is 4pm?! No where on the website did it state 4pm, nor were we told over the phone. The wedding we had to be at in Carmel Valley was at 4pm, so being told this tidbit of information wouldve been greatly helpful for planning accordingly!! Also, like I said, we had 2 rooms reserved. When we checked in 1 room was given away!! And it had the same confirmation number even!! Even though our reservation preceded the other by many weeks we were forced to move simply because a Manager wanted to book someone who was paying a higher rate. That is HORRIBLE SERVICE. This is by no means a response to the lady that helped us at the front desk, she was extremely apologetic. This is a management issue and needs to be resolved immediately. Completely unsatisfied. Yes the rooms were nice and comfortable. There is a safe and a fridge. The shower doesnt have a door interestingly enough (refer to my picture, there is a half glass wall thing) so youll need to line the bathroom floor with towels so its not wet and slippery (safety hazard) when you get out. Worse service than a Motel 6, definitely dont recommend staying here. For the same amount of money you can easily stay somewhere just as comfortable with ACTUAL service. I really wanted to like this place too

The facility itself is fine...our room was decorated in "ocean" colors which was kind of fun. Nice upgraded bathroom. Setting was convenient for a wedding we were going to in Carmel Highlands. If your destination is Carmel by the Sea, then you must drive which then entails the task of parking ....often very challenging. Our problem was one of communication and confusing website. Booked our room on the website, as many others in our family did...however, we came to find out that some rooms booked were only $129 WITH breakfast, and others, were $139 WITHOUT breakfast....we fell into the latter category. When asking the front desk, we were told that we had "AAA Rate". Usually thats a good thing...but not here. So our room was $10 more and no breakfast...and the restaurant is a bit on the pricey side for breakfast. Needless to say, we were not happy. Asked a second person at the front desk, and she was less than friendly and implied it was our fault for not reading carefully. SO...BE ALERT! they have SO many price categories and MOST do NOT include breakfast... They do participate in Groupon type promotions, so look for those if you want breakfast when staying in this area! Im most annoyed & disappointed with the front desk and their attitude though. It would have created a lot of good will, if theyd just given us breakfast tickets like the rest of our family had....

If I could give this place negative stars I would. The protesting against the Inn at 6am on a Saturday was an unfortunate experience to endure on vacation. The manner in which the manager and staff dealt with the situation was down right unacceptable. Apparently these protests occur once a month. Once a month- meaning enough months have gone by to track such a trend. I am a reasonable person...I understand there are some things in this world you cannot control. However, when such unexpected (or perhaps expected in this case) things happen, I do feel it is the hotels responsibility to attempt to take some action. If not to remedy the situation, then to at least make their guests feel at ease as shouting from bullhorns blair through their hotel at 6am. If the manager and staff were the least bit concerned about our concerns, I think I wouldve been alright. However, the eye-rolling and condescending tone was very much not appreciated. New signage and a fresh coat of paint over an old motel is not enough grounds to treat customers as though they are lucky to be your guests. The unbelievable lack of professionalism left me with nothing but negative feelings and a desire to warn other of this epic failure of an Inn. Save your money or spend it elsewhere and hopefully your vacation will not be ruined as mine has.

My boyfriend and I decided to drive up the coast from LA to San Fran to visit some friends. I must say the drive along the coast form Big Sur to Carmel California has to be one of the most beautiful stretches of road in the world and definitely worth seeing. Stopped along the way to take many photos. We decided to spend the night in Carmel and a hotel search on Google took us to the Carmel Mission Inn. We had no reservations but it was a Tuesday night so they had rooms available. Liz and George at the front desk were very helpful and friendly. We took the bed and breakfast package which was $10 more that included a breakfast buffet for 2. The rooms seem newly renovated and pretty cool. I loved the bathroom and bath products. The breakfast the next day was very good as was the service. On George’s recommendation from the night before we visited Point Lobos which is about a mile from the hotel. We love the outdoors and would consider this a must see when visiting the Carmel area. Wish we could have stayed longer but I would recommend the Carmel Mission Inn as a great value in the Carmel area and I definitely would stay again.
