**BEWARE**-DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING BEHIND!! We stayed at the Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort, and decided to eat at Norte Mexican restauraunt after a long day at LEGOLAND. We were tourists at the time, so I carried my backpack everywhere we went. After our meal, I went to go pay for the food while my wife and daughter went to use the restroom. After paying, I realized that I had left my backpack at our table. I went back to the table, and the bag was already gone! I informed an employee about the bag, and he replied "oh yes, we have found it"...and proceeded to go get it. Almost 10 minutes later, a different employee comes back with my bag AND EVERY SINGLE POCKETS WERE OPENED!! It was a good thing that I had nothing valuable in the bag, but they definitely try to look for something valuable!!

I was told that Norte was the place to go, and this couldnt be further from the truth. I couldnt order off the dinner menu in the bar!! When I moved the the dining room I ordered just fine, but the server forgot to put my order in the computer. After 45 min, the server finally came over, after avoiding me the entire time and said my food would be right up. It promptly was delivered, I asked the poor delivery boy, in Spanish, what happened, and he laughed. I will never go back, and I would highly recommend Garcias Mexican Restaurant on State street. Its better, bigger, faster, and where the locals go. Ill try anything once, and Nortes will be a distant memory.

First time customer. They refused to serve my friends because they had IDs from WA state. Seriously? We are 30 years old and work in highly professional environments where we ID customers on a regular basis and deal with large volumes of cash. (That being said to illustrate that we know the difference between a fake ID and real ID. ) I have no issue with businesses following the law however I do have issues with idiotic policies that utilize faulty equipment to verify information. We walked down the street to Las Olas and experienced way better service, amazing food, and great service!! Go to Lad Olas instead!!!

This place is surprisingly good. Its attached to some time share property, so you get a lot of older vacationers roaming about (and from what Ive heard a lot of older swinging couples....ewww). They start you off with some nice crispy chips and mild salsa. I started with the "Truth" margarita and the truth is that it is now one of my favorites. Great balance of sweet/sour and alcohol. I took down 3 of them that day. I also had the carne asada burrito which was great. The carne was nicely seasoned. (Hint: Order it wet) If youre in the area...go check it out.

Went on a Thursday night hoping to get some good Mexican Food. Was referred there by the front desk person at the Best Western Hotel. There was a 15 minute wait. After being seating and the waiter took our order, then the table next to us brought their dog in????? Didnt know that was allowed. So had a frozen margarita which tasted like lime juice and crushed ice and a Chimichanga which was honestly the worst Id ever had. Oh yeah, the chips were stale. I think they market to people who would eat just about anything and enjoy it. Will never go again.

This restaurant has gone very down hill since 2009. The quality of the food is much worse than it used to be. They are using much lower quality food items now and is very apparent. I was warned by staff at the hotel I normally stay at. I went anyway and had a bad meal but I still wanted to give it a chance and tried again. Both times were not to my standards which I dont think are all that high in the first place. Its too bad but I wont be coming back any time soon. Its in a nice spot by downtown carlsbad though. Nice atmosphere.

Ambiance looked inviting and festive. Just what youd want from a Mexican restaurant. Food was extremely bland. When I asked for hot sauce the waiter looked puzzled and he brought me Tobasco. Sorry, that is Louisiana hot sauce, not authentic Mexican hot sauce. So, IMHO it looks like a Mexican restaurant but it serves chicken, beef, shrimp in tortillas with no seasoning. However, if you dont like spicy then this might be your ticket. The two stars is my experience but you could have a 5 star depending on your expectation.

Made a reservation for 15 two days before our event (this is the minimum number they will make a reservation for). They claimed to have no reservation when we arrived. Luckily they were not busy and we were seated. The service was great but the food is not as good as when I had been there in previous years. The salsa did remind me of spicy pizza sauce and the portions were fairly small. I had the crab enchilada which was okay. The rice and beans are pretty good. Think I will try somewhere else in the future though.

One word - HORRIBLE. This is the first time Im writing a review on a resturant for poor service, so this place gets to be the first. The customer service sucks! My party stood around waiting for 20 mins to be seated at a table only to have it be taken by people who barely walked into the restaurant. The staff did nothing and when I pointed to an empty table to sit at, they said we couldnt sit there. Needless to say, based off all of the horrible reviews on this place, Im happy we didnt spend our money here.

The queso dip is melted mozzarella with cilantro; the salsa taste like cheap pizza sauce(who put oregano in salsa?) I wish I didnt have to give a star on this crappy place only good thing is the drinks to get drunk enough to eat the junk they shovel out! my prayers are that I dont get food poisoning! Id rather run naked, full speed, head first into the back windshield of an SUV and get arrested for using PCP than come back and pay for anything at this place..... Sorry hard core fans!

Bad. Bad food. Bad service. All that in a nice building next to amazing Pacific Ocean. Salsa tasted like it was made from Ketchup with some spices added. They should not offer vegetables. Clearly someone who cook them had a very little idea about cooking. Splash of what tasted like a cheap tequila and was called Norte Margarita for 10 bucks was "outstanding" - two sips and youre done. Waiter serves you doing you a such a huge favor. Bad food. Bad service. One star is very generous.

The salsa they serve with their chips tasted like ketchup, so I asked for something hotter and they gave me a much better one! The food was good. Excellent rice. The rellanos were cold when they came to our table. The waiter was very accommodating and had the order remade and it came out promptly, but the cheese still wasnt super melty. Interesting sauces that had a different taste than your basic Mexican food spot.

Two fajita plates tonight, chicken for me and combo for my wife. Waiter was nice and friendly. Worst fajitas we have ever had. Brought on plate, no sizzling skillet, no flavor, no sauce. Was like canned beans, and rice, with meat just thrown in for protein. The meat and vegetables were without flavor and lacking without description. Even the salsa wasnt a fresh mix, perhaps enchilada sauce posing as salsa?
