My Husband and I went in on a Thursday evening. We like to sit at the stools and watch the rolls being made. We asked to sit there, we were brought drinks and miso soup. But no menus. We enjoyed our beers and soup, but still waited for five minutes and no menus. Finally I asked a grumpy waitress if we could see the menus, and her response was " Umm sure I guess, but you can just tell them what you want". My response, "Ok, but we dont know what you guys offer". We ended up getting a dinner for two, $32, well worth it. Came with qyoza, tempura, teriyaki chicken and beef, 12 piece California roll, rice, soup, and Green Tea Ice cream. Overall the sushi chefs were friendly, food was fast and tasty, and the grumpy waitress must just hate her family at this family owned, Japanese restaurant.

I was told by many this was a good place...having eaten there now twice, I have to totally disagree. Now keep in mind, I eat sushi 4 times/week and have been to Japan many times for work and I do know my sushi. My issues....service each time has been horridly slow...a guy can die of thirst in there...secondly, when getting a temaki roll, very small and not much fish, too much rice....lastly, the Uni not fresh and when ordered with a quail egg, the broken and leaked all over the plate, the owner didnt care...very poor! There are so many sushi places in the area, I would choose over this place...sad too, as its so close to my home. Try Yuki near Winchester instead. Abel there is a nice guy but they dont know their sushi.

Ive been going to Sushi Zono for about 15 years...maybe a bit longer. Excellent sushi, also excellent non-sushi delights. Ive eaten sushi all over the world including lots of places in Japan, and nothing is any better than here. One of my very good friends moved to Walnut Creek a couple years ago and she and her husband still make the trek down to SJ to eat at Zono. Dont miss trying the Vegas Roll - its delicious.

A friend took me here for dinner and we both loved it. Ok, the ambiance isnt memorable, but the food sure was. Great selection of sushi, some very creative rolls, and the non-sushi items were also excellent. We both ate way too much, but will be back again soon. Clearly one of the best sushi places around.

This is where I get real sushi from a small family-owned spot Im willing to travel far for. Dont walk in with crazy expectations for off-the-wall fusion dishes. Go in for the freshest fish and chop it up with the friendly staff.

Love their super creative offerings on their sushi boats. Love the location, too. The staff is very friendly and all of their fish tastes super fresh.
