This restaurant is the latest to open on the Pioneer strip. The menu is simple, composed of South Indian breakfast items including dosa, uthappam, pongal, idly, vada. There are over a dozen variations of dosa and uthappam, with different batter, fillings, toppings, spices, and method of presentation (either folded into a triangle or a tube shape). Each permutation has its own name. I asked the owner for a dosa recommendation and he offered to prepare a "Andhra Kara Masala Dosai" for me, which is not officially on the menu. This dosa, wrapped into the shape of an equilateral triangle, was filled with lightly spiced potatoes that had creamy melted consistency. Unlike the ordinary "masala dosa" that most people have seen at buffets, the interior of my dosa was spread with with roasted Andhra-style masala powder which is supposed to be one of the hottest types in town. It contained a lot of heat that was barely manageable for me, one notch higher and I would need a lassi. The dosa itself was as thick as a mousepad but at the same time crispy, which is not an easy combination to find. It had the balanced texture that I like, Ive encountered many mediocre dosas elsewhere which were too thin and brittle, or thick and too chewy. 3 standard chutneys accompanied the dosa: tomato, coconut, and coriander flavor. These chutneys enhanced the taste of the dosa and also alleviated some of the heat, especially the tomato chutney. In addition, a small portion of sambar was provided. It was filled with chopped vegetables which made the lentil stew naturally sweet. Unlike the sambar at Chennai Tiffins, the one at Chennai Dosa House relies less on chili peppers and spices for flavor.

Really Amazing Dosa, I cannot stress this enough. I have done a cross country from DC to SF and ate at many different Indian restaurants but this one is in my top three when it comes to South Indian Cuisine. I had the Mysore Masala Dosa and Paneer Uttapam along with Mendu Vada. I believe the guy that was at the counter was the owner and he was really sweet to all of his customers. I give them 5 starts because they were fast, courteous, clean and the food tasted exceptional. I would recommend anyone visiting LA to have a bite here!

There is a variety of dosa options and other south Indian non veg and vegetarian options available in this place. The owner and staff both are very polite and create a charming environment. This made us revisit this place 4 more times. The food was tasty. However in multiple visits, I felt that on couple of occasions the quality was slightly low. The consistency of the quality must be improved and I am a great fan of the ambience and the place is small.

I am from Andra and I ate Andra Karam dosas in the most authentic restaurants...so I orderd the same andra karam dosa..and trust me any sane person cannot survive that level of spice ..I had to have lassi to smooth my taste buds frm the spice..when I asked the owner about the same..he dint care to respond and handed me the bill..!!! How rude is that!!!!

Located on a busy street this place offers authentic South Indian food, the customer service is great and the food is great , but the serving staff must pay attention to minor details such as greeting customers as they enter. The decor is okay but not welcoming. The buffet table must be open and vibrant to attract customers.

Worst place to eat, not recommended if you are looking for typical South Indian food. We ordered for Chicken Briyani that was worst food we ever had. These people named their restaurant as Chennai just to attract people from South India. This restaurant deserves 0 Star unfortunately that is not the option was given.

Food was great, I saw the reviews and went there, the place was not stuffy and actually looked clean. But spoon I got had sambar stains on the back side. The food was perfect and I would not want to miss such good food but I would have to when I wonder how often and how thoroughly the dishes are cleaned.

We enjoyed the dosa and chutneys. I saw most of the people enjoying dosa and iddly. I would have given 4 stars but 3 because the interior was stuffy and made the place look dirty.

If you are craving for dosas, you got a choice. But not all dosas are different here. Whatever you order, you get the same dosa with different toppings.

Loved the Chennai special rava dosa. Family enjoyed the crispy wadaa and idlees along with fresh chutneys. Definitely going back again.

This place is awful. The food was rotten. The Dahi Vadai was absolutely putrid. I would not recommend this place to anyone

The best Punjabi food you can ever eat. I and my friends tried their parathas which had that authentic punjabi flavor.
