Burgers are delicious but messy AF and very pricey. Staff seems half-assed but nice. Soda fountain is not your usual crap...cane colas and whatnot. Update : third try, and still havent gotten an order correct. The food is great, keep that in mind. BUT I paid nearly sixty dollars for The Boss Burger (double meat double cheese, medium well, knowing the default "medium" is pink and bloody), a double (no cheese, no sauce, add kraut, also medium well), two large seasoned fries, a chocolate shake, and a beer while I waited. For that kind of money Id expect perfection, but instead I had to wait ages for the beer (not a biggie, poor dude at the counter was busy with a line, had to make shakes, and couldnt pour because he was under age - fair enough) the Boss Burger had no sauce, the other one HAD sauce but no kraut, neither were cooked to temp, and the fries were cold and stale (I watched the dude fill them, realize there wasnt enough, and then collect all the stray fries from around the counter...GTFO). Id gladly wait the time to make a fresh batch of fries because they are good when done right, instead of eating cold droppings. This was just the last order...my previous two had all kinds of wrong as well. Sorry Boss, wont be back until things improve or the prices meet the quality.

Half a year ago I walked passed this place vowing I will return again. I was pretty impressed with such a simplistic decor and menu. I ordered a cheeseburger combo ($12) which came with a burger, fries, and drink. Being it NorCal and all I spotted their soda fountain. . . OMG it was cane soda!! Mind you it as local-cane soda, which I respect. They cook their burgers medium rare, I asked for it to be cooked medium and it comes with their own signature sauce. There wasnt a long wait till I received my order. Have to say it was a hot day and that coke-cane soda really hit the spot. The burger was cooked just right even though its smaller than your average burger. The fries were seasoned, over seasoned. It was pretty satisfying meal . . . until I saw the bill. . . umm $13 for a combo?!? Why must you lie to me Boss?!!! Because of that meh bumped it down a star. Pretty pricey for something pretty good, but not good enough to be the boss of all burgers in the East Bay. =P

Good, albeit expensive, burger. If you like a good burger, its hard to go wrong coming here. I could have taken a start off for price, but I didnt. Anyone who gives this place last than 4 stars came on a bad day (or is having a bad day themselves). Updated: After coming here a few times I start to see why there could be some lower starred reviews - they can be inconsistent. And its not the food, the cooks seem top shelf. Its the kids they hire to take your order. If Im paying $10 for a burger, I want someone who cares to take my order. Paying that much and not getting what you want is frustrating. That being said, I called in an order in the afternoon of 8/6/17 and the guy was super courteous and got the order perfect. Hopefully management takes notice if they want to make this the 5-star burger place it could be.

I come here about once a month. Quality burgers & shakes. Small selection of select craft beers. Unfortunately, the Fries are just OK to good; they used to be outstanding. They used to make a big deal about using beef tallow, but the menu no longer mentions it, so I am guessing they dropped using it. Too bad. There is a counter and a few tables. No booths, so large parties are out. Restaurant and restroom have always been clean. Service has been a little amateurish in the past, but has improved recently (check your to-go order before you leave regardless). EDIT: Im changing my review from 4 starts to 5 stars. I find myself taking my family there 3 or 4 times a month. The fries still arent what they used to be (which was AWESOME) but they are still fresh cut.

Quality meat, friendly service. I did ask for a burger patty to be cooked to medium well (they tend leave the meat pink leaning towards medium rare...) and Im not sure the request was relayed. Its nice they have a salad option. The sodas are fancy and delicious. The chicken tenders were not a hit with my toddler, perhaps a little dry. I would like avocado to be a topping option, since they have an assortment of other options. I love their environmental efforts instead of everything being tossed straight into the dump.

I keep going back because I love the buns and the spicy boss sauce. The fries are pretty good, too. Every cheeseburger I ever order there is rare, even when I ask for it to be cooked more upon ordering. I always take it home and cook it til the pink is gone because raw burgers gross me out. But that sauce is so good! I almost just ordered again until I got honest with myself about how I do not feel like cooking tonight.

The best thing here is the hot sauce. This is what happens when you take a pretty good burger... a burger about which nobody would likely complain, and then you raise the price so freakin high that you walk out and your two best buds and you all look at each other and say in unison... lets go to In-n-Out. Im sorry... its okay, but just not worth the money.

Love this place. Not only do the owners frequent this place and make you feel like one of the family, but the burgers are from local, grass fed beef from Five Dot Ranch. Really affordable, excellent quality of food, and i dont write reviews unless its really good or really bad. Guess what?... Friggin a-ma-... wait for it... ZING!

Minority report here. Visited once for lunch, wont be back. Haphazard, unprofessional counter service and a not-very-appealing burger. Highly touted fries were kind of meh, and the whole deal just didnt work for me. Obviously Ive got a different take from most customers of this place, but Ill get my burger fix elsewhere.

I got their chili fries & they were pretty good. gonna try a burger next time i go. OH plus they have olschool sit down video game classics Pacman, Donkey Kong to name a couple, play for free. And soda flavors that you cant normally get from a restaurant. Great location, busy street but worth it for the amenities alone.

One of the best burgers in the Bay Area, and of course because the meat is high quality its not gonna be McDonalds prices. And the gluten free buns are done right! Make sure you go with 20 bucks if you want all the things. Highly recommended.

Burgers are good but they always get my toppings wrong. Asked for cheese and ketchup only for my kid and I got a burger with everything including onions. I was already home in Richmond when he started to eat so I didnt go back. Waste.

Its a service issue. Great product but the service on Monday April. 24, 2017 at 7 pm was absolutely poor. I had to send my childs order back twice. The three employees thought it was pretty funny though. Disapointed after spending $30.

Good quality ingredients. Bun isnt sugary and holds up. Meat cooked how you ask. Good flavor. Seasoned fries are great, a little spicy kick to them. Lots of families eat here. Cherry soda was great, all soda made locally (Alameda).
