Hector and Kim are the main cooks. Hector is a gentle giant and far from surly. Kim is the owner. The breakfast specialty here is thick cut amazing bacon. They close at 2:00 p.m. but breakfast is served throughout. (note: they open an hour later on Sunday.) I enjoy the blueberry pancake which is dinner plate sized, thick and fluffy. I get full on one, but they also have short stack and full stack! Their blueberry pancake leans to the savory side, which I have come to appreciate. The coffee is Folgers, but it is hot and fresh. They also have my favorite kind of flavored creamer which I dampen with regular creamer. No sugar needed. For lunch, the egg salad sandwich is yummy although I do not care for the brand of macaroni salad that is one of the several side dish choices. Their bread comes from a supplier in Oakland and is thick and tasty. The Cobb Salad is delicious but they do not provide a typical Cobb dressing and you have to pick from their assortment of bottled ones. Access to and within the puny bathroom is a train wreck, but when you gotta go, you gotta go, and you will be grateful that they allow you to use it, although it is not handicapped accessible at all. Parking is tight, but if you standby, one will open up. The restaurant to the east is not supposed to allow their customers to park out front of the Café, so do not hesitate to give them the boot. The Alamo Café is a great value, and is staffed by good people. The table by the latch side of the front door is the least desirable of the four tables for four. PS: they do have bowls of ice cream, but no shake machine. All food is cooked on one medium-sized flatiron grill.

Huge mistake...I love homey small town diners but this place isnt that great...if you need to come here then avoid sitting at the table by the door, the cold hurricane force winds that come through the constantly opening and closing door will leave you with cold food, napkins flying off your table and people bumping into you as they come and go. Food is typical, nothing to rave about. The bathroom is way to difficult and inconvenient to get to, the angry cook has to move in order for you to get to it and hes not happy about it at all. Our group of 4 people arrived at 10am on Sunday with only a party of 2 people in front of us, great right? Wrong, seated at 10am and completed at 11:45am...almost 2 hours for eggs and bacon...and 8 cups of coffee while we waited. No thanks

Wow! Dont listen to the whiners & haters in the other reviews. This place is phenomenal - if you like a cozy little place with excellent, homey cooking. If your looking for a big style restaurant experience, then do skip this very small place. Best items are blueberry pancakes and bacon that is far better than the many top breakfast spots I frequent throughout the Bay Area. Corned Beef IS very good and authentic - its just thinly sliced rather than chunky, which is very different. Eggs Benedict is great. We always get brunch so we have dont know the lunch menu all that well. We come mid-morning so rarely have much of a wait. This place is old school, great breakfast dining so if thats your jam, check it out. Dont knock it for being something that its not...

Been here twice since moving to the area, and disappointed each time - they seem to cheap out on stuff that should be easy to do well. Yesterday, the fresh fruit that I paid extra for was banana slices on top of canned blueberries. In CA, in June, thats pretty terrible. Time before that, my order of corned beef hash used sliced deli meat corned beef, with big chunks of potato and peppers. Definitely not corned beef hash, and not very good. Worst of all, the coffee was bad, which hurts when theres a Peets, Starbucks across the street and neighborhood coffee shop right next door. If you go, stick with the overpriced eggs and bacon breakfast, and get coffee next door.

Sogi $7.00 for tosted tuna on sour to go. Only be sure to check your order before you leave... I ended up with a runny untosted mess 10min later at job site.
