First, before I start, I am not usually a complainer and do not write many reviews. We are locals near the Gulf Shores location so regularly frequent the restaurant. Usually, the food is consistently good so we visit approx 1-2 times a month. However, when we went for lunch today, both of our entrees were terrible. I got a broiled seafood platter and he got the blackened grouper as we are both on diets. The fish on his was paper thin and tasted old or like it had been frozen for a long time. Also, all of the items (shrimp, oysters, fish, and crab claws) on my platter were EXTREMELY small and completely tasteless and should have been considered a childs menu item. The only item we enjoyed was the salad bar which we basically made our meal. I told my husband not to make an issue of it as everyone around us would have heard and I did not want to go through that and just wanted to get through the meal and leave. When I arrived, I told the waiter I had a coupon for BOGO and asked if he wanted it then and he said no, I will take it at the end. I felt like, as bad as the food was, at least we were getting a discount. However, when we settled the bill, the waiter came back and said that I couldnt use it as it was only good from Mon-Thur (we went on Sat). I did not realized that but felt like they should have honored it as I tried to give it to him in the beginning and if he had told me then that it wasnt applicable, I would have ordered differently and shared a plate with my husband to try and save money. Needless to say, we spent $34 for lunch on inedible food that they should have paid me to eat it. It will be a long time before I visit this restaurant again if ever!

I heard one of the local radio stations announce the Original Oyster House was having free lunch for Military Personnel today September the 11th, a day our nation changed forever. I investigated the information further only to find out it was not for military but for First Responders. Specifically stating Paramedics, Fire Fighters, and Sheriffs Department. I verified this with a phone call to the restaurant. This is a slap in the face to local people in the military. Dont get me wrong, first responders are very important, but to leave out your local Military... These brave men and women are fighting for you right now and have been since 9/11. I have personally know military personnel who have fought for this cause and died. For you to promote your business on this day and not include Military is very upsetting to me. I know I will never eat at your establishment again and I hope other military personnel in the area do the same.

Been awhile since wed ate the Oyster House, and weve always love it in the past. To say that todays service and food were both lackluster is being nice. It has apparently gone a bit downhill... Sad. I ordered the Soft Shell Crab platter (3 crabs), they were small, barely half the size of the ones normally served there, or at the Boiling Pot restaurant. Barely made for two normal crabs, very disappointing... Good thing they were tasty, And I only received one of my sides, had to ask for the other. No butter served with crabs, had to ask, was brought cold pats of butter for rolls/bread, no rolls/bread at our table... Had to ask again, for melted butter. Cmon, use your head, crabs/lobster get served with drawn butter. My wifes Grilled Shrimp were small and cold, but her Crab Cakes were huge and hot. Half-assed. Meh.

So excited to try but was very disappointed when the fishermans pride was all fried seafood in small portions. No indication of the frying of everything, when the soft shell crab also came fried I Asked to have it a different way because I had no idea it came fried and when I received it the crab was mush on the inside and very visually hard to look at. Sadly the entrees were very disappointing for the price but the oysters were very good. I guess it depends on what you get, but we were out of town and didnt know. The end bill was still very pricey, I didnt end up eating an entree at all and didnt touch my second glass of wine and in the end the bill was still very vey exspensive for the lack of quality, just passing through but will not be back.

Well...not to be an oyster snob, but I got a dozen "Fire Grilled" oysters which involves Parmesan cheese and garlic butter and I have to say they were the foulest dozen oysters I have ever eaten...burnt, gritty and rubbery...granted I do live on the atlantic side and have been eatin oysters raw, steamed and roasted for 45 plus years...and have always thought gulf coast oysters are not as flavorfull...steer clear of the "famous" fire grilled and stick to raw and youll probably be alright....the main course was mediocre...I managed to choke down half of it trying to get the taste of the fire grilled off my palate....

We were at the Original Oyster House on Battleship Pkwy. on August 30th 2014. I want to personally thank Tobie Rogers for helping me to reserved a table by the window so my Momma could look out over the water as we celebrated her 78th Birthday. It was a bonus that we also were close enough to one of the tvs to watch Alabamas first game of the season. We thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, being able to take lots of pictures with her outside and the food was wonderful. Thanks again for helping to make this a day filled with many special memories. --Cyndi Savage --Debbie Burge --Donna Marks

My wife and I went to dinner here it was fantastic! We had a mishap with our debit card, it acts up at times. The manager was polite and very helpful to fix the problem. Our server was phenomenal, when the card acted up, she was also very polite. It ended up working the third time we swiped it. The manager politely came over and shook my hand, told us thank you for coming. The waitress we ended up leaving a fat tip for. I was so appreciative that in a stressful moment the staff was so polite and helpful. Will eat here many times more.

Super nice service. Loved the managers and our server Paige. We loved ALL the food. VERY good portions. We had the best mozzarella "sticks" EVER and meat pies for starters. The shrimp florentine was so deliciously filled and the side coleslaw was the best we have ever tried. The shrimp alfredo pasta was cheesy and creamy and it got better the deeper you went into your plate. The kids chicken tenders were criapie but sofly baked on the inside. All in all best restaurant Ive tried in Mobile. Oh and by the way it is reasonably priced.

my wife and I ate there last night and got terrible service and mediocre food. first we ordered drinks and that showed up 15 minutes later watered down. then we ordered an appetizer and food at the same time and the server forgot the appetizer alltogether. do you know why? because he was too busy watching the football game. the food was ok at best, small portions for the price. luckily the manager comped our meal and are willing to try it again just not on game night. oh and dont get the gumbo. very bland and not a lot of flavor.
