Verde Cocina is basically the best thing ever. I discovered it about a year ago in the PSU Farmers Market - I was drawn in by the giant grill cooking mass amounts of delicious looking vegetables and chicken. The savory smells drew me in and the adorable 10 (?) year old taking orders at what I assume was his family restaurant was just too cute to pass up. Three words: Tys Big Breakfast. Its pretty much my favorite brunch in Portland and if you eat it all you will BE FULL FOREVER. Veggies and veggies and more veggies and eggs and giant bacon bites will fill your mouth with juicey goodness until you pass out in a food coma and wake up to discover you still need to eat the fresh, homemade corn tortillas at the bottom. Yum. Ive been back here a few times now and had breakfast tacos and also enchiladas at their Pearl location. The food is always farm fresh, full of flavor, and the service is always wonderful. I love this place and I hope theyre around for a very long time!

In Portland from out of town, at lunchtime we googled "best Mexican restaurants" and found this place. Our party was excited since we have vegetarians, a vegan, and meat eaters to please. Sadly our experience did not live up to expectations. Service was mediocre. Only one of our group of seven found their meal enjoyable. Seasoning was non existent--the mole was bland yet very spicy--just heat with no depth of flavor. I will say the guacamole was very good, as were the white beans served on the side. Very overpriced. Another annoyance--an automatic 19% gratuity was added to our bill. Service and food did not merit that level of tip. No interest in ever eating here again.

The food here was terrible - none of the flavors melded well at all. I ordered the Verde Bowl with chorizo. Not good. On top of that, our water never got refilled and we discussed with the server to bring out shredded beef tacos for our son, but we ended up with chorizo for him, too, and had to return it and wait for the correct order. The service was so bad, we were only going to tip our minimum 15%. But then we get the check, and they automatically include the tip of 19%. No wonder the waiter didnt even try! Will not be returning here.

The menu is on the small side, but features options for vegetarian and Paleo diets. The food features hand-made tortillas and generous helpings of farm-fresh veggies, and is prepared with commendable skill. The bar offers an assortment of craft cocktails (it is in the Pearl, so this almost goes without saying,) plus a generous selection of fine tequila. Seating can be scarce at peak hours, but often you can walk in an find a table. Service is good, and the ambiance is warm and cozy, with colorful lighting and fun furniture.

My wife and mother-in-law had very good meals but personally, mine was very bland. I had the huevos rancheros. My mom was born and raised in Mexico. Huevos rancheros should come with runny yolks. My eggs were completely cooked. Maybe thats just the way they do it but that should be specified if so. In any case, there wasnt much going on flavor-wise with the dish. Id go back and try something else, and if I do Ill edit my review accordingly. As it stands, it was very mediocre.

This is my go to place in Portland since everything they offer is gluten free (Im Celiac), and my favorites can be made dairy free. The sangria is tasty, the atmosphere is cute, and the tortillas and guac are enough to eat as one meal! My only recommendation is to try to get a booth. Their chairs by the garage door arent the most comfortable for long conversations!

service was lacking, slow and not detailed. roasted chicken with adobo was not roasted at all, more like stewed chicken...disappointment. menu states "crispy perfection" on the chix, far from it. server stated "maybe thats how they used to make it"...hmmm? corn tortillas were good, but no chips with quac and salsa. why? wanted to love it. :(

Super fresh and delicious up-scale Mexican food. We went here for dinner and loved it! I can be really picky at times, and they accommodated all my needs perfectly with a smile. Warm and cozy casual atmosphere. Great staff! The carne asada was beautiful and brilliant, just perfect! My friend ordered the Gringas con Molé, so much flavor!

Delicious fresh Mexican style food with mountains of veggies! I ate Verde Bowl which came with a choice of quinoa or rice, choice of meat or tofu, tortillas, salsa and veggies. Really good stuff. Its all gluten free with vegan and vegetarian options abound. Try the freshly made hot sauces :-)

Ive been to this location three times now, and Ive never had anything less than good. Everything has had a unique and fresh taste to it. My only qualm is this place seems to be a frequent lunchtime meeting spot for suits who work in the Pearl, and those tables are often annoyingly loud.

We love this place. "Bacon" (pork loveliness that melts in your mouth), salmon bowl (chef does skin up crispy which is yummmmm), chorizo anything and kids meals that are both healthy and edible by worst critics ever (my monkeys). Our clan highly recommends.

Its a great place for breakfast. The food is fantastic, and is a must visit if you have GF visitors. The staff have never been anything but amazingly friendly, curtious and quick. If you havent gone there, give it a try. You will not be disappointed.

Good food and huge portions, this is one of the best brunch spots that Ive tried in Portland. Its a little pricey for me, but for what you get its probably valued correctly. Will definitely be back and will recommend to visiting friends.

I just ate here once, but the food was excellent. The service isnt high end, but its acceptable. The drinks were good, not super strong, but not weak, either. They seem to always have some fun specials going on, both food and drink.

Phenomenal food that tastes good and you can feel good about eating! Maybe my new fave in Portland. I wish it were closer to my house! P.S. MAKE SURE you get the bacon (pork belly) on something! Holy cow.

Love this spot, get ready for delicious veggies on everything from your huevos rancheros to your quesadillas. Guacamole is served with warm tortillas and there are gluten free options galore.

Gluten free with fantastic vegetarian options. Delicious. Also, any place with a playlist with sylvan esso on it has to be a hip spot to grab a bite. Would recommend to anyone and everyone.

Delicious fresh ingredients and nice selection of tequila. The Chicherrones are HOT, and yummy. Also had the cheese quesadillas. The La Paloma is a refreshing drink, definitely worth a try.

Food is decent, but dont rush over at 8:50 pm...despite their advertisement of the kitchen closing at 9pm...they really shut down at 8:50
