We had a heinous service experience, it was deplorable for the amount of money we spent on the tasting menu. We were attempting to celebrate a birthday with another couple, and sadly the service ruined our entire perception of DOC. This was not our first experience here, nor the second, we have held company team dinners here, no longer. Our most recent experience will be out last. We called the manager to offer our feedback, asking nothing in return, the manager admitted it was a sad display. We simply do not appreciate the smug belittling behavior that was exuded from the service. Our questions went unanswered, the server was extremely childish and immature, we did not expect this childish behavior from DOC. The server was unapologetic after I called her out. She spoke down to us, and was an example of someone that is only in it for themselves. She made no attempt at making the experience positive for us. Truly a disappointment and a waste of hard earned money. There are to many good restaurants around, do not subject yourself to bad service.

Quite simply one of the best meals Ive ever enjoyed. The "5 course" tasting menu seems to be prepared by angels, with each course being comprised of three dishes; its almost like tasting everything on the menu. Where other tasting menu experiences can feel rushed or too slow, the pace here was fantastic; we never had to ask to keep a dish that we were still nibbling on, nor did we have to make room for new dishes - it was perfect. Something must also be said for the setting. When you step into the restaurant you are literally walking through the kitchen into a very intimate dining room, from which you will be able to watch beautiful things being prepared for your enjoyment, all evening long. It has got to be one of the most romantic spots in the city, hands down. This one will be going on my "best ever" list.

DOC has become my go-to place whenever I have out of town guests, as well as one of my all time Portland favorites to share with family and friends. The six course Chefs Choice Taster Menu is always a unique and rewarding experience for even the most picky foodie. Every course features delectable selections created from the freshest local produce, seafood and meat - and you can watch as each course is expertly prepared within easy view. DOC is a lovely, intimate restaurant and for each "seating" you need to allow just about two hours. Two hours to savor every single bite.

My boyfriend and I stopped here by chance last weekend. I wasnt crazy about the menu but we decided to split the 5 course meal. The food turned out to be amazing! Service was great and very knowledgable staff. The only dish we didnt care for was the poached tuna. Seemed a bit fishy with the pickled tuna and lacked a little flavor. The 5 course pairing was way too big for 1 person so we were happy we shared. We also did the wine pairing which was wonderful. I would highly recommend.

My husband recently took me to DOC to celebrate a wedding anniversary. It was delightful. This is a unique dining experience as diners must walk through the "kitchen" in order to get to their table. Upon seating, we reviewed the "Chefs Choice" menu (all the choices were amazing!) and ordered the wine pairings to optimize our dining enjoyment. We werent disappointed. The place is small and the pace is relaxed. We left happy with full stomachs and look forward to a future visit.

Best birthday dinner! The ambience was lovely - low key and relaxed. Our server asked us if we had any food allergies, if we wanted anything to drink and then took care of everything else. The menu was pre-fixed and everything was perfect. My favorites were the grilled tuna and Jordans family recipe for Sunshine cake. Cant wait to go back. Its great for date night or small groups and I love that its on Open Table so it was easy to make a reservation.

Small and intimate. While the music was just a tad loud it is a great place to have dinner with someone special. Thankfully the menu is small and all choices looked amazing. The carrot salad is not to be missed and the duck was divine. Also, a great spot if you have (Oregon) Pinot Noir fatigue. We we were directed to a new varietal that was indeed interesting (in a very good way) that paired perfectly with our entrees.

The food was great, the wines too. Just a negative comment about how the wines were served. We were 2 couples doing tasting menu and wine pairing together. Each wine have been poured in only one glass. So if everybody wanted to try wine #1 for example, we had to share that same glass. Ive never seen anything like this in the whole world. Is it a way to save money on wines, I dont know. Inappropriate guys!

One of my favorite spots in PDX. Had wild nettle & oregon truffle lasagna, farm egg dish. Was such a big fan of the fresh eggs, I asked where they sourced them, and instead of divulging their secret they sent me home with six eggs, which I turned into a Mothers day brunch of eggs benedict. Big hit with Mom...DOC, even bigger hit with me! See you again soon...Thanks

Not only is the food fantastic, but the wine pairings are so well thought out. And, upon entering the restaurant, you are greeted by the chef & staff as you walk through the kitchen creates such a welcoming experience!

Top notch. One of my top 3 favorites in town. Pricey but worth every penny. Special occasion sort of place, fixed price menu and they definitely accommodate dietary restrictions. Wine pairing. Then call a cab home.

Whoa. The five course dinner was out of this world! The staff was so friendly. The food, though not cheep, was totally worth the price. Made for a very romantic five year anniversary.

Excellent Italian--be sure and try the vegetables! Dined at Nonna Tavern, the more informal bar of DOC.
