It seems like there are quite a few bad reviews that indicate that customers are getting ignored and various "padding" reviews giving 4+ stars. I would like to give this an establishment 0 stars, but 1 is the limit. We were told that there was a 30 minute wait due to a large number of patrons that evening. We had no issue with this and were seated within about 25 minutes. Unfortunately, after we had ordered, we waited nearly an hour and a half for service. Our drinks were emptied and our appetizers never arrived. Our server ignored us until we flagged him over, to which he seemed confused that we were calling him over. He never once came to check on us and none of our orders ever came. When we finally spoke to the closest server, we asked for the check for the two fountain drinks we received. She came back and told us our food would be out in just a minute. By this time, a family who had been seated 20 minutes after us, served, and fed, had already paid and left. We were completely forgotten and ignored. Roughly 10 minutes longer and our food still hadnt come. Whatever the reason didnt matter at this point, as we needed to be out of there by 4 since we needed to be back at Ann Arbor by 6:30 to catch our bus home. The manager also tried to prevent is from leaving, but the food never arrived even after we had spent another 20 minutes speaking with him. Our suspicion is that they never made our food and didnt want us to leave because we were a hundred dollar table. The manager ultimately blamed the previous shift for the mix up, as opposed to talking responsibility for his staff. A real shame, because I wont ever be able to recommend this place to anyone that may be visiting and interested in trying these great burgers.

AMAZINGLY POOR CUSTOMER TREATMENT, POOR CUSTOMER POLICIES. My wife and I dined at the Basement Burger Bar on April 5, 2014. We had a promotion coupon with us, purchased for $19, through Travel Zoo, a Groupon competitor. The promotion was for dinner and drinks for two, up to $40, good for up to six months. After this six month period the promotion was good only for $19, the purchase price. The $19 value had no expiration date. When we presented the promotion, Vicky, the manager said she couldnt honor it; she claimed she had never seen it before and had no way of verifying its validity. When asked if she was the person making that decision, she said, no, the owner was. When we asked the owners name, she replied that she didnt know. After expressing our disbelief that she worked for the owner, and she discussed this promotion with the owner, yet didnt know his name, she said his name was Jimul Azar. Despite extensive discussions, she refused to honor the promotion, and she refused to offer any compensation - even partial, I find it unacceptable that a restaurant would advertise on Travel Zoo then refuse to honor the coupon. We will no longer patronize this establishment. I urge anyone considering going here to proceed with caution.

Its too bad I have to leave a negative review because the food is pretty good, but this the 3rd time they messed up my order or forgot to add a salad or sauce or given me the wrong order and it just makes no sense. The biggest problem I see is the staff is unprofessional and there is a lack of communication between them at the bar. I have only experienced carryout and have never sat down and ate there but I dont want to either because whenever Im there its just too crowded and I dont feel comfortable. I just want to get my food and go, but then the order is jacked up missing items or just wrong. Now I just left there 10 mins ago and after waiting about 10 mins for them to notice me and take my credit card the woman sits the bill and my food next to me and still didnt take my card. So Im waiting again. The man sitting next to me eating finally slide my card and bill in the womans face like HELLO..Are you going to take this Guys money or what? That was kind of humorous. And then after all that they still forgot part of my order or more rather the rest of my order was there but since there was "piss poor communication" they forgot to put it in the bag. Sorry guys Im not going back there too much damn fuss over take out.

My husband and I went there for lunch using our groupon that we bought a few weeks back. We went after the lunch time rush but it appears that didnt matter as even though there were 2 servers, 1 bartender and 1 hostess we had to wait for a table to be cleaned off and our server seemed less than enthusiastic about being there. We had to tell her that we were ready to order. We were also a little disappointed when we ordered our drinks and were told that the keg had run out. When we said we didnt mind waiting for them to change it we were told that "oh they might not put the same thing on that tap" which we found odd as what we wanted was listed on their blackboard as a "special". The food was a bit of a disappointment...as the burger I ordered was overcooked, had a funny taste to it and turned the bun into a big grease sponge. I also dont think well be going back as the server made a face when we handed her the groupon coupon...as if she thought she would get jipped out of her tip because we were getting money off...I always thought that groupons were sold to try and get new customers into your business...maybe Im wrong.

Came in on a decently busy lunch hour. Wait to be seated wasnt bad; 5 mins. Cool space, relaxed environment. BYOBurger/Salad menu is cool and offers an abundance of choices. However, the wait staff seemed completely overwhelmed; our waitress was polite and very nice, but untimely in getting things. Which brings me to the eternal wait for the food. 45+ minutes for 3 burgers. Do not go to this place for a quick lunch, especially if you have someplace to be. When the food finally came, it was clear that they use high quality and very fresh ingredients. Everything was well prepared and cooked, the portions were satisfying, and overall the meal was quite good. A few nitpicky food complaints; I payed a dollar for one piece of bacon, although it was good bacon. Also, the ranch was watery and seemed like a store bought mix rather than a truly homemade dressing. In summary: food so fresh and wait so long, I think they grew and raised the meal in the back; which is totally fine if youve got no place to be. 10-20 tip scale= 17%

We visited Burger Basement Bar this afternoon for lunch for the first time and were very pleased with the quality of food and service. The owner greeted us with menus instead of letting us just sit without. I instantly felt warmly welcomed. Our server was attentive and had a great attitude. The food is fresh, unique, and above all--DELICIOUS! (We highly recommend the frickles, too.) Most places in the metro-Detroit area are slacking in these areas (cough: COWLEYS--what terrible service lately!), but the Burger Basement Bar is already making a name for itself by making a great first impression. We will definitely be back (brews to be featured next week!) and plan on taking all of our friends here for a burger and a beer. Prices may be considered high for those who dont care about quality, but if you want a $5 cheeseburger, go to Mickey Ds. GO TO BASEMENT BURGER BAR! You wont be disappointed.
