The place looked empty for the beginning of Saturday night dinner hour at 5:00. We were politely and promptly seated. Our table was so sticky that the beer menu had to be peeled off. We could hear a team leader giving the servers their rah-rah pre-dinner-rush pep talk. It reminded me of the movie “Office Space” where they’re coached about the number of pieces of Flair they’re wearing. Gimme a break. Our server was OK though, and took our order promptly. I wanted a beer that I saw on their website, but alas, was not available. I heard a patron at a nearby table discussing the exact same dilemma with his server. We ordered a soda and a different beer, which arrived quickly. The beer was pretty good. We ordered O-rings, a Medium-Well burger, and the Cajun Fish tacos. The food arrived quickly, but here’s where the experience really failed. The burger was cold and pink in the middle, and barely warm. The fries were good, and the O-rings were OK, but the ketchup bottle on our table was practically empty. The fish in the tacos was supposed to be blackened, but was some sort of breaded, fried (and cold) McNuggets instead. The tacos, black beans, and rice were all cool to room temperature, on a cool plate. I wondered if they forgot to run it through the broiler. Despite not eating much of the disappointing food, our server applied the expected high-pressure dessert speech. No thanks, we were just ready to go. We were basically dining for free, using some gift cards that we had received. We left our server the remaining balance for a tip (25%) not because he was that good, but because we’re definitely not going back. Leaving around 6:00, the place still wasn’t very busy – go figure. I think that the manager should focus more on the kitchen and dining room readiness than “Flair”.

Wish I had read the reviews before I came here. When we arrived for lunch, I noted one of their beers listed on a chalk board inside the front door. We were seated. The place looked fairly busy. It was a bit before a waitress made it to our table. When I ordered the beer from the board, the waitress said they didnt have that one. I mentioned I just saw it on the board inside the door. She took a look - yep, they had it. We ordered lunch and beers. It was a spell before we got our drinks. A long spell but they finally came. I ordered the Rock Bottom Cobb Salad with ranch dressing. When the salad arrived, I looked up at the meals my friends ordered and we agreed, the two of us that ordered salads got rooked. While the salad was tasty, it was a $6 salad in size... at best. This salad is $12.79 plus tax on the menu! What I received was pathetic. Lettuce is cheap. Why charge so much for such a small salad? Before I eat, I always use the restroom to wash my hands. My other purpose is to note the cleanliness of the restaurant. The mens room smelled like a truck stop gone bad. The smell of stale urine was .... ugh. Attention management, if you dont have the time to clean the bathrooms then I bet the kitchen is just as filthy. Wont be back and if I do, I will check the restroom before I order food. If it still stinks, I will say something to those in charge.

Complete disappointment! We should have seen the warning sign when we went on a Saturday night and there was no wait to be seated. They ran out of ice and brought me a full cup of warm ice tea, suggested I pour the ice from my old drink into the full cup. After doing as suggested the waitress left the overflow mess on the table for me to clean. The food was no where to be seen well after an hour. Does a cobb salad & fried fish take an hour and 25 mins to prepare? Like the table across from us, we asked for the food to go instead & the check (this issue wasnt just our food most tables were with drinks only). After paying the check I received a to go box with a salad that looked as if someone else had been eating it and they tossed the leftovers into a to go box. Not so appetizing! The waitress said they will refund my card (hopefully they do). I left the food in the box at the table without having even a bite so i cant tell you if the food is good or not. I asked if they were short staffed in the kitchen and was advised there sous chef recently left. My suggestion: be upfront and honest with customers by letting them know the wait maybe longer than usual due to being short staffed- might save them from having angry customers. This was our first and only experience. Needless to say we wont be back.

My husband and I had a great dinner experience at your restaurant Saturday night, March 7, 2015. Our waitress was just wonderful, she was so personal, accommodating, and completely pleasant. I can’t say enough good things about Sandra (I just don’t know her last name - sorry). We will go back soon just because of her, and yes the food was great also. We have so many choices here in the Des Moines/West Des Moines area, that taste alone doesn’t always draw us back, but because Sandra was so sweet and respectful it will definitely be one of our choices again soon. I can’t ever remember sending an email to affirm a waiter/waitress, but she’s an exception, and worthy to be praised. Your restaurant is blessed to have her with you!!! When going to the restaurant I was excited because my husband used to make his own beer and this is like a dream come true to him. From the moment we walked into this place we knew that it was someplace special. The wait staff are very friendly and the manager even came to our table to make sure that everything was up to the Rock Bottom standards. The food was delicious, so much so that we went back and spent my birthday there!!!! This restaurant is magnificent and We will be going back again definitely. Be sure to try there free samples of brew it is really cool to try beer that is made there on the property.

For the first time being in Iowa and dining out alone, there were plenty of places to go, but i figured Id try the local beer and pub food. I thought the food was great!! The bar tender was nice, conversational and pleasant. I had the seafood salad and the Lumpy Dog Brown ale. cannot complain at all. Even bought merchandise, a tshirt and mug and only cost 18.00!! Really nice atmosphere and they had a patio. only negative was that they seemed understaffed for a tuesday night, but they definitely got the job done! Would recommend this place without a doubt :)

Worst experience ever. We arrived around 8:15pm and it wasnt busy at all. But it took 10 mins to get our drink and 30mins to get our meal. Also the only meal I order there was not available, they said it was sold out. at a slow night? When we were ready for paying the bill, there were two drinks charge should not be added. Waited for the waitress came over and only fixed one drink. Had to wait to talk to her again to fix the second drink. Very disappointed and wont go back there anymore.
