What amuses me about the reviews I read on The Old Spaghetti Factory is that so many people seem to think this place is trying to be what it never has been. I came here as a kid, and just recently took my own three kids for the first time--my first visit in at least 20 years. It was exactly how I remembered it. It hasnt changed a bit. Yet, so many guests fail to understand this is not fine dining. It is not a 5-star restaurant experience, nor are they trying to be. TOSF has *always* been about serving families and kids with a fun experience. Their food is good, Id say a notch below Olive Garden--and we all know the OG is sort of a ho-hum chain restaurant too, right? TOSF is just a step UP from Fazolis. Yes, Fazolis. The food taste and quaility is very similar to Fazolis, in fact, its the atmosphere and waited-on tables under stained glass that makes TOSF a step up. Now, to KIDS, this place is super fancy! And getting to dine on a train car in the middle of the restaurant is the coolest thing to kids. And some adults come here even without kids to enjoy the inexpensive classic Italian fare and dependable quality. Some reviewers fail to see what The Old Spaghetti Factory is and is trying to be and has always been. Thats their problem, not the restaurants. Anyone with some street wise will know that you dont come here with your wife of 10 years for Valentines Day. You take her to Vesta Dipping Grill or Brio--if you must do a chain restaurant. This place is fancy to KIDS and to high schoolers for a pre-Homecoming dinner with corsages on their wrists. To any other adults who come here: you either have kids, or arent really expecting to be wowd, youre expecting a decent affordable meal in a cute atmosphere. If you dont fit into any of those categories and came here expecting an amazing experience apart from seeing a train car in a pretty building...you are no cultured foodie. Just saying. My recent experience was great. I came with my three kids because my husband was out late at a meeting and our dishwasher was broken and I didnt feel like cooking. We were seated immediately in a booth. Our server was a young woman, just right, she came to the table enough but not too much. My kids got applesauce as a sort of appetizer, and a warm bread loaf with garlic butter was brought to the table. The kids had orange Italian cream sodas--such a treat to a kid!--in cute little plastic cups you can take home. They even have triangular crayons that dont roll off the table!! {See? This place SCREAMS low-key FAMILY RESTAURANT.} I ordered a "Factory Punch" and it was so delicious, and I wouldve had a second if I didnt have to drive. My kids ordered the mac & cheese which was fine, and the spaghetti with meat sauce. The meat sauce is actually pretty darn good! Salty and savory, no sweetness there. The sauce that came with my chicken parmigiana, however, was sweet and basic like Prego from a jar. The chicken breast was really pretty good though. The kids meals include free dessert--you must not allow them to get plain ice cream, go with the spumoni! Our waitress even brought me a complementary dish of spumoni! So that was great service right there. No nonsense, we were in and out before the kids got restless. It was great. The bathroom was even clean. So do go there! And enjoy it! Just know that this is no Michelin star restaurant, nor has it ever claimed to be. What The Old Spaghetti Factory aims to be, it does so well!

On Feb 12th at 3pm we had a large group come to the Spaghetti Factory. The pastor of our church made prior reservations as we would have 50 people. This was our annual valentines day tradition with our church. We were assigned two staff members to take care of this large of group. The wait staff was Michele and Darren. The salad that were brought out to us looked very wilted and not overly dressed with the dressing. Michelle and Darren had their Hands full as the tried to take care of us. The spaghetti was cold and not very good. Way below SF standards or what we had come accustomed to. When it came time for the bill the wait staff broke out the bill for the first few people them for frustrated and handed the bill off to our pastor. Michele said she wasnt doing any more figuring and we need to figure it out ourselves. However she didnt credit what had already been paid. The SF Had sent a contract over for the church to sign saying that the bill would be one bill and we would have to figure out what to do. In the past the staff had broken out the bill for our group with no trouble. The chaos this time was that they took payments from some of us but didnt account for it. My complaint is that they either should have left it alone or broke out the bill for all of us. The other complaint is the food. And the final complaint is that we were assigned only two staff members who were rushed and gave way below average service. The other complaint was that the manager who came to answer the complaint said that the issue was our problem and there was nothing that could be done. This was somewhere in the neighborhood of $700 worth of business and we were treated like they could care less. Next year our dinner will be somewhere else. Many in our group said they would not etc ever patronize this place again. I am with them. I have been going here since i was a kid and am highly disappointed with how they do business these days.

When we first arrived at the Old Spaghetti Factory, I was really excited since I hadnt been to one in a very long time. Being a pasta lover I was expecting an awesome meal especially at a restaurant in downtown Denver. The whole family went on this trip, so it was about ten people or so. The building is awesome & the train in the middle of everything is really neat! However, the minute we were seated our experience went down hill. First of all, we got seated in the very back of the building. It was quiet but it was also basically abandoned! Not only did it take our waitress about thirty minutes to even come over & introduce herself but it also took about that long to get waters & other beverages ordered. I was expecting a lot more from the menu as far as pasta but was disappointed there as well. We finally got to place our order with the waitress who was to busy for our table apparently. She never checked on us besides bringing the first initial drink orders & bringing the salads & main courses. One person in our party had to wait the entire meal to even get his coffee refilled, which only happened once. The food was mediocre at best & the waitress obviously didnt care about our experience or her service. Overall, it was a horrible experience! It was a group of ten or more so there is an automatic gratuity of 20% added to the bill which was not deserved at all. My suggestion is to skip the Old Spaghetti Factory! Awesome building but horrible service and food!
