Don is a grumpy old man that cooks crap processed foods , canned chili and hot dogs, overpriced beers... etc.. .I went there and took my 3 kids and my puppy a couple times, cause the kids wanted to try it out... Don was sorta rude and short with me and my kids, he came off as the type that doesnt like kids or other peoples dogs. He has 3 grumpy old dogs like himself that are always there, so dont think its a dog friendly place because he doesnt like other peoples dogs and he talks down to you , the manner in which he speaks to people is belittling ... He belittled my 9 yr old son and made him feel bad... I would say that if you are in the Area Do NOT GO there... its a waste of time and the food is very poor quality ...PUT IT THIS WAY....going to this place is like opening up your fridge and all that is left is the hotdogs that your kids dont even want... and some left over canned chili.... thats when you say to yourself "TIME TO GO THE STORE!" ,,,, so why go to Dons Dogs and pay 15 bucks for some 2 dollar crap that you dont even want to make for yourself at home? GO TO A REAL RESTURAUNT... dont waste your time -(ZERO STAR RATING)

Unexpectedly good food from this Monte Rio mainstay. Definitely the best spot to eat at in town. You can even get your meal to go and dine in the theater next door. Be sure to try the reuben, beef stew or one of their salads. Also, youve gotta try some of their homemade ice cream. This stuff rivals the most uppity city slicker ice cream boutique offerings out there. Take a stroll down to the beach or across the bridge after your meal and enjoy the views.

I Love Dons Dogs!!! Don is a very kind person contrary to some reviews. The dog park is nice, my dog loves going there and I have never experienced any problems with the other dogs. I usually hate hot dogs but I cannot get enough of Dons Dogs. The outdoor seating is also really nice and right in the warm sun!! I recommend you go there if you find yourself in Monte Rio.
