Corazon is easily one of my favorite restaurants in Milwaukee. I dont eat meat, so I cant speak to the quality of any of their meat preparation; most of the menu is available vegetarian (some vegan) and is consistently great. My favorite dish is the breakfast burrito with sautéed vegetables and black beans, which is sadly only available on weekends. The standard burrito is also good - I order delivery (by Flavor Cycle - Edit: delivery is no longer offered) for lunch at work every week or so and usually get a lunch burrito with soy chorizo or sautéed veggies, as it travels well - though my favorite dinner item is the enchiladas (I vary between the soy chorizo, herb tofu, and veggies for those). The beer selection is decent (bottles all - a few Mexican beers and assorted craft beers), the wine options are mediocre, and the margaritas (not blended) are tasty but a little pricey. The decor is pleasantly kitschy, consisting of bright colors and lots of Jesus/Sacred Heart and Mary pictures, Dia de los Muertos iconography, and other assorted Mexican-style artworks. There is a television that faces the bar and is visible from a couple of the tables; I think Ive only seen it on for Packers games. The space itself is pretty small - there are a handful of tables inside the main area, another handful in the rear dining room, and about 8 seats at the bar. My experience with the service has always been pretty standard - it can be a little slow if the place is full, but otherwise is good. Food preparation times tend to be very short, even when busy. Overall, I strongly recommend Corazon for meals, especially for vegetarian diners looking for Mexican food. If youre looking for somewhere to hang out with a group and drink pitchers of margaritas, there are better options.

Dont get me wrong, this is a great restaurant - the atmosphere is cozy and the food is spectacular. I have been there many times and will go again. Recently, Corazon took advantage of the popular online coupon buying frenzy and sold coupons offering two entrees and two drinks for $20 on a popular website. They should not do this again until they assure themselves that all their employees value coupon users the same as non-thrift seekers. I used one, and (ate at the bar) was treated like a second-class citizen, as if taking advantage of their discount somehow disqualified me from quality service. She was friendly and kind to customers not using coupons, and the two other parties at the bar using coupons were shown that they were equally unwelcome (rude comments, eye rolling, lack of attention, no apologies for not bringing correct/complete order, etc). So it was clear that she was not just having a bad day or a generally rude person, which I would have preferred. If you dont like the couponing frenzy, then dont participate in it! If you want the financial benefits of it, and the repeat customers (especially since I had been to Corazon about 15 times before) which are the goal of it, then treat people with equal respect instead of like unwelcome cheapskates for accepting the offer that YOU made them. What amounted to about a twelve dollar discount on a forty + dollar food/drink tab wasnt worth putting an ugly wart on one of my favorite brunch, lunch, and dinner restaurants.

Oh where to begin... Lets start with the amazing food they make. The ingredients are sourced straight from the farm. You can taste the freshness in the tomatillo salsa and a well balance guacamole. The fresh meats, the authentic sprinkle of queso fresco on the refried beans and house sauce that ties everything together. I know what youve heard, its a small place and its hard to get a table. Personally, the cozy atmosphere is charming and during the summers one can eat on the patio. Cafe Corazon isnt above selling menu items for take out which gives you yet another option. You still want a table? I dont blame you; while you wait there are a host of wonderful mixed drinks to get you started and if youre bold like me you dont mind eating your meal right there at the bar. Absolute must try if you like Mexican cuisine. Worth the wait/price whatever obstacle you encounter.

After hearing two rave reviews about this place, we couldnt help ourselves. two excellent margaritas on the rocks and a couple Taco Truck Tacos later and we were setting up to have them cater our wedding reception! After our wedding reception we continued to receive countless compliments on the reception with emphasis on the food. It was in a non traditional venue and Cafe Corazon worked with us creatively and with great use of available resources to pull this off with flying colors! Even more, all the food they serve, from the mechada to the beets, to the simple syrup (margaritas) is from the owners family farm, Richway Acres. Simply put, Cafe Corazon is giving Milwaukees highly regarded stock of Mexican restaurants a run for their money! Enjoy!

This is by far one of my most favorite places to eat in the Riverwest area. The food is always fresh and well-prepared, prices are not bad, and the service isnt over-bearing so you can enjoy your meal, but they certainly take time to explain things to you and tend to your needs. Everything on the menu is delicious, but Im quite partial to the Wet Burrito which is ENORMOUS, so be prepared to make room for some tasty leftovers in your fridge! Downsides of this location is the space; it is pretty cramped and I always feel like Im rubbing shoulders with the other customers. I would recommend going before dinner hour if you can to avoid waiting for seating and finding parking. Like the entire neighborhood there is only street parking on narrow roads.

Corazon used to be my go-to Mexican place. I would literally eat there at least once a week. Since they expanded to Bay View I feel like the quality has gone down a bit. To start off with the positive, Ive had no issues with entrees changing. They seem to be just as wonderful as always. The best shrimp tacos ever. I could eat them until I popped. However the black beans dont seem to be the same, in fact the last time I ate there they were so bland I doubt they were even salted. The margaritas also seem to have gone down hill. They used to be the most delicious and the strongest in the city. Now I feel like they are just slightly above any Americanized Mexican food restaurant you can find down the street.

Nice little place for brunch. We were hoping for a nice new place to hang, not expecting huge surprises with the food. We had a little wait before we got seated but it wasnt that long. The atmosphere is eclectic and decidedly hip Mexican with lots of images of the Sagrado de Corazón. The vegan options are plentiful much to the delight of my brunch mate. I had the "Huevos Divorciados" which came with the best refried beans Ive had outside of Mexico. My brunch mate had the Breakfast Burrito with Soy Chorizo, which was great. Both were spicy and well balanced. So we came for the atmosphere and were blown away by the food.

Funky little place with really good tacos. I actually came here as part of my 50 state taco quest to raise money for suicide prevention based on a BuzzFeed article so Im a bit of a taco connisuer. I love that they have vegan & 2 tortilla options. While these are more gourmet hipster than hole in the wall epic street tacos, they are super tasty. Tons of drink options & a "were too cool for main stream" vibe. That being said the clientele was as diverse as their taco options. Love the diversity. Definitely check out their 11-3 Margs special & weekend Mexican brunch. #TacoQuest50
