Traveling Trainee review..... China Wok is a medium size restaurant. Clean for the most part. The staff (1 lady) not real friendly. But she was doing everything in the front. The buffet had about 30 idems. The salad selection was not to be found ( l had lettuce and some sliced winter tomatoes) thats it. I also ate chicken and broccoli, mushrooms, lo mein and I think green beans. The green beans were so over cooked that it look like they were small sticks and soy sauce. I discarded the green beans. I had a bowl of egg drop soup that was okay. If youre close by go ahead and stop in but its not for you to go out of your way for. On my traveling trainer scale from 1 to 10, I give this restaurant a 5 at best. The health rating was a pass as posted today. Be safe!

I had only been here once before but that was two years ago. I went tonight and was very disappointed. They have only 3 small buffet tables. The first had a scarce salad bar then poor quality sushi and some American deserts (jello, pudding). The next buffet table had some soups and chinese appetizers which were okay but not the best. The last buffet table had the main dishes which were all mainly chicken and there was only about 8-9 different dishes. The food was not fresh even when it just came out it was still cold. I have been to a lot of chinese restaurants in the Madison area and was very disappointed in this one. The one in Waunakee is 5x better.

The food was bland and very greasy. The sesame beef and orange beef tasted the same, no spice. The beef tastes greasy and mushy, like it was all breading. The sweet and sour chicken was also greasy and the sauce was way too thin. The egg roll had no flavor at all. Everything tastes like the oil in the fryer needed changes, old. Was so excited to try, but it was a real bust. Pretty much inedible and we are not that picky with take out. Will not order again and would not recommend.

Went here for lunch and got exactly what I expected, except the food was of slightly higher quality than some of the other buffet places in Madison. Service was good, as was the food, which all seemed relatively fresh, but the reason this is a 4/5 is the interior; it was the experience of eating dinner on a sterile kitchen floor because the floor was that kind of white tile. Flooring aside, Ill go here again.

Just Dont... Food is nothing special. Selection is just okay. The one woman running the front is nice, but the owner is rude and just plain doesnt care. Had been several times because we live in Middleton, but quickly made the decision to NEVER return when a cockroach crawled up the salt shaker on my table to admire the view. Waunakee chinese buffet is worth the extra drive.

Ive been going there multiple times but every time I do they dont keep up with their food some of its out and its not even busy, their family of coworkers will talk about you and laugh if you grab platefuls of food which in my cause I do because I love chinese, they give the check early as in ok youve had enough now leave rather than waiting for me to pay up front.

Wow, just wow. There is a old man waiter who will sit down at a random table, and put his BARE FEET on one of the customer seats! Just feel disgusted to look at!!! The food is simply terrible - Cheese won-ton is sour in the middle, beef broccoli seems to have been reheated for ages, fruits are too far from fresh. Plus you dont get any variety to choose from.

I love buffets, I have been to China Wok numerous times over the course of my life. Every time the food has be to my liking. I wont say excellent -- not because it isnt -- I am just not that objective, I either like food or dont. I have been there a few times this week and am headed there for lunch today. Great place to eat :)

People who give this a poor rating are NUTS and need to stay in Madison. Food is good and it is busier at noon. Evenings are slower and food is replenished at a slower rate but still good. The Family who runs this for over 10 years are great and do care and are very friendly. My begs to go here and for good reason!

This is the worst buffet I have been to in years. I will not return to this restaurant ever again. They could not keep food in the trays even though they were not busy. Poor selection. They were friendly and good about taking plates from the table. I wish I would have just gone to 1 of my other chinese buffets.

Hands down THE WORST Chinese takeout in Madison. I dont know how a Chinese restaurant can screw up dumplings, but this place gets a blue ribbon for the grossest: stuffed with mostly mushy broccoli, & over fried. The Gen Tsos is so soggy and flavorless, I cant even make myself take another bite. Yuck.

The food is always great and service has always been good. Ive been there twice in the last month and the food is always delicious even when we decide to carry out. I kind of miss the old location though where we could sit and relax, but take out has been consistently hot and tasty. Jim

China Wok isnt horrible but its the greasiest of the Chinese Ive tried in Middleton. And a couple of items Ive had were basically a salt lick. The portions are huge and in the same vein as "party pizza", this place serves a purpose.

China Wok is now carryout with a view tables for dinning in. Moved to new location and is not a buffet. Food is made to order. The food is very good. I am a regular. Food is even better than buffet as it is made to order.

One of the few places that has honey chicken. Teriyaki beef&chicken is always good, lo mein = delicious, and staff is always friendly. Whats not to love? P.S. Not a buffet, at least not anymore.

Their dish Prawn Amazing is wonderful - one of the best Chinese dishes I have ever had. Ive ordered it many times and it is always excellent

Prepare to over-eat! Sometimes certain dishes, like the salmon, are hit and miss, but usually pretty good. They have sushi now too!
