My girlfriend and I were in town for a meeting at the Grand Geneva Resort so we decided to go in to town to see what we could gather for lunch. We heard through the grape vine that Simple Cafe was a great spot, so we sought it out! It took us a few minutes to figure out where it was, because Google maps had it listed next door at the bank. We quickly figured out it was next door and went in, and put our name in. The wait to get a table was about 10 minutes; was around lunchtime so it was expected. The cafe is somewhat small, but cozy. It is full of bright colors and though very busy, it was quite clean! There is outdoor seating available, weather permitting. While we were waiting for our table we browsed the menu in the foyer (you can also wait in the Simple Bakery next door, they will come get you from there as well) so we knew what we wanted. The waitress was quite pleasant, and attentive, though she seemed rushed. I ordered the Pesto Grilled Chicken Sandwich and my girlfriend ordered the Simple Old School Burger, both came with a side of Simple Potatoes. We were both completely satisfied with our meals. The sandwich was well crafted and seemed to be a bit cleaner than most other cafes (grease/oil). It seemed to be quite the destination so dont expect a quick in and out during peak times - but it is well worth the wait! Will definitely be back when I am in town!

Walked in and asked for a table for 5 with one high chair. Crammed at a 4 top just outside the kitchen, at the end of the counter, and bathroom line was right next to us. We couldnt have been seated in a higher traffic location unless it was in the kitchen. The place was 20% empty the entire time we were there. D+ service Server was nice, when she came by, but she wasnt attentive. A different server offered to bring us some toast for the child that was upset and hungry. (Thank you to her, that was a life saver!) Tables around us turned 1-2 times before we even got our food. I know that isnt the servers fault, but we werent checked on or updated with what was going on. C quality food. Korean bbq bowl seemed to be a packaged heat and serve entree with a handful of frozen broccoli florets that were still cold and some additional mushrooms tossed in. French toast was served on a plate that was hot, but the toast itself was only warm. It was tasty, but who wants room temperature French toast with room temp cinnamon apples? Corned beef hash was very good, but again only warm and served on a hot plate. Kids pancakes were the best and freshest thing on the table. We were all excited to eat here, but I dont think well be back. Not the way I was hoping to start my holiday weekend.

I love natural, healthy food, and was excited to see that a hopefully healthy restaurant was opening in Lake Geneva. Having family in town for the holidays, and they knowing of my love for natural foods, we went for lunch at Simple on 12/29/09. The decor is nice, clean, bright and simple. We loved the unique lighting. If you consider white bread, bacon and fried potatoes healthy, this is the restaurant for you. All of our four different sandwich entrees were all made with white bread and included fried potatoes. I had a grilled Buffalo Mozzarella sandwich, which sounded great, but the cheese in it was cold, just not what I expected. My husbands burger was greasy. His white bun was shiny with grease. So- not all bad. Alterra coffee is great. And they state that much of the food is locally grown- but?- is that possible in winter? We do not think that we will be going back too soon as three out of four of us were disappointed with our lunches. The breakfast reviews sound pretty good though..... A suggestion from a health food foodie- whole grains, more veggies and healthy sides. What about offering a bean burger too? And, items like lentil stew? I will look forward to seeing how Simple may possibly grow into a GREAT, healthy, natural food restaurant!

Since the opening this winter, my family and I have had the pleasure of dining at Simple approximately five times. We LOVE it! The food has a wonderful flavor, and is a bit more interesting than a normal restaurant menu. We all have our favorites. Mine are the Strawberry-Orange Swedish Pancakes (Yum!) and the Pesto Grilled Chicken Sandwich with fresh mozzarella. My daughters favorites are the Eggs Sardou with fresh spinach and a yummy Creole hollandaise and the Fresh Mozzarella Sandwich. She loves how the mozzarella is served cold in the sandwich to maintain the true texture and taste of the cheese. My husband loves the Designer Omelets and Turkey Burger, while my son loves the Portobello Sandwich. The portions are more than enough, since I generally have to ask for a box to go. We also love the easy parking, for which Lake Geneva is not known, and the relaxed atmosphere. Cleanliness is a trait I look for when eating at a restaurant, and Simple is spotless, including the tastefully decorated bathrooms. The staff must have been hired with customer service in mind, as we have been impressed with the friendliness and professionalism of each server we have had. All in all, great food, great service, and great price!

The while experience of Simple was the best from our trip here in Lake Geneva. They are fully staffed so the service is wonderful. The interior is bright and invigorating with lots of natural sunlight. We started with some coffee, and ended up having to buy a back from the Simple market and bakery next door because it was some of the best we have had. Our waitress was happy to talk with us about the best food on the menu based on what was in season and took the time to tell us about where some of the ingredients were sourced. Everything on the menu is under $10, but easily worth more. We had the Quinoa and Corn fritters, Turkey and Sweet corn omelet and split a short stack of blue berry pancakes. All breakfast dishes come with fresh potatoes which beat plain hash browns ten times over. We are forever in love with Simple.

We were there yesterday for breakfast and I ordered fruit with my omelet instead of toast/potatoes because I restrict my carbs. I was served a sliced green apple at a $1.00 additional charge. When I questioned why I couldnt have fresh fruit I was told that they only serve locally grown fruit. I find this interesting because I was eating zucchini in my omelet that clearly was not locally grown, so I guess this on only the rule for fruit. The waitress was not very friendly about the issue and frankly, we wont be back. I think that it is completely unfair that when Im eliminating two items from my meal and asking for one thing, Im charged an additional amount and then given a green apple. Beware if you go off the menu. Also, my omelet was over-cooked. Disappointing - we will dine elsewhere in the future.

Great staff but the food is just pretty bad. Nice presentation however. We have tried it here now about ten times and have concluded that the food is surprisingly unfortunate. The hamburger was sad. Ive never had a burger with so little flavor or cause me to wish I just reheated aldi frozen patties. This place has a great atmosphere and with some instruction in the kitchen and maybe a little inspiring pep talk to the cook staff about cooking something they are passionate and proud of this restaurant would become a regular stop for us. Its obvious the owners cared when it was launched years ago but it seems the passion for the food quality is missing now. Once again staff handled all of our issues with the food with kindness and sincerity but unfortunately the waitress cant make it taste any different.
