Ive been to Agave Kitchen a few times now and have been thoroughly impressed with the service and the food. This place is always busy, so do not plan on being seated during busy dinner service right away. Stop in, put your name on the list, and either head upstairs to the bar or stop in just down the street at Dicks Bar for a drink or two while you wait. We waiting to seat our table of 7 for about an hour, which was not a problem. We headed upstairs and ordered drinks and appetizers. I had a mojito, which was delightfully handmade with fresh mint leaves. It was a tad sweet, but still very good. The nachos at Agave Kitchen are phenomenal, the best I have ever had. They do not skimp on their high quality toppings, the chicken is amazing. I recommend the nachos highly. After we settled our tab upstairs, we were seated at our table and the waitress was very nice, quick, and accurate. She was also willing to split up our bills for the individuals and the couples. The food is top-notch. Ive had the steak in the past and had a burger at my most recent visit. Very high quality meat, bun, toppings, and the flavor was great. Everybody was satisfied with their food (others ordered the chimichanga, chicken wings, taco salad, and flatbread). Agave Kitchen is one of the best places to eat in Hudson and is well worth the wait. Just dont expect to walk in and get a dining area seat. After eating dinner, walk the pier and enjoy beautiful downtown Hudson.

***Original review November, 2008*** I was excited to check out this new restaurant a couple weeks ago. We took our two boys. To make a long bad experience short...the kids macaroni is Kraft - out of a box (the waitress told us it was Kraft). I could have done that at home! I ordered a chicken enchilada. It was so obviously pre-prepared and heated up. Both ends of each one were tough as heck. I had to dump it out of the dish it came in just so I could fight with a fork and knife to cut through them. There was no enchilada sauce on top, but a ton of cheese and barely any filling!? Enchiladas are typically wrapped in corn tortillas, these were (heavily) wrapped in flour tortillas. It honestly would not take much time to make the food fresh. Just a lazy chef! It is really unfortunate that the quality of the food does not match the quality of the atmosphere - or the price! Seriously, save your time and your money and try some place else! ***Dear Glame and MORE! - The injustice was done on us as customers. This was our experience. I didnt even mention we waited forever for our food. From other reviews, it seems theyre great at burgers, which I did not order. Regardless, the food and service were poor. It has been a couple years. Im willing to give them another try. But you know what they say about fool me once and fool me twice. Ill let you know. 8-23-2010

Went there on easter sunday with my family from out of town, as it was one of the only restaurants open in the area. I wasnt pleased with the experience. After waiting for a long while, with four hungry kids, our food finally came out and was only lukewarm. The food tasted pretty good, but was very salty. Had our experience ended there, we would have left moderately satisfied, but not really ever craving to return. Unfortunately for my kids and myself, we were awake all night barfing and crapping from food poisoning. In addition, as we were leaving the restaurant, we walked past the kitchen and I saw the grill man handling raw meat with his bare hands and cooking meat on the grill at the same time. We wont be returning. Reply to owner: Cameras say different? You reviewed the footage? Post it on youtube and provide the link for everyone to see. I have nothing to gain from privately emailing you, I already know Im never going back to this restaurant. However, you may have something to gain, if I see on the video that you are correct, Ill remove or revise this review.

Of course, the food was delicious... Except Im not very happy with the staff, and my mother said she will not be returning. We visited the restaurant today, May 14th. It was going well, we got our drinks quick... But when my mother grabbed the edge of her chair to pull it in... She was cut by glass and started to bleed. She rinsed her cut, and the waitress apologized and cleaned up the chunks of glass under our table. I asked her for a bandaid and she said she would get one... But she never got one. Understandable, she may have forgotten or didnt hear me correctly because it was right before the dinner rush. But after that we got nothing. I kind of expected... A mild discount? An apology from the owner or manager? A bandaid? We were both disappointed by the lack of apology or composition. Its completely understandable that someone didnt notice the glass, and I dont, by any means, blame the staff... But an apology from a manager is the least they could have done. Other than that we did have a pleasant meal and time.

Went in, place was not very busy maybe about 50% capacity, I believe it was the owner who waited on us from behind the bar. Our skinny wing appetizers came out about 15 to 20 minutes after ordering. They were ok, nothing big deal about cutting up some chicken breasts and slathering some BBQ sauce on them but that was exactly what I expected of them. We ordered a simple burger and a BLT wrap, AFTER WAITING OVER 45 minutes and "complaining" about the wait we finally got a mediocre burger and fries (which you would imagine might be HOT as can be right off the grill - NOT) which we paid over $10 for...on top of this the BLT had NO B in it...they comped the LT wrap (gee, thanks after making us wait for nearly an hour you dont charge us for a BLT wrap you screwed up)??? Menu prices are too high for this place and for Hudson...will NEVER go nor recommend this place. IF it were the owner youd have thunk (=) hed have tried to smooth us over with something a bit more than taking the screwed up order off? TERRIBLE SERVICE.

Agave = Awesome. My gal and I went for a day trip to Hudson this past Sunday. The weather was miserable and nearly ruined the trip. We stopped for lunch at Agave, and found an awesome environment. Our server, Katie (Katee) was perfect - she checked on us many times, but did not linger... as it to impose us to answer. Very good. She seemed like a happy person and made us comfortable. Our meals were excellent... (lots of fries with that cheeseburger). For me, it was probably the best dining experience Ive had in many years. All your employees were professional and well manners. Price for the value of food and service was outstanding. I would recommend Agave to anyone - they will not disappoint. Hint: If you want to see more cheese cake, give less fries with your meals. I will say, though, the fries were awesome. Good job!

I love this place. The menu options are limited, but Agave is good at what it does: burgers, tacos, cheese curds, etc. They have great drinks too. The biggest downside is the cost and the space. Burgers are around $13 with some add on options available. They have a gluten free bun for an extra $1. Agave is a cozy place with seating on the first floor where there is also a bar, a few two-person tables on the second floor where the kitchen is, and then a space upstairs that they call the bullpen. I havent been up there yet. There can be a wait time if you go during peak hours. We went last Saturday and had to wait about 10 minutes to get a table. Not bad in my opinion. All in all, this is a nice place that I highly recommend. Just plan to spend around $15/person for dinner and more if you go for drinks.
