I try to stop at a new non-corporate or non-chain restaurant whenever time allows and Im glad I did! The Classic Garage is an off the beaten path diner, but still within 2 minutes drive of downtown Eau Claire. My son and I had a wonderful and quick meal. I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich and my son opted for the "Coup Deville burger. They do make their own french fries, which I normally would have ordered but when I also learned that the beer cheese soup and their version of chili were also made in house, thats what we chose. The Philly was served steaming hot, the roll tender but not so tender to get soggy too fast, with the usual topping and served with a side of au jus. Big enough to have to cut in half to eat and deliscious! The Coup Deville is a patty melt burger served between slices of toasted to crispy perfection wheatberry bread. My sons comments were only positive...and hes hard to please! The beer cheese soup was hot and satisfying, with just a hint of beer flavor. Could have been just a little bit thicker/creamier, but flavor was spot on. I did sneak a spoon of the chili...rich with a fresh tomato creaminess. There were no leftovers although portions were quite adequate. I will be back to try their fresh fries...as I appreciate that a menu item as simple as fries are not just brought in frozen, and appreciate this so much that it annoys my family when we dine out...as well as whoever asks at the restaurant when I ask how they can serve those other things they call french fries made with no love. Being off the beaten path, I do worry that their business will need to work very hard to attract and return diners to their location. If you value reasonably priced food made with love, please give them a try!

As locals my husband and I were looking for somewhere new to have lunch and were both so happy we finally stopped into this little gem! The hubs had the Patty Melt which was super juicy (locally sourced beef) and I had The Best Dang Chicken Salad Sandwich on toasted wheatberry bread which lived up to the hype, we both had the fresh cut fries with chili and cheese. The portion sizes are are more than adequate and our meals were out fast, hot, and delicious! Although it is short-order service and I have learned not to expect much from other establishments that are set up the same way, we were very pleased with how two different staff members checked back on us several times. The pricing is just about right for the quality and quantity of food especially when you add in the friendly service with a smile at an imaculately clean 50s themed diner. We will definitely be going back and next time Im ordering an Elkdorado burger (fresh ground elk/black angus blend) and skipping the fries to save room for a malt or a milkshake! Family friendly with a modern twist on classic diner fare and a generous selection of beer as well makes dining here a no brainer!

DAMN GOOD food and fairly priced. Shakes were to be desired, had a similar taste to McDonalds. The issue I have with this place is their irresponsibility. Asked for water, got Styrofoam, got a shake, got Styrofoam, got a portion to go, got Styrofoam. The amount of waste these guys are creating is appalling. Putting profit over responsibility is not a good look. Maybe it fits with the ignorance of the 50s and 60s. Smaller complaint was the stuffy feeling in there. It was a beautiful day but the garage doors were closed. I noticed they seemed caulked shut. Why is that? Having them open on a beautiful summer day would be an amazing vibe. Had to do 2 stars off for the Styrofoam. We should be passed this.. Ill gladly update this post if you decide to go compostable!

First time at this place so we were kinda excited...we had to wait like 5 min to get service at the counter where you order at there apparently was only one server working. It was a Friday evening and they were out of the elk burger which i thought was odd being it was maybe 5pm so we both ordered burgers of some sort which were the size of burgers you would see in a kids meal...they were good but very disappointing if your a guy and hungry which my husband was! The food did taste good but the portions are very small.

I dont write reviews much. But sometimes a place is so amazing I have to say something!!! My wife and I took the kids here and we absolutely LOVE IT! Best fries. Amazing wings and the BEST hand made chicken strips I have ever had. The staff are all very helpful and friendly as well! Life hack... When you leave order some fries to go put them in the fridge for later then eat them cold. I KNOW it sounds horrible but for some reason their fries cold are amazing!!! Try it!!!!

Have been here several times and everything we have had so far has been excellent. My favorite are the chicken tenders they are huge and deliciously crispy! The decor is like a classic diner and there is literally a classic car (Corvette Stingray) parked in the middle of the restaurant. Always really clean, even the bathrooms! Friendly staff and fast service. Bottom line: make sure you stop here as much as possible, you wont be disappointed!

Some road trips are about the journey and some are about the destination. This one was about both. Our destination was Eau Claire, Wisconsin and The Classic Garage. Once a repair garage and Pure gas station, its now a 50s diner. Parking out front is reserved for classic cars and you never know what youll see. The food is excellent and the decor is pure 50s.

Food tastes really good, its freshly made. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. The size of the burgers its a little bit small compared to other places. Prices are standard for a burger and fresh fries. Cheese curds are really good and fresh. The place its pretty clean and has a good ambience for a family or friends dinner.

Customer service was great, the owner himself came up to our table to see how everything was. Fun environment with great food. A lot of people said the food was expensive but honestly it is no more expensive than any other place you will eat at. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone one, fun for adults and kids!

Great atmosphere, stellar service, and good food make for a winning combination. Traveling through and found this joint based on Google so figured Id add my two cents. Prices were to be expected for a sit down burger/sandwich, nothing outrageous, and plenty of food (I got a cheesesteak combo). Definitely recommend.

Can not believe this place... for many years I have been using ketchup on patty melts and fries. Today we stopped here and I didnt need any seasoning.... or ketchup!!!! The gal Alex was a phenomenal individual!! The main thing I can complain about is that there isnt one closer to my home!!!

We were in Eau Claire today for a doctor appointment. We googled where to eat lunch? Due to the great reviews, we decided to go there today for lunch. Highly recommend! Great food, best fries! Really cool atmosphere. Quality ingredients. We wish it was not 3 hours away from Oshkosh!

If you are visiting Eau Claire or you live in the Chippewa Valley... the Classic Garage is hands down one of the best places to eat here. A fully restored garage with all the elements of the 50s. Very friendly service and DELICIOUS food!! Its our new favorite place to go to :)
