I rarely take time to sit down and write reviews, yet in this instance I felt it was a necessity. First of all I want to make it clear that this review has nothing to do with the food served, taking into consideration that it is always great. However, the reason for my review is based on the awful and disrespectful service received from what I can only assume was the hostess. Taking into consideration that I have been an international student pursuing my bachelor degree at UWEC, I had family coming in from around the world to attend my graduation, and it was a natural choice for me to bring them out for lunch at the Nucleus, due to their always great food. Unfortunately, I regret my decision of doing so. Without going into great detail in regards of the treatment me and my family received from one of the employees as guests at this establishment, it was truly an awful experience. Not only am I embarrassed on behalf of the establishment itself, but I am extremely embarrassed of my decision to bring such an uncomfortable experience upon my own family. Having been fortunate enough to travel a lot within my lifespan and gotten to visit many restaurants within different countries, I can honestly admit that I have never in my entire life experienced such a distasteful treatment by a restaurant employee. Nucleus is a great place for food, as mentioned, but this particular incident was excruciating. It was truly unfortunate that this was my last lunch experience in Eau Claire, taking into consideration that I have now moved back to Europe, and I hope that no other guests will have to endure what me and my family went through.

We are new to the area and were looking for a good place to have breakfast. We were intrigued by the interesting menu and decided to try the place. Initially, we walked into a slightly busy place and received a cold greeting. We sat at an open table, which ended up being drafty and cold. Our waitress was quick to take our order and deliver coffee, but we honestly did not see her a whole lot after that, except to continuously offer coffee refills costing 50 cents each. Honestly, it was a small, cheap cup of coffee, which I had no interest in paying an additional 50 cents on top of the $1.50 charge to refill. I would have thought the first decline was enough. After 35 minutes of waiting for our food, I inquired whether it was ready, to which our waitress cooly replied, "Its coming." Our view into the kitchen showed multiple staff members chatting and eating, while we were waiting. After another 10 minutes, we were ready to walk out when the food arrived. Now, up until this point, all would have been forgivable had the food been good, but it wasnt. My eggs benedict was absolutely nothing special, considering their price. My partners french toast was expensive and simple. I would have saved money to make myself a better meal at home. Overall, the restaurant was uncomfortable with an unfriendly staff and poor quality food for the cost. I hope this was a bad day and an exception for this place, but I wouldnt ever go back.

Worst experience ever. I have honestly never been compelled to write a review but that changed this morning. One of my best friends got married yesterday and 12 of us decided to get breakfast before we parted ways. We were told that the wait would be 30 minutes with a 45 minute food wait, which we were willing to wait for. It ended up being well over 45 minutes before the hostess split our group up and sat 6 of us. She made no attempt to put tables together and sat multiple groups that came in after us. At this point, I decided to leave and respectfully told the hostess that perhaps she should tell people that they cant accommodate a party of 12 and not have us wait 45 plus minutes and then split us up. Instead of apologizing, she was beyond rude and it solidified our choice to depart.

Hands down my favorite breakfast place in Eau Claire. Nothing beats the Nucleus. I finally managed to have their lemon ricotta hotcakes which they are normally sold out of, and they were worth the anticipation (the ones pictured are the coconut flaxseed hotcakes, which were also good). Its always busy here so plan on waiting at least a half hour on the weekends. The Nucleus is modern and trendy but not too uppity. Youll enjoy it! **Note: It can be confusing when you walk in since they dont have a formal area where you wait to get seated, but you should probably enter through the coffee shop in the back. The hostess walks around and finds you (she must just look for perplexed faces)--its strange and my one complaint with the place.

Jeramey the owner is a masochist pig. The man kicked out a guy who was talking to one of his employees out of "concern" for the employee. Those of us who knew better know it was because he wanted an excuse to physically touch said employee. In fact Jeramey didnt even have the cajones to tell the guy himself. Instead, he had one of his parents tell the gentleman that he was no longer welcome. The man tries to sleep with the women that work for him and, tries to screw employees out of their paychecks. But what can you expect from a guy who is a nasty womanizer and an alcoholic? And the food, sure its great. But youre paying for ambiance.

Pretty popular breakfast spot, for an out of tower it was nice to experience. I had the lemon ricotta hotcakes which were pretty good. I didnt even need syrup on them. Coffee seemed to have an interesting taste to it, which I didnt mind. Waitress was friendly and made me feel welcomed. Its open seating so feel free to sit anywhere. Id go again to try some more of the menu. I also didnt find it pricey seemed just about right for a sit down breakfast with more than enough to fill you up.

I have lived in Eau Claire for a few years and will likely spend a couple more here. This place offers a very unique dining experience with fresh vegetables, local meats, and custom drinks (Racys Coffee Shop). The food is always well prepared and the menu is very creative. The only 2 drawbacks are the old/somewhat rough decor and things are a little costly; however, this is a wonderful place to go! I recommend the Nucleus to all my friends and family.

Great breakfast and lunch fair very close to the UWEC campus. The wait for seating and food can sometimes be very long but thats only because its delicious. Coffee served is from the coffee shop in the rear of the restaurant (Racys) which is fantastic. Lots of breakfast options, but get there as soon as they open if you want the lemon ricotta hotcakes, chicken and waffles or the eggs Benedict- they go fast.

Food is always amazing. The wait, less so, but that is the price you pay. I have never had terrible service here, but they are always super busy so its difficult for them to provide amazing service. If youve ever worked in a restaurant, you understand the difference. El presidente and the nucleus french toast are to die for. There is limited space, so avoid bringing strollers / extra baggage with you.

Wait for our food on a Sunday at noon was about 45 mins, but it was worth every bite. Omelette was stuffed to the max with crab with a super large helping of hash browns. Crepe the size of my calf was overflowing with whipped cream and bananas. The portions were super huge, especially for the price. Latte was beautiful and just as delicious. Wish I lived in the area so I could come here more often.
