This Azteca has come a long way since some of these reviews were written. Under new management for a while, you can tell the food is cooked fresh here. I come for and love their spinach tamales, which they cook here. There are quite a few options for the vegetarian. The black bean soup is to die for! I also love the chicken taquitos, wrapped fresh here. They also offer steamed white rice, whole beans and freshly made guacamole and pico de gallo. The food comes out fast and the restaurant is family run with wonderful service by all, especially the wonderful smile of GM America ( her real name) and her husband Arturo. I bring my famished sons here for taco Tuesdays and Thursdays where they make fresh homemade tortillas for all to see up front on their tortilla machine. Its all you can eat tacos, rice and beans for 6 bucks! How can you go wrong? Yes, coming from Calif. I agree its not totally authentic but this is Spokane, not Mexico! If you want it spicier or different than whats on the menu, all you have to do is ask! Here, the customer is always right and they will make it to order! Im a regular. Sure the parking is pay as they dont own the lot, but they give you a discount on your bill. When I dont want to come downtown, they deliver! Love it here!

The food wasnt terrible, but it wasnt particularly good either. The prices were average I suppose, for that type of place. The food was prepared quickly, but the service was awful.. and a lot of the other reviewers say they have also had bad service, so I know Im not the only one with this experience. Parking next to the restaurant was very expensive ($10+ tax, I guess there was an event going or something..), and the restaurant only reembursed us for $3 worth despite that the sign on the building states that they will reemburse you completely. I guess the normal rate is around $3 and Azteca doesnt own the lot, so, not their fault I guess. Still though, they should list the exact amount of reembursement on the sign, so people like me know not to park there when the prices are higher than that amount. All in all, I spent over $20 on a mediocre burrito that I didnt enjoy.

Youve got to be kidding. Obviously all these people who rated Azteca more than a 2 star restaurant are poor judges of good food. This is the third time, dont ask me why I keep giving it more chances, I have eaten there and the food is a joke. Today I ordered a fajita salad. Everyone knows that fajitas have grilled onions, green and red peppers, but this salad came with iceberg lettuce, a few tomatoes, a hard boiled egg and a few slices of grilled beef. No guacomole, no sour cream, nothing. What a disappointment. I have now vowed to not return to Azteca. When will Spokane get a real mexican restaurant???

Im pretty picky about Mexican food and this place wasnt bad. I had a chicken chimichanga and it wasnt dry chicken that has sat forever in a steam table of water. The kids had tacos and they were loaded full of chicken and toppings and a big side of beans and rice. The beans werent bad (I dont like refried beans but they were pretty good) but the rice was a little dry but I dont usually like Mexican rice anyway. I also got a mojito and it was pretty strong and the glass wasnt packed with ice. Was worth its price. I will be coming back. Next time we are going to try taco Tuesday, $6 all you can eat tacos.

Group of 10 of us had reservations at 8. There was only our table and 3 tables of 4 So it wasnt that busy. 8:41 we got our drinks. 8:50 they finally bring us water. 9:00 we finally get to order. I had to get the host 3 times to help us cause our waitress was never around. I got the tacos el pastor along with 1 other person in our group. 230am Im leaping out of bed puking my brains out all night!!!! This place is a S^*T SHOW!!!! Only thing I ate all day and got foot poisoned!!!

The food here can be a bit pricey at times, but you certainly get your moneys worth. Most plates have very large portions, and the drinks here are astounding. The kitchen staff does a an excellent job of ensuring the food comes quickly, presented in a very authentic manner. Only reason that the restaurant does not receive full marks is that there tables and chairs are slightly dated, although I personally feel that this adds to the character of the place.

If you dont mind chain restaurants, Azteca is OK, close to downtown, and convenient for large family situations. Downside would be parking. The service was friendly, but the drinks were watery and made with poor ingredients. The veggie fajitas were obviously made with frozen, pre-cut vegetables -- the more I think about it the worse I feel about it. It wasnt cheap either -- my advice is to take your money and spend it on a local eatery!

Went for lunch today it was taco tuesday. The meat was ground turkey it was bland the salsa was bland. They give you paper plates to eat off of. They charge you extra for sour cream and guacamole. One good thing is the rice it tastes great. After this I will not be going back. Too bad this was my first time there.

Great food and Great service. Food is always fresh and tastes wonderful. Lot of food for a affordable price. Plus take out food always the same as the dining menu. Includes chips and salsa. Family friendly and a wonderful atmosphere. Dont miss dining there.

Having grown up in Mexico, I really appreciated the authenticity of flavors at Azteca downtown! The carnitas tacos were delicious (I had them the last time we came and had to order them again this time!) The flan was absolutely on point. Oh man, so delicious.

Whenever I go to Azteca I always have had great service especially considering Im in Spokane for b business conferences and given how close to the function sure is and how busy it gets after the conference lets or they have amazingly quick service.

Horrible. Wait for table was understandable. Wait for service and food was not. No smiles, rude, slow. It was obvious our food was under the heat lamp for an extended amount of time. I will tell everyone I know not to eat there.

Very disappointed in the food. I never had such bad salsa! Also I have never been to a Mexican restaurant that had such awful rice and beans. I have been to other Azteca restaurants and never has the food been so poorly done.

Great food deserves its reputation as one of the top dining spots in Spokane. Menu has unique feel and everything looks great. The asparagus was perfect, duck wonton special was tasty. Coconut dessert was delicious.

Although the staff was wonderful and service was great the taco salads we ordered were awful. Meat was mushy and so much lettuce...there was water in the bottom of the salad bowls.

Good portions, definately tasty, nothing authentic, moderately painful on the wallet. Its what any local who has hardly been south of the border will love. A crowd pleaser.
