A local favourite in Olympia! This establishment is about community, local and global. The products sold here are fair trade, Direct Trade, the coffee is of the same caliber. The food is as organic (as often as possible) and locally sourced when available. This place doesnt have Wi-Fi, but thats on purpose, Traditions strives to create a welcoming atmosphere where face to face, direct communication, openness, and community outreach converge. This is not just a "cafe" it is host to musical events, community gatherings, even working with local and global outreach in areas of environmental and social justice. Grab a delicious meal, a warm beverage, and be prepared for education and edification! This is one of my go to spots for food, conversation, and a plethora of educational events that are sometimes in sponsorship of faculty from the Evergreen State College, and other local, regional, and international organizations! This place is LGBTQ friendly, disability friendly, a hate free environment!

The food was wonderful. They whip theyre own cream and use fresh, local eggs. They serve soups, sandwiches (cold and paninis), and various entrees like black bean enchilada, quiches, lasagna... They have some baked goods and a wide selection of drinks from herbal teas to Italian sodas. All super yummy and reasonably priced. The cafe itself was cute, comfortable, and quiet. They have a lending library (about fair trade topics) and a small play area for kids (blocks, etc). From the cafe side you can wander into the store side where theres fairly good quality and attractive fair trade products. Woven headbands, reed baskets, cooperative board games, wooden blocks and figures, recycled paper journals and cards, rubber tire purses, etc. The owner is sweet and friendly. Paid street parking only. Shouldnt be TOO hard to find. We went at 1 on a Wed and found parking right away. All in all, worth it.

Place is dissociatively hateful. They followed me to the bathroom to watch me poop and kicked me out saying I was inherently sinning, earlier having said that I was a spy for NASA (outside of their place) and also an Indian devil worshipper later trying to undermine their white culture, something I dont think makes sense coming from a multicultural store (are they advertising exploiting people), when I never interacted or talked to them or anybody in there. I ordered coffee, I worked on my computer, I bought merchandise from their store. There was no reason for this. Im a writer. Theyre responsible for constantly undermining and disturbing my work for absolutely >>>no<<< reason, employees of theirs. I wish they would stop.

Great local place. Very casual - bus your own table, hang out. Many local performances and meetings are held here. The fair trade store has something for everyone, and has improved since my last visit - fun to walk through, a little like a gallery, and better lighting. The cafe doesnt have enough fresh baked goods, and no vegan baked goods. The menu is not extensive and feels a little dusty (as though it has never changed). But its a reliable place (though they did make me the wrong beverage) and a local favorite. Very family friendly, even with some toys.

I love this place; shop and cafe. There is a social justice lending library. Cafe food is top quality and prepared with love and care and service is kind and friendly. The seating area is cozy and relaxing. The store is one of a kind in the region with artisan crafts from all over the world including wonderful clothing and houseware items and toys and books etc. I cant wait to visit again next time Im in Olympia or driving through.

Mediocre food. The front counters are unkempt. I witnessed an employee use the steam wand of the espresso machine to sanitize serving utensils. This did not instill confidence in me regarding the rest of their food handling practices. The employees exude the insecure, self-righteous Olympia disposition. Unless you also have this disposition, dont bother with this place.

Every person on staff is beyond kind. They actually listen and care. Also, no Wi-Fi so tables of people looking at each other comunicating, great place for a first date. Always has chill music with beats. The food is pure energy and organic. Im am not adventurous eater and I want to work on that flaw. Traditions has helped because I trust everything will be fantastic

I come here from many reasons. My child loves playing in the comfortable atmosphere, it is has the most beautiful location downtown and the first destination on a fun afternoon. The staff inspire me and I watch the business do amazing things. The food feels great and the music does too!

An Olympia institution. Simple, hand-made meals with a little something extra to transcend expectations or predictability. Wholesome and inspiring. Great ingredients and service. Community art and music events and feature performances make this a low-key but vital "community center."

I have adored Traditions for my entire life. I played in the store when I was a little kid, I hung out with my friends as a teenager, Ive patronized both the store and cafe as an adult -- its an Olympia tradition to go to Traditions, and youre missing out if you dont.

Fine fair trade objects of beauty and joy fill the shop. The people there are always friendly. The cafe has very good food, good prices, and a relaxed atmosphere. The concerts and other cultural events are great, and views of the lake and capital are wonderful.

Extremely cultural and local community. Very open-minded and welcoming. Pay it forward policy allows people to buy coffees for people who cant afford them. High-value cultural shopping center attached. Lots of resources and local information inside.

Traditions Cafe is the best place in Olympia for live acoustic music, with a friendly, comfortable atmosphere, good food (w an array of vegetarian and GF options), and lovely things at the adjoining New Traditions shop.

I love this place. Its tiny but impressive. The imports are hand-selected with care by the owner and range from practical clothing to outrageous figures. Stop by.

We have been going to Traditions for almost ten years now. Its a great place to find a special gift or a great cup of soup and coffee.

I love the staff and the food here. Plus they have lots of unique non-food items, such as hats, toys, musical instruments, and art.

Love this cafe and shop! They serve amazing food and such great quality as well. You have to try the enchiladas

Close too early, and a bit too hippy-dippy for my taste, but a local favorite and a bit of an older crowd.

Randomly stopped by on vacation. Maybe my favorite place ever. You can literally feel the love here...

There are so many beautiful creations and many of them are lower prices than one might think.
