This was our first time visiting Azafran Bistro and we loved it so much that we are planning to go back again! We were leery of trying them out because some of the reviews mentioned poor service and overpriced food, but Im so glad we went to check it out for ourselves. We didnt need to make any reservations and it wasnt busy on a Sunday night at 8:30, plus parking was super easy, available pretty much all around the building. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly hostess/waitress and we were promptly seated. The restaurant seating was comfortable and the tables were spaced in a way that allows people to have their privacy. I liked the ambiance too, the Mediterranean music in the background was loud enough to hear but not overbearing, they had tablecloths and cloth napkins, nicely set table, nice paintings and decorations - overall, it was pleasant and inviting. The menu has a lot of different choices, and my favorite part of the menu is the wine pairing suggestions beneath most dishes, it makes it so much easier to select a wine. An improvement/suggestion for the menu would be pointing out the dishes that contain nuts so that people who are allergic can be aware (or request to omit). We ordered and shared a Mediterranean dinner of Tapas and Paella, which is a three course dinner that had enough food for 3 people. Our food was served quickly and everything was as ordered. Our waitress, Amy, was friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating to menu changes. We had mentioned food allergies to her in our questions about the menu, and after we ordered, she even asked the chef/owner, Osmar, to make a separate Cauliflower appetizer dish without nuts for us (without us asking for it since we didnt know if had nuts); needless to say, we were very pleased with her. As for wines, I dont know anything about Spanish, Greek, or other Mediterranean wines, so I didnt know what to order. After a couple of questions, our waitress offered us tastings so we could make a choice, another example of excellent service. Some of my favorites were the Romesco (red bell pepper dip, not spicy), the Pork Coca (fresh tasting shredded pork that melts in your mouth), and the Crema Catalan (similar to crème Brule), but everything on the table was delicious, even the mussels, which Im typically not a big fan of. During our fabulous dining experience, Amy told us that the chef/owner only uses fresh local food, non-GMO, sometimes organic, and I respect that. It makes me feel good to support a restaurant where the chef/owner puts a lot of attention in making wonderful recipes that also support local farmers and businesses. Finally, the prices are comparable to other restaurants, and their portions are also comparable to other restaurants, but I think Azafran portions are a little bit bigger. We had to take food home with us because we couldnt finish it all. Overall, an excellent Mediterranean cuisine restaurant, the only one Im aware of in Maple Valley, and I highly recommend it!

If you like Mediterranean food you should give it a try. Personally Im not a big Mediterranean food person but my wife wanted to try this place. The chef is the owner, we got the chance to talk to him for a bit which help me under a lot about the food and the restaurant. Everything is made to go he pride himself in not using microwaves freezers and most of the bad habits that chain restaurants do. I read a lot of reviews complaining about the price but for me the price was ok for what I got. I think he is in the wrong place for Mediterranean food he should be in Downtown Seattle and better decor around the restaurant. I felt like he is trying to hard to be a upscale restaurant. I think one day he could achieve that but he is not there yet. We had the hummus which I have never been a fan but I liked his, we also had the lamb and chicken tapas style sandwich the were good. I read other reviews complaining about seasoning but I didnt have that problem things were seasoning good for my liking. if you are looking for Mediterranean food give him a chance. Go with the mind that you are gonna have Mediterranean not American style food that is what you get when you go to most mexican restaurants.

Terrible experience!!! Walked in and was seated pretty quickley, its from here where it all goes down hill. It took 45 min for someone to take our order, another 45 min to receive our appetizer which was olives...olives. By this time it had become noticeable that we were not the only ones having this service. We waited another 45 min for our entres (chicken with veg and quinoa and the ragu pasta, both came out luke warm) By now we want to just get out of here as quickly as possible. We pay for our bill, the appetizer as well as our drink refills were compted. Would not go back, would not recommend. This terrible dining experience lasted 2.5 hours...

The best lunch I have had in a very long time, including places in the Seattle area. The pesto was amazingly fresh, the fries were perfectly crunchy and freshly sliced from potatoes. The pita was perfectly executed. I cannot say enough great things about this place that I literally just stumbled upon because my audio installer lives in the neighborhood. You cannot go wrong. Dont let the appearance fool you. Stop in and treat yourself to the biggest surprise youre likely to experience in seattle let alone maple Valley!! :)

Was not too pleased with our experience. The place feels so small like a living room.. It was my birthday celebration. First, our appetizers were cold... Who eats cold mussels? Then we asked what the waitress recommended since it was our first time.. she said it was her first night too so she didnt know... She just walked away instead of asking another waiter what to try... then when our food finally came, it was too salty. I was so annoyed I didnt even bother with dessert... Not going again.

I have eaten food all around the northern half of the Mediterranean, as well as the Aegean, where, by far, the best food and the best atmosphere are in the tiny inns, in the littlest villages, where it feels like a local family welcomes your family into their living room. This is, maybe, the fourth time in 30 years that Ive captured both the feeling and the rich, complex flavors of those traveling days. Aptly, its tucked away in a small, cozy corner of a small town.

The food was delicious and very presentable. I loved the clean and uncluttered look of the place. Although it isnt as ethnic looking as we had assumed it would be, the food more than made up for that. The only thing we were a little disappointed on was the wait. We were waiting for the waitress to come back so we could pay our ticket and that took over 15 minutes. Besides the wait, the server was courteous and responsible.

Really great food served in reasonably sized portions. We have been several times now but today we enjoyed the Brunch for the first time. My daughter could not stop praising The French Toast. Several of us had the Spanish Breakfast which has chorizo, eggs, toasted bread, and tomato sauce. All of the items are house made and so delicious with flavors combined in a unique way that works great together.
