What a weird, if not uncomfortable place for a restaurant. Go in through the far east back doors at the parking lot or else you have to find someone in the deserted hotel to tell you where it is (downstairs). The food was good, the hot sour soup being among the top three in our familys book. Went here foremost for the dry-cooked chicken with string beans. No lunch specials so we ordered the soup, chicken and another chicken dish (forgot which one). We were also brought a small dish of complimentary steamed rice. The bowl of soup is huge. The portions for the other dishes, not so much. We all realized we didnt like anything until we used soy sauce (which we never do at other restaurants) because one of the aspects of cooking healthy seems to be limiting salt. Soy sauce made everything better (except the soup which didnt need it). They need to do something different or no one is going to want to go back- its dead silent, they seat you right next to the only other table with customers and youre left just trying to make sense of all these old cookbooks on healthy cooking- it just isnt fun to be there. But the food does have merit and the prices are pretty standard so well likely give it another try.

The food it good if not very good, but ultimately gets too many things wrong. Pros: - Consistently yummy food - Clean - Reasonable prices Cons: - Dine-in service - Take out experience This is one of those places youd never find if not for word-of-mouth and online reviews. And, if you happened to stumble upon it youd probably think twice. Its in the bottom of a seedy motel, and the atmosphere in unconventional. Food is tasty, which keeps us coming back. Takeout performance is atrocious. Forgave getting order wrong, but on different order they quoted 35 min wait. I arrive to pick up in 45 and the hostess informed 20 more min, with a smile and didnt seem to really care apology(as in "Im sorry", then right back to what she was doing). Unacceptable. This place has potential, but classic case of restaurant that doesnt get that theyre in the service business first and foremost.

This used to be a 3 star rating but Ive bumped it to 4 and feel compelled to explain why. The fried food is delicious. An establishment with "healthy" in the name should not be making delicious fried food but here it is. Order any of the fried items and you wont regret it. The waitstaff alternates between quiet and perky depending on whos serving but it is always attentive, prompt, and helpful. Prices are right in the middle of the "reasonable" range. Tip: the restaurant is currently located in the lower back of a hotel so may be hard to locate. Do not go into the main hotel lobby. Continue east around to the back and enter through the large double doors on the lower side of the east parking lot. Alta is pretty hard to miss from this entrance.

Being chinese, my standards can be unreasonably high, but I will return to Alta for their authentic, not salty, not oily, no msg chinese food. We ordered Hand shaved noodles - right amount of chewiness, balanced flavor, reminds me of home Peppered chicken - like popcorn chicken buy way better, will order again Mapo tofu - can customize spiciness, very flavorful yet not too oily or salty stir fried string beans - clean, balanced, and authentic stir fried tofu with pork - yum, just like the street food of taiwan, my 2 year old boy loved it. Excellent service, which is uncommon for chinese restaurants, tops everything off. Try it folks, you wont be disappointed!

Clean, healthy tasting Chinese food. Truly a diamond in the rough. Im Chinese-Vietnamese and have grown up on Chinese cooking and eaten at many Chinese restaurants. This is the first place Ive been that has truly healthy cooking but still tastes amazing. Actually reminds me of my mom and grandmas cooking. Highly recommend. As for the negative reviews, I wouldnt expect anything heavy or greasy. You can find that in Bellevue or the International District. What you can expect is a great change of pace, something different thats good for you and also delicious. Also great customer service!

This cafe is in the bottom of a hotel. Its got a strange green decor with health related supplements and books around the room. Place is roomy enough to bring a moderate sized group. It wasnt very busy when we went for dinner. The Szechuan food was good, but I feel like I prefer the dishes from Spiced in Bellevue. GOOD * Szechuan boiled fish - Fish fillets with nappa cabbage in spicy sauce. * Spicy cilantro chicken - Stir fried chicken dark meat (with a decent amount of fat) with cilantro and spicy peppers.

This was a pleasant surprise! We were craving chinese while on the way to the wineries. I didnt expect it to be in the back of a hotel, but was easy to find. The food is fresh, made to order, and tasted great. You get a big portion, with rice it was plenty to share. I look forward to coming back.

Friendly staff, which is unusual at a Chinese restaurant. This place is tucked inside a small hotel in the Totem Lake area in Kirkland. Despite its location, the food is absolutely amazing! Its truly a healthy way to eat Chinese food. The place is also clean and quiet.

Hole in the wall Chinese restaurant. This place has random vitamin bottles on the wall, (maybe thats where the "healthy" comes from in their name). Food is pretty good so dont let the location and random decor turn you away

Great healthy spot for Chinese food in Kirkland. Lots of vegi options. Fresh, delicious, and friendly. They use less salt and no deep fried food. Everything is pan fried.

I tried pepper chicken pepper fish and curry chicken today. Taste is awesome. Indians will like this cafe for sure. I really like to visit this multiple times.

With its unorthodox restaurant vibe and obscure location, this szechuanese "healthy" Chinese restaurant is a fantastic welcome to the Totem Lake community!

Hole-in-the-wall in a strange location (inside a run-down hotel), but the service is great and the food is good. It was fun to try Szechuan peppercorns.

It’s only healthy because they sell some Chinese natural remedies and teas. The food is more Chinese than American, which is great. Worth a try!

Fantastic Chinese food in the lower level of an old motel. You have to drive around the back of the hotel to get there. Dont miss out.

Delicious! Everything is fresh and spicy. Love everything weve tried. Explore a little and dont just get the normal take out stuff.

Decent if oily food, but terrible customer service. After over an hour we asked for our food to go. Glasses were mildly dirty.

Delicious food, albeit in an odd location (lower level of a hotel). Cant go wrong with dry friend green beans and pepper fish.

I loved the food and the sauce. The mongolian beef and crispy tofu was excellent! Would recommend this place to anybody!

Service wasnt all that great the last time I was there. This meal was a tad expensive for the unimpressive meal I got.

Hidden gem in Kirkland. Weird location, but great family style meals, attentive staff and great food.
