A cleaner, less-cluttered shop with better roasted and better prepared coffee and chai than some others in the neighborhood. The staff was noticeably friendlier and more professional as well. It is conveniently located for waiting for the ferry or just shopping in Friday Harbor. The outdoor seating is great if you have a canine companion with you as long as the weather cooperates. There appeared to be a fair number of locals in with their laptops when I visited but there were still tables available. The coffee shops wifi internet was reasonably fast, and compatible with my works IPSec VPN (not always a sure thing).

Great customer service. My wife and I both got Frappes but I asked for Peppermint. We got the drinks and mine tasted off, especially compared to my wifes. I was just going to live with it but before we left the owner came up and told me he thinks he made the drink wrong and wondered if he could remake it for me. He nailed it the second time. But its that mindset of making sure the customer is taken care of even if they dont complain that just amazed me. Next time I visit Friday Harbor Im going to make it a point to come back to the Bean Cafe.

It was ok. The waitress kept talking in short hand when giving us our orders and got very annoyed when we didnt understand what she was saying. The food was good enough to eat, but I could have gotten something better at Panera for about four dollars less. I dont want to say avoid it, but if theres something nearby with the same type of food within the same price range, go for that. On the bright side there was good free wifi and you could hit a few pokestops while youre there.

Good coffee and coffee cake. Not a perfect pairing, but nonetheless good. Cute little place, good WiFi, and beautiful location. Lots of seating. Chair to table height ratio is perfect! The only big downside is that the Batista is super slow! Makes for long wait times. There really is no excuse for this. Even super boutique coffee shops that painstakingly prepare each cup are faster. But, if you have the time and patience, a great place!

Moderate size coffee shop in downtown Friday Harbor. A beautiful town, and a great coffee shop near to the water. Staff were friendly. They serve Tonys coffee which was brewed excellently and served in nice big mugs. The place is great for sitting down and reading/studying/working, lots of room, and a quiet atmosphere with the music at just the right level. Check out the awesome paintings from local artists that they sell.

Super friendly. Great coffee. Great cookies. They have light pastries and lunch fare ie. Sandwiches, salads, wraps, soups. Accessible from lower and upper levels. Owner was hanging out when I was there and was super helpful (as was the staff) with answering ingredient questions for my food allergies. They make the pastries. They are easily accessible while waiting for the ferry via vehicle.

The Bean is a hidden gem. Great pastries and tasty coffee creations, The Bean is your quintessential coffee shop: many tables, a comfy couch and laptop toting patrons with head phones in. They are located just a minutes walk from the ferry, so they have a TV that shows the ferry landing, so if you are waiting for a ferry, you can see when it arrives without having to step outside.

Nice food, OK coffee.. but, staff/manager seem disorganised and not proactive in explaining that they dont do tabke service... OK ..well sometimes... not usually... you work it out... thus contributing to long lines and dissatisfied customers... what am I even tipping them for???

This would be a great place except for the coffee which is truly awful. It has a nice, relaxed seating area, is very close to the ferry waiting lot and the staff is friendly - its just too bad that the espresso drinks are undrinkable. Get a bagel; bypass the coffee.

Great atmosphere and a prime spot for those waiting in line for the ferry to arrive/depart. Some of my favorite food items include the chicken-ceaser wrap, the hearty oatmeal served with loads of dried fruit and nuts, and the yogurt parfeit.

A lovely coffee shop with excellent service by the staff. Good coffee. On a sorted array of pastries and lox and bagels. Enjoyed sitting out on the patio soaking up the Rays while I waited for my friend Barbara to finish her Tai Chi lesson

Really enjoyed this cafe. The coffee was great, and they also have delicious pastries and paninis! Great spot to enjoy the food and hangout while in Friday Harbor. Looking forward to our next trip to the Bean Cafe!

This is the best mocha Ive had in YEARS! I am sad that it will be a very long time until I am able to have another. We dont plan on going back to the island anytime soon.... Thank you for a delicious weekend!

I asked the baristas for his recommendation of what to drink and he made a fantastic vanilla breve! Did not try the food, but the place was rather busy. It had been recommended by several of the locals.

Good coffee and generous-size sandwiches. $2.50 for an Americano any size, sweet! One minor complaint: get the lock fixed on your unisex bathroom; putting up a sign is no excuse. Thats just lazy.

If I could I would give it -10 stars. Needed to wait 50 min. for okay minus sandwiches, and I didnt even get the kettle chips I was promissed!!

Soup was amazing and my sandwich was good too. Had a cappucino and it was just right. Would like to re-visit next time Im on the island!

Super awesome staff. They were kind enough to help us out by making some impromptu vegan sandwiches to fit our dietary preferences. :)

Ditto others on the lovely cloud-like chai latte. Came in at 9:30 AM on a Thursday and our drinks were ready in less than two minutes.

I worked at The Bean for almost two years! The coffee is the best in the Islands and the customer service is beyond magnificent!

Great coffee. Stayed on the island for 6 days and tried multiple coffee shops. This one had the best espresso drinks.

Cozy, fun little cafe. Decent prices especially for being on an island. Not as crowded as the other cafes around.

Very classy coffee shop with fresh pastries and house made salads and sandwiches. Very convenient to the harbor.

Great coffee, but the service was less than exceptional. Probably will only come back if ordering a quick cup.

Coffee perhaps a bit burnt but my favorite on San Juan. Their coffee cake is great and paninis are delicious.

We received excellent service, loved my almond milk chai latte, and the breakfast panini was off da hook!

Great mochas. You just have to try it. Also they have gluten free sandwiches. An extra plus!
