My wife, newborn and I went to La Nicoise for a casual lunch and ended up having a great time. As we always try to do, we both ordered off the specials the waiter told us about when he brought us our iced tea. We both started with leek and potato soup which I didnt have to add any salt or pepper to. Seasoned just right! My wife had prosciutto and melon and i had a caprese salad. Both were excellent. Then I had a great piece of trout that came with some spanish rice and ratatouille. My wifes entree was a flounder sandwich. Hers was lightly breaded and almost like a french "po-boy" and came with a house salad. I sneaked a peek at the kitchen on our way out when I thanked the chef and it was definitely a one man operation (at least at lunch) and it felt like he took time and care with both of our dishes. Try this place out if youre in Winchester. It really took us by surprise!

I was very disappointed to learn that a recently-expired gift certificate would not be honored at the full face amount. I was told that the restaurant would provide 50% credit, which did not seem reasonable given that the gift certificate was issued within the last 9 months and only expired 3 months prior. I recognize it was my error but most establishments will provide some leeway on an expiration date, particularly as we are repeat guests who live out of town. Honestly, I would be hard-pressed to visit La Nicoise Café again. There are too many other good options in Winchester.

Had a great lunch with our 3 year old on a rainy Saturday. We had the plum and brie tart, cesar salad, ratatouille, lamb sandwich, merguez sandwich, and fries. Everything was excellent, service was great, and the chef is exceptionally nice! It is across from a fire station and my son got to watch the fire truck pull into the station! Cant wait to go back, already know what Im ordering!

Hands-down the best French Onion soup we have ever had... The owner/chef is charming and our meals were superb overall. I had a mediterranean salad with the most perfect shaved lamb ... Husband had hand-made sausage and bell pepper sandwich with fresh greens salad that was truly divine... We will definitely be becoming regulars. This hole-in-the-wall cafe is a hidden treasure.

My wife and I have frequented La Nicoise Cafe a number of times and have always been quite pleased with the quality of the food as well as the service. Prices are extremely reasonable. The owner, Frederic, always goes out of his way to great guests and to make them feel welcome. A great place to relax, unwind, and enjoy some great French fare. Highly recommended.

Very nice restaurant. Stopped here while driving North from Florida. I ordered the beef tips with mushrooms & onion sauce, that I asked to have served with rice instead of noodles, as I cant eat gluten. They were very understanding and helpful. My father ordered crab raviolis in a mushroom sauce. Both were very flavorful, and used great ingredients.

Excellent food and definitely worth the short trip away from the Old Town walking mall. The owner provide free entertainment (hes hysterical) to compliment the food. My Dad thought the Liver was the best hed ever had, and the Cheesecake was phenomenal. If we lived closer wed be regular customers.

Excellent French food in the Mediterranean fashion. Our first time and we will be back. Excellent preparation, service was good and the Chef/owner checked on all the patrons. Spicy and flavorful mussels and fresh salad. Onion soup with tangy cheese and good warm bread.

Service was outstanding. Owner was friendly and our server was attentive without being overbearing. Food was fine although not sure how fresh everything was. Back area of dining room and restrooms look like they could use a good cleaning & updating.

My wife and I stopped here while passing through Winchester. We were both very happy that we did. The meal was spectacular. From a wonderful French onion soup to an excellent grilled salmon to a delicious apple tart. Eveything was so good.

Simple and delicious french inspired food, made and served by the owner. The setting is quaint if a little quiet, but youll always be warmly received and treated as though you come in every other day.

We stopped here on our way to Pennsylvania. It was superb - a little taste of France. It was the best French food, outside of France, that I have had. Take the time to stop.
